Tyler grabs my arm and tugs me into what looks like an office. He closes the door behind us and spins me into him. “You really are a feisty little thing, aren’t you?”

“Fuck you, asshole.” I glare up at him, shaking his hand from my arm and stepping back.

“Damn, Liv, why don’t you tell me how you really feel?” he says with a smirk.

“Why? So it can go right over your egotistically enlarged head?”

“I might consider it for a moment… Actually, on second thought, you’re right. I won’t pay any attention.”

“You are the most arrogant, self-entitled, patronizing bastard I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting in my life,” I hiss anyway. “And before you mention the pleasure, because you inevitably will, you should know the displeasure far outweighs the measly amount of pleasure you’ve given me.”

Tyler’s eyes darken and he closes in on me, grabbing the back of my head and pulling me into him. His fingers thread through my hair and tug my head back so I’m looking at him, and, “Measly bit of pleasure? Didn’t seem so small when you were screaming my name and begging for more.”

“Clearly you’ve never watched When Harry Met Sally. That movie taught a woman everything she needs to know about faking it.”

He presses his lips to mine in a crash of teeth and a tangle of tongue. He grips my hip and pulls me toward him forcefully, his grasp on my hair never easing as he sweeps his tongue through my mouth. The zinging tension of earlier is back, except this time it’s worse and it’s swirling around us and holding us together. Holding his mouth against mine, our bodies flush together.

My anger swiftly changes to desire at the feel of his teeth nibbling my bottom lip, and a whimper leaves me involuntarily when he pulls away.

“I don’t believe for a second you fake it, Liv.” He ghosts his nose along my jawline. “I can feel the realness of your reaction in your body. I saw it earlier—I felt it earlier. My fingers barely brushed your gorgeous arse and you moved away as if I’d run them along your pussy. Your body responds to me whether you want it to or not, and it does it so clearly. So obviously.”

“My body is a liar,” I breathe when he sucks on my earlobe lightly.

“Much like you.” His words are spoken again my skin with a gentle brush of his lips.

“My dislike of you is no lie, Tyler.”

“Well, your body didn’t get the memo, babe. Your body likes me. A fucking lot.”

Sweet (#2) – Erin McCarthy

Jessica Sweet thought going away to college would finally make her free of her parents’ constant judgments and insistence she play chastity club role model for their church events, but if anything, the freedom has made her realize she can’t go home and be a hypocrite anymore. Tired of dodging their questions, she stays at school over the summer and lands in an unexpected crash pad: Riley Mann’s house.

Sarcastic, cocky, and full of opinions, Riley is also sexy personified with tattoos and biceps earned from working as a roofer all day. Not the right guy for her even if Jessica was looking for a relationship, which she is definitely not. But Jessica knows that Riley hides the burden of having to raise his younger brothers behind that grin and as she helps him get his house in order for a custody hearing, they begin to fall hard for each other, and she is forced to question what she’s hiding herself.

Jessica has never had a problem getting naked with a guy, but when it comes to showing Riley how she truly feels inside, her fear of rejection may just ruin the best thing—the best guy—to ever happen to her…

My review of TRUE

5 out of 5 STARS!!

My Review

“Would you be okay with it if I fell in love with you?”

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of the series True and you can read my review by clicking the link above. When I found out about Sweet and it being Jessica’s book, I couldn’t wait for it to be out. In True, we see Jessica as a party girl. She likes to go out, have fun and have the attention of guys on her. She was behind the plan to get Tyler to help Rory loose her virginity after Rory accidentally blurts out she has never slept with anyone. We see that Jessica doesn’t associate sex with feelings – as we know she slept with Tyler and doesn’t care that he and Rory are now in love.

I have to say, I absolutely loved this book…more than True. I’m not sure what it was about it but I was besotted with both Riley and Jessica, about them both, especially Jessica’s life as we don’t know about her life back at her parents house. We find out a lot of Jessica and I really liked her; she wasn’t how we know of her in book one and she grows up a lot in Sweet that you cant help but fall in love with her.

Behind her party girl persona, is a girl who hasn’t experienced life like the rest of her friends – especially Tyler and his family. Growing up in a strict religious household has made her do the opposite of everything she has been brought up to do. She drinks, parties, sleeps with guys and if her parents found out, she would be disowned by them. She hates living a lie, but she feels she had no choice in the matter at all. Her parents have dreams of her being a ministers wife, like her mother but she doesn’t want that at all.

She has her own dreams but they seem to be pushed away in favour of her being the spit of her mother and her fathers marriage. Being away from home, she can truly be herself, and that’s why when school is over for the summer, she lies and tells her parents she is going away with a charity, when in fact, she is staying and working all summer before moving into her shared flat….but she has a week of being homeless and with Tyler, his two brothers and Rory going to her fathers for a week, she moves in with Riley….What can happen during that week?

