Happy Easter with a deal on top

Hiyyyya 🙂

As an Easter present from myself, The Deal will be 99c on Amazon US from March 24th – March 31st.  I wish I could make a deal for Amazon UK, but I’m only allowed one. But UK will be coming in a few weeks time and it’s only £1.99 at the moment 😉 If that persuades you to buy my sexy, dirty-mouthed but sensitive Craig Thomas, who would be more than happy to introduce himself to you.

I also want to say thank you to those who are patiently waiting for book two. It’s taking longer than I wanted (Nearly two years) but it’s been hard getting back into writing and I’ve been willing Matt and Mal to speak to me. And they do….sometimes. Just not at the moment.

Craig and Nic’s Valentine’s Special

So, I’ve missed writing these two, as they are my babies, so I decided to drop in and see what they were doing on Valentines Day, and as you know, Nic and  Craig can’t keep their hands off each other. Enjoy!! (It’s a little bit long, sorry not sorry!)

I don’t want to stop writing….

Matt’s book!

So the past couple of days, I’ve been so inspired. Matt and Mallory  – Yupp, I’ve decided to let you know my heroines name – have been speaking to me. Like constantly. And all this week I haven’t stopped with their story.

Last week I lost my job, but thankfully, I went to an interview on Tuesday the boss quite literally offered me the job there and then, so I start on Monday. Which is why I am cramming in as much writing as I can at the moment. It’s an exciting new opportunity, with more money in which i can start saving again for a house, less working hours (Mon – Thurs: 9 – 5pm and Fridays – 9 – 4pm) and an opportunity to grow and be trained up with the company.

But anyway…

I finished my job last Thursday and haven’t gone a day where I haven’t written Matt’s book, even if its been a few hundred words a day. I’m currently at 8,000 words right now. I have their story in my head but at the end of the day, it’s their story to tell, so we shall see what they say.

I’m hoping book two will be darker, deeper and more emotional than The Deal was, mainly due to the issues in this book which you will find out on the first page. That is, unless when it goes to Betas and they tell me to keep it quiet until a few chapters in. But other than that, all the gang will be in book two, they may not have great big parts but they will grace you with their presence somewhere along the lines.

For now though, I’ll leave you with who I picture Matt and Mallory if you haven’t seen my inspiration on my Facebook page yet!

So please welcome Lucas Gil and Hayley Williams!

2014 in a nutshell.

God, who can believe that it’s nearly 2015?! I can honestly say that this year has quite literally flown by. I can remember every single detail of the year and as always, I’ve had some incredible high and low moments but you know what? They are what make you that much stronger as a person and with only two days left, I came into 2014 in the most amazing way and I’ll be leaving it in the most amazing way – with my friends, food, alcohol and fireworks.

The past year I’ve gone from having crazy coloured hair, losing two jobs, moving back into my parents house and meeting some amazing authors in Edinburgh as well as flying on my own. Flying over to Turkey with two of my best friends to see my best friend who was repping for six months, I passed my driving test, I burned out two clutches on my car, I sat in the back of a police car for the first time and I started a new job. I met an amazing guy who is now my boyfriend, I fell in love after five years of being single and I PUBLISHED A BOOK.

You could say that it’s been quite an eventful year and I regret nothing. Everything that’s happened has created a memory that will stick with me and I have the photos to prove it.

10599482_10152251310991301_6262254467928327376_nPassing my driving test after four months was such a giddy feeling. I could have learnt when I was 17 but I decided that spending a month in Kenya was too important to pass and at 23 I was in a job, earning money to pay towards the lessons and I felt so much more mature than I would have done at 17. It’s given me the freedom to just get in my car and drive without having to ask for lifts and to be picked up from bus and train stops. I love driving even if I have burned out my clutch twice in the past three months I’ve had the car. Oops.