Jessica, as her name states, is actually really sweet. She doesn’t think she is, but the things she does for Riley, to help him out, to make his house a real home. We see her relax, we see her upset, we see her feelings for Riley change and we watch her fall in love. It was so nice to see this side to Jessica, one that makes her real. She can banter like hell with Riley, she can have a laugh and a giggle with him and we can see just how strong that pull is between them, their chemistry sizzling and it was only a matter of time before either of them did anything about it.

Riley is the oldest of his brothers and he will do whatever he can to make sure they are all together. He’s sexy, cocky, gives as good as he gets but behind that persona is someone who works hard to keep a roof over his families head, and he does have a sweet side. He doesn’t like to judge as many have judged his family and although he and Jessica bite at each other, he likes her around. The hard man act makes Riley, Riley, yet when a letter from social services comes through, his walls collapse and he shows his vulnerable and scared side. I liked seeing this from Riley and I liked that he let Jessica in to seeing that too.

The more time they spend together, the more that Riley sees that Jessica is sweet and kind and really thinks of others before herself. Deemed as a party-goer, she truly has a big heart and I think that was one of the reasons that Riley fell for her. She cared about him, about him getting to keep his brother and she was the main core of helping anyway she could if it meant the family stayed together.

The two of them together, when they actually admitted their feelings and ‘the princess and the prick’ gave it a go (Riley’s words) they were super cute. Both had never been in a relationship before so it was new to them both, but they did a pretty damn good job of ‘giving it a go.’ Riley was romantic and you could see how much he loved being with Jessica, how in awe he was of her, of her strength, her courage (with her parents) and determination. Jessica saw through Riley’s big man persona and saw someone who loves hard, who appreciates his family and who loves with everything- the things he would say to Jessica had my heart in a flutter – like the quote above. I CRIED AT THAT PART.

I also understand Jessica’s frustrations with Riley wanting to wait for have sex, as he wanted to win her heart and trust, not wanting a one-night from her as he doesn’t do that. It’s all or nothing. You don’t need the sex for these two to make the book – the little touches and the kissing do it just fine, but it was nice to see them eventually have sex, mind blowing sex which seriously connected them in every way. The wait for them both was worth it!

I love this book and I did smile, laugh, tear up and have my heartstrings pulled a few times throughout the book, but the journey both these characters go through makes them better people. From two people who disliked one another and bantered and bit at each other, you can see that they really are for one another. Everything you thought about Riley and Jessica will be flipped and you will end up completely rooting for them and loving them too.

Here is to waiting for Robin’s book!

Private Practice – Samanthe Beck

He’ll teach her how to bring a man to his knees…

Dr. Ellie Swan has a plan: open her practice in tiny Bluelick, Kentucky, so she can keep an eye on her diabetic father, and make hometown golden-boy Roger Reynolds fall in love with her. But Ellie has a problem. Roger seeks a skilled, sexually adventurous partner, and bookish Ellie doesn’t qualify.

Tyler Longfoot only cares about three things: shaking his bad boy image, qualifying for the loan his company needs to rehab a piece of Bluelick’s history, and convincing Ellie to keep quiet about the “incident” that lands him on her doorstep at two a.m. with a bullet in his behind.

The adorable Dr. Swan drives a mean bargain, though. If sex-on-a-stick Tyler will teach Ellie how to bring a man to his knees, she’ll forget about the bullet. Armed with The Wild Woman’s Guide to Sex and Tyler’s lessons, Ellie is confident she can become what Roger needs…if she doesn’t fall for Tyler first.

My Review

Dr. Ellie Swan or Sparky as her childhood nickname goes, moves back to Bluelick to open a surgery and to be closer to her dad, to keep an eye on him, maybe build a relationship with him. Overhearing that her childhood crush Roger Reynolds has called off his engagement to his high school sweetheart, Melody, she’s determined to make him fall in love with her. But there’s a problem. Roger is looking for a skilled, sexually adventurous partner and that is just not Ellie at all.

Tyler Longfoot is known for his bad boy image, and that is what he needs to shake off if he is to qualify for the loan his company needs to rehab a piece of Bluelick’s history. When he ends up at Ellie’s one night after an incident which leaves him with a bullet in his behind. He needs Ellie to keep quiet about the while incident though, which in turns makes the clogs turn in her head.

She’ll keep quiet, if Tyler will teach her how to be wild in bed. After agreeing, Ellie comes armed with chapters marked in ‘The Wild Woman’s Guide To sex’ and makes Tyler teach her everything. Shes confident that with her new skills, she’ll get Roger and fulfil his needs…but there’s a small catch and that includes falling for Tyler.

When I read the synopsis to Private Practice (and saw the swoon worthy cover) I knew I had to download it straight away. I love the whole girl likes boy, girl wants to impress boy so gets a bad boy to make her more sexy but she ends up falling for said boy and said boy, falls for her too, leaving behind his playboy image. Super love books like this and I love the journey both characters have to make to end up together.

Private Practice, to me, has a kind of Hart of Dixie feel to it. Although I haven’t watched it in a while…the last time Zoe and Wade were sleeping together and George was single (is this still happening?) but this book kind of reminded me of that. Wade is the ‘bad boy’ in HOD and George is the one that everyone loves. Anyway, the setting felt familiar as Private Practice is set in a small town where everyone knows everyone and knows everything and the main character, Ellie is also a Doctor like Zoe Hart and George, like Roger – Ellie’s love interest, is also a lawyer. So yes, there were some comparisons but that didn’t put me off, I actually liked it. Reading about small town romances always makes me want to go visit/go live there and experience them too!

Ellie’s a likeable character. She has bite, can hold her own, but she’s also a little misguided. Perhaps that could be due to the fact that her relationship with her father is non-existent and she still feels, at 28, that she can prove shes grown up and grown into herself. She wants him to be proud but he just doesn’t seem to notice all that much about her. This made me feel sorry for her, because she’s grown up with a father who didn’t pay attention to her, and now, shes moved back to keep an eye on him and to try and make a relationship with him. It was utterly sad that she still held on to him after he didn’t put any effort into their relationship throughout the years. She still wants his love.

Other than that, there were times when I literally wanted to shake Ellie. You can’t use a book to teach you how to ‘do’ sex. Sex is spontaneous; you can’t schedule it because it will feel forced and awkward. I think that’s what made me frustrated at her when it was time to ‘have sex’. I just wanted her to take the stick from her ass out and let loose. I think that’s why I loved it when she was with Tyler. He made her have fun and when it came to sex, even when she kept pressuring him to do this chapter and that chapter; he made her forget everything with one touch. Such a brilliant way to get her to stop over thinking everything and their chemistry together was smoking hot, which in turn made their time together even more heated.

She also seemed a bit naive at times as well. There were so many signs about Roger, she didn’t know what ‘a bunny’ was and she was just blind sighted by what was in front of her the whole time. She wanted the whole ‘white picket fence and kids’ with Roger, but to be honest, she and Tyler had more chemistry than those two did. He was just a fantasy, a little girls’ vision of a fairytale and now she was grown up, she still held onto it. I was actually really proud of her towards the end when she realized she didn’t want the fairytale, she didn’t want prince charming, she wanted the grown up vision, the real thing, and that was Tyler.

Tyler ‘footlong’ Longfoot. Oh my. What can I say about him? He’s hot, hot, hot and wellllll, he’s got a reputation around town as being a bit of a playboy, and because of this, it’s harming his company and jeopardizing the outcome of gaining a loan. He’s a reformed playboy with a rep that he is trying to shake off. But to his friends, he’s incredibly loyal. He’s built a company from the ground up, he’s charitable and by gosh, he owns a motorbike. HELL YES. My kind of guy. A definite new book boyfriend. I love how patient he was with Ellie’s OCD over the chapters of the book and I loved how we saw his journey from not wanting to be tied down to falling in love with Ellie.

He and Ellie can sympathize with each other about their childhoods. They both grew up with mothers and their dad’s were anything but attentive, maybe too attentive when drunk in Tyler’s case but they both knew how it felt to feel abandoned. Tyler is there for Ellie throughout everything with her dad and gives her father an ultimatum which kicks his ass into gear as he knows sooner or later Ellie will cut ties with him.

Tyler is a brilliant person and his and Ellie’s chemistry was off the scale. They both go through a journey of growing up and finding love together, even if that journey takes a while to kick them in the butt and get them to see what’s in front of them, especially Ellie. Together, these two are hysterical, and sarcastic but also caring and these things bring them closer together. Yes, it started off as just sex, but feelings and emotions come into play for both of them, and it seems that they have finally found the one person they were meant to be with. Their sexual chemistry had me needing someone to throw cold water over me and the sex was smoking. I especially loved the outside sex. Oh Jesus, that was so intense and passionate that I was wishing to be Ellie.

So yes, that was one of my favourite scenes. It was the penultimate scene for her realizing her feelings for Tyler and Tyler knew his feelings for her and wanted to show her. But of course, not everything turns out fine. If you want to know how this scene goes, you’re going to have to download this book 😉

The ending had me in stitches when Tyler brought along his own book for Ellie and bookmarked his own chapters, asking her for help. She didn’t understand why he was asking her and told him to ask someone else as she wouldn’t be able to take it. I shook my head over how blind she was, that she couldn’t see what he was doing. It was brilliant of him to do the exact same thing she did to him. I utterly loved the ending. It was brilliant and long awaited.