I also met a guy three months ago. A guy who, after the first date, I knew I wanted to spend more time with. And thank God he wanted that too. I met a guy after five years of being single, after five years of being content in not wanting to have a boyfriend; he came along and turned me upside down. He made me fall in love with him and I made him fall in love with me and I couldn’t be any happier than when I get to see him, when he’s a funny jackass to me and when I get to just cwtch up to him and fall asleep beside him. It’s still fresh but I’m so excited to see what is going to happen. We’re going away for the weekend next month for my birthday and then he’s taking me away for a few days in February for an extended birthday present – he just won’t tell me where or what we are doing.

The Deal No 10 KopieAnd finally, maybe the most important part of 2014 was that I turned from a blogger to an author. After a year of writing The Deal, I finally published it on Dec 1st. I got to press ‘publish’ on Craig and Nic’s story. I don’t care about money or ratings or best seller lists, I cared about ticking ‘write a book’ from my bucket list and that’s exactly what I did. I don’t go on Goodreads to look at ratings or reviews, I don’t even look at my KDP page to see how many have been sold because what’s the point of going batshit crazy over it all? So even if you absolutely hate the book or love it, I thank you for reading it!

(I’m going to do a little self-promo here, just because I can. So if you want a little extra hotness in your life, then Grab The Deal now. It’ll also be reduced to 99c for a week in Jan when my tour is happening!)

The Deal update!

It’s been just over a month since I’ve posted anything, that is pretty bad in my standards!

The past month has been pretty good to me. I’ve got a new job as a Digital Marketing Manager but it’s 9 – half 5pm and I’ve never worked that extra half hour before, and let me tell you, that extra half hour makes all the difference. So I normally crash when I get home.

You probably noticed I haven’t been on Facebook/Twitter as much either. Thing is, I just haven’t wanted to. There’s been so much drama that I don’t want to see over my timeline so I’ve been drifting in and out but I’m hoping to be back on soon, especially now THE DEAL is out in two weeks! Plus I haven’t really had anything worth saying/sharing, so that’s another thing.

I’ve also just got into a new relationship in the past month, and after a few years of being single, it’s really lush to be with someone you really get alone with and want to see and spend time with. It’s fresh and new and we’re still getting to know one another but it’s going really good. We don’t get to see each other a lot but when we do, I don’t want to be constantly on my phone as I want to spend the time with him.

And now the big one. THE DEAL IS OUT TWO WEEKS MONDAY AHHHHHH.

I’m still editing it, so ARCS may be a bit late, but the lovely Anna Bloom is trudging her way through my little book for me to make it the best book I can give you. I’m more excited than scared. It’s not even about the money, this is more for me. For me to say “HOLY SHIT! I have a book out on kindle and paperback!” To tick it off my bucket list. I’m proud of myself for seeing this through and I hope you will want to read The Deal.

If you would like to be a part of the RELEASE DAY BLITZ on DEC 1st, please sign up. I will love you forever. The fab girls at Between The Sheets Promo are organising it 🙂

I’ll also have a sign-up doc for MY TOUR which will run in January, also arranged by BTS. When I get the link, I’ll spam it across FB and Twitter 🙂

Thank you so much for all your support!

Character Highlight: Matt from The Deal.

The Deal No 10 Kopie

So you’ve met Jamie – Zili’s favourite character and now it’s time to meet Matt – Mallory’s favourite.

Mallory has become a really good friend throughout writing. She was my writing buddy as I wrote The Deal and she was writing her book! You all need to bully her into doing her edits because she needs to release the book and give me Knox 😉 Of course, she was also my beta reader and along the way we would send scenes to each other until we both had finished and we could read the full book of each other’s work. Mallory fell in love with Matt and so, as Jamie had a character highlight, Matt definitely deserves one too.

I thought The Deal would just be a standalone and then I would move onto the next project, but whilst writing it, I fell in love with Matt. He’s special to me and throughout The Deal, snippets of his back story were coming to life on the page and the more scenes Matt was in, the more I knew he had to have his story told and his happily ever after.

Matt’s character doesn’t believe in love so he sleeps around. He’s uncomfortable around the idea of love and expressing his feelings so instead he uses sexual innuendos and comments when he is in uncomfortable situations. He’s the joker of the group, the one who will make you smile and laugh and also the one who will tear at your heartstrings; He’s loyal and protective. He has a comeback for everything and the gang, especially Nic, love him to pieces, but as mentioned, he brushes it off.