Private Practice is a sexy read. Its fun and it’s steamy, but it also deals with serious issues with father/daughter relationships. It’s also about finding love, even if it’s not the person you always wanted it to be. It’s with the person who is the real deal, not a fairytale fantasy. I freaking loved this book and you all should read it too. Make Tyler your new book boyfriend.

I definitely recommend Private Practice.

MADversary – Jade C. Jamison

They make sweet music together, but can it last?

Megan Walker doesn’t plan to attend her high school reunion, but her best friend Lisa begs her to come along. Megan doesn’t want to risk running into her old boyfriend Tyler Green, a man who has since become rich and famous as the frontman of a heavy metal band called Madversary. Lisa convinces her that Tyler would never show up for something like a reunion, so Megan gives in, only to regret it. Because when Tyler does show up, the spark reignites, and she doesn’t know that she can bear letting him go again.

My Review

This is the first book I have read by Jade Jamison and oh wow, I think I will definitely be downloading more books of hers because I could not put this book down. It was my Lazy Sunday book and I enjoyed every page of it.

It’s been ten years since high school ended and ten years since Megan Walker has seen her old high school boyfriend Tyler Green – now famous rockstar and adored by millions of girls and she’d like to say she hasn’t thought about him, but that’s not true as she had kept up with his career, no matter how much it hurts.

When her best friend Lisa begs her to go to their High School reunion, Megan doesn’t want to go in risk of running into the boy who stole her heart for those short months they were together but in the end tells Lisa she’ll go, but if she sees Tyler, its game over, she’s going home. Lisa has convinced her that in no way would Tyler want to come to the reunion.

Problem is, Tyler does turn up and he heads straight for Megan, looking as gorgeous as he was ten years ago, just more muscular and manly. The more alcohol Megan consumes, the more she feels relaxed in her and Tyler’s little bubble in the corner of the room. But it’s a bad thing, because the more they talk, the more all her old feelings are re-servicing and she decides she’s never really gotten over him, no matter how short their relationship was.

As it’s only a weekend thing, Megan can’t help knowing that this is only for a few days and after that Tyler will go back to the rock and roll lifestyle and she will be left heartbroken again. It takes every bit of energy to return the next two days. And even then, Tyler can’t stay away from her.

Megan was a great read. I felt her hesitation about going to the reunion. In my opinion, Tyler was the one who got away and seeing him would bring everything back up. She was really strong to go to the reunion, even though she was pretty much left along for most of it, due to Lisa wandering off, which I actually thought was highly unfair seeing as Lisa was the one who begged Megan to go and didn’t want to go on her own – whereas Megan didn’t even want to go, and she was stranded.

I fell in love with Tyler. He wasn’t your typical rockstar. Yes he’d had his fair share of groupies, but when he was first introduced, he was so happy to see Megan and really wanted to reconnect with her. You could see that he could have only really been there for Megan and it got me thinking about if he had called to see If Megan was going, just so he could go and see her. As many of you know, from reading my other reviews, Tyler has tattoos and piercings, which is a massive thumbs up from me. It was great to see another side to the famous people I read about. Tyler was sweet and considerate, highly good at sex (woah) and of course, still harboured feelings for Megan.

There is a big bust up near the end, concerning a psycho ex who begins to spout lies about Tyler to Megan to keep them from each other, but in the end, love concurs all and I thought the ending was particularly sweet with what Tyler does and how two high school lovers, who just needed time apart to get their lives sorted, came back together after still feeling the same way about each other that they had done ten years ago.

It’s a short read, but one where I couldn’t put it down. I’m going to finish this review with some appropriate songs that played during some of the scenes. I’m not lying when I say they actually came on my IPod during these scenes without my shuffling them to fit the mood.

First one: The first time they have sex – John Mayer – Your Body Is A Wonderland. Tots approps as Megan kept going on about Tyler’s physique and how muscular it now is.

Second: Blue – If You Come Back (Youtube if you don’t know the song). When Megan leaves after having sex the first time and misses the second morning get-together and Tyler asks Lisa if he’s done anything wrong to Megan

And lastly: Robert Miles – Children: The time they have sex in the locker room. This song plus that scene was pretty intense to me.

Listening to music whilst reading this book really did intensify the book and the words I was reading especially when songs that are apt to the scenes come on and make you feel so much more about that scene or character. All in all, I highly recommend this book and I shall definitely be downloading more Jade Jamison books.