You will most definitely see this throughout The Deal, but there is hope for him, I will make sure of it. He will change his perspective of love by the time I am through with him. I’ve already got around 8000 words of his story, and it is going to be a bit deeper than The Deal as both Matt and the heroine have some obstacles to go through. Matt doesn’t believe in love and the heroine doesn’t want love. What better way than to put them together 😉

Here is a line from Matt:-

“Almost as good as porn.” He shouts into my ear, earning a punch on his arm in return, “You just need to do that without clothes on now and I would spend money watching that on pay-per-view….actually I could definitely film it for you.”

And this is who I (and Mallory) envision as Matt: –

His name is Lucas Gil and he fits the description of Matt perfectly. So say hello to Matt !

Character Highlights: Jamie from The Deal

The Deal No 10 Kopie

The last post about The Deal was a week or so ago now and since I have been on holiday (or vacation to many of you) and only just coming home on Tuesday morning, I haven’t been able to write any more posts until now.

Zili, from Zili In The Sky book blog was one of my beta readers and she has been a big help in ripping apart The Deal and helping me better it…well duh.

You all know there are nine friends and although some are bigger than others, one character that Zili took a liking to was Jamie. Now, Jamie hasn’t got a massive part in the book, but he does work with Nic and there is a part with him and Nic where he is kind of the Agony Aunt and is giving her advice. I loved writing that part as I felt that was who Jamie was. He’s a bit of a joker, he’s confident and a bit cocky too, but he’s friendly, and protective and he’s there with advice whenever Nic asks for it. Also, as the last one to befriend the group, he is welcomed warmly by everyone…well he starts off rocky with Craig, but you will see why when The Deal is out.

This is how Nic describes him: –

“With his caramel eyes, messy sexed-up hair, thick, black rimmed glasses and from what I can tell, a ripped body, he is the definition of geeky and chic rolled into one…our very own Clark Kent”

And here is a line from Jamie: –

“It’s to gag your woman. I know she’s a chatterbox and it will do her some good to have something constantly in her mouth other than your dick.”

When Zili told me she liked him, I was surprised. I hadn’t given too much thought about Jamie, my mind being on Nic and Craig and of course, Matt, who book two is about, but Zili told me she would love Jamie to get his own book or even a novella. Although I don’t have a book story for Jamie, it would be nice to delve deeper into him. I loved writing the parts he is in, and I think a small novella about him and a certain someone would be a great idea. Perhaps sometime in the future, after book two is written and complete. I’ll make your dream come true, Zili, don’t worry 😉

So, Zili asked me to revive Mancandy Monday for Jamie, and it took a lot of hard work stalking pictures of guys to find Jamie…I had a vision of him but it was difficult to find him…until now.

Here is my Jamie, just for you: (Ignore the tatts and the nose ring, just focus on the hair and the glasses and you have Jamie!)

His name is Mateus Verdelho and if you google him, he is a fucking badass. I love these two photos of him though as I feel it’s Jamie, so just picture Jamie as this and not the other half naked, tattooed up photos of Mateus 😉

The Deal behind the cover.

The Deal No 10 Kopie

Now with my cover out in the world, I want to give you some background on why I ended up with my lovely cover.

You should all know by now that The Deal was written eight years ago when I was 15 – it was actually a fanfiction for McFly *blush* and I have no idea how the hell I came up with the story! I’m now 23 and of course, everything written in the young The Deal – otherwise known as ‘Love, Sex and Marriage’ (Don’t ask why it was called that when the only sex scene was at the end when they got married, other than that it was tame, apart from a coma scene, which is NOT in The Deal) has changed a hell of a lot. I have life experience and sex and relationship experience and when I was 15 I did not have any other these, so yes, The Deal was completely rewritten but the storyline is still kind of along the same lines as L, S & M.

If you followed me when I was a book blogger, you will see the majority of my reads are NA or Erotica/Romance and when I stumbled upon L, S & M one day on my laptop, I was going to re-write it as YA…well, that story was YA anyway, but after I found the sequel, yup, I started a sequel, I read a sex scene I had written and I sent it to some blogging and author friends who told me that L, S & M should not be YA. It should be NA. So I got down to writing NA but then the sex scenes came along and I couldn’t be tame with them, I had to make you see the sexual tension, the burning touches, the passion that exploded between them in the bedroom and I couldn’t do it if I held back on how they made each other feel. So the book changed to Erotic Romance.

So with the book being Erotic Romance, I had to make sure the sex scenes weren’t just a filler but a build-up to spilling their guts to each other. From the synopsis, you know that Nic and Craig have been in love with each other since they were sixteen, but they were enemies and they didn’t communicate unless they had to despite desperately wanting to be with each other. I’m hoping you can see and feel the longing they both have for each other, which is why I wrote it in a dual POV too, because I wanted you to know Craig’s side, know his feelings for Nic, much like Nic shares hers about Craig. He was so easy to write! Why are guys’ POV easy? I hated writing Nic’s haha.

If you have read the introduction to Nic and Craig, you will see that because of their personalities, it took me FOREVER to find the right cover. I was sending Anna Bloom links upon links of possible covers but when I came across this one, I knew, just knew that it showcased Nic and Craig perfectly. It’s not overly sexy and it has a touch of longing too. Craig longing for Nic from afar (okay, across the bed) and Nic ‘asleep’ after a sex workout. I wanted to convey my character’s feelings, especially Craig’s, on the cover and Laura Beege, my amazing friend went through a few different designs until she sent me this and that was it. I knew it was the one. The lightening, the colours, just everything spoke The Deal to me and that’s the cover you are seeing now!

I hope you can make the connection between the cover models and Nic and Craig when you read The Deal. Feel the heartache, the love, the longing in secret for one another. That is definitely how I feel when I look at the cover, and I hope you do too!

Behind the scenes of The Deal

The Deal No 10 Kopie

So three posts have been made so far about The Deal but I think this one is pretty important in setting the scene of Swansea in The Deal.

If you have read the introduction to Nic and Craig, I tell you why I chose Swansea over basing The Deal in Newport or Cardiff. One of the main reasons was due to the beach and how, to Nic, it’s her sanctuary, so I needed to place her near the beach, but also I wanted to base my book in Wales, as to me, Wales is utterly beautiful and has some of the best beaches in the UK.

images

swansea-bay

Nic, Craig and Kelsie live within a 20 minute walk to the beach. You can see how close the houses are to the beach.swansea_uni_picThis is Swansea uni. Although none of my characters went there, you can see how close the beach is.

Swansea’s beach is beautiful and as you can see from the picture, it stretches so far too. I actually spent Bonfire Night on this beach about 2/3 years ago, and it was just picturesque, if not a little scary with all the students with their own fireworks. I haven’t actually been there in the summer, but as any beach, you know it’s going to be packed, that everyone will be finding somewhere to sun bathe, to have fun and chill out for the day. Nic loves the beach, and the sunset/rise. You’l understand a bit more when you get to read The Deal. But just relish in the photos. I definitely need to visit Swansea beach soon!

The Flat

I had a vision in my head of what the flat looked like, what the building looked like and the street and this photo (of the building) is the closest I could get to it (minus the colours & the B&B that seems to be in the picture). I wanted houses/flats along the road and at the other end of the street would be Kelsie’s flat. I kind of based it on the flat and street I lived in last year, just not the inside of the flat. I definitely made that up.

property_for_sale_in_Plymouth_2There aren’t any photos of what I envisioned for the floor plan, so with my amazing paint skills – they suck so hard! – this is how i think of the flat. You may have a completely different vision, mind you.

My vision

Definitely should have been an architect HA! I’m not going to post photos of what I think the inside looks like because i want YOU to envision that anyway you want to. It’s more fun to think of the flat how you want to, so I will leave that part to your imagination 😉

I won’t spoil the book any more, but the flat and the beach are a big part in the book and now you know how I envisioned and what I took from each part.
