My Review

When I found out that Jamie was writing the wedding of Abby and Travis, I was  excited. We don’t really know the ins and outs behind them jetting off to Las Vegas, nor how they got married etc… so to find all this out, I was wishing for the 10th December to arrive so I could get my grabby little hands on the e-book and get to reading about their wedding and what came after it.

So I read it late one night; it was small enough to know I could finish it before I had to go to bed. I was flicking through the pages, my emotions were pretty high throughout the first few chapters and when I got to the end I just felt ‘meh’. I felt ‘meh’ about the whole novella and knowing the reason why Abby wanted to quickly get to Las Vegas and marry Travis….well it really got me angry she would do that and throughout the whole novella, I just couldn’t get past her reasoning. It pissed me right out and actually made me dislike Abby a lot.

Travis is still the guy we all know and love and as a dual POV novella, we got to delve into his head and see all different emotions pour from him – from his guilt about the fire and deaths of college people and friends, to his undying love for Abby, how afraid he was that would leave him, how much excitement and joy he was feeling from marrying Abby and how she was most definitely the one. I feel bad saying this but I actually felt that Travis deserved better than Abby because her reasoning sucked ass big time.

I did think the letter was so cute though, and I did tear up when I read it. To keep it for 17 years, close to Travis’ heart and to give it to Abby, we all know she is his one and he will do whatever to keep her forever. One line that hit me in the chest and I suppose Abby too was – “and when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever.” CRIES!! Because that was utterly true. Everything in that letter was true.

In a way, I think not knowing why they got married would have been the best way forward, but I know that many people probably wanted to know. For me it went either way. I was happy with how Walking Disaster finished and how their live together ended up, and although I did want to read this novella, I just feel a bit disappointed in it.

I will say that the wedding was super sweet though, it was everything they never had the first time and I did tear up throughout that too. Especially when America’s dad says something when giving Abby away…holy crap, he is amazing and that was a great part.

I know many people who loved this novella though, so if you are uhming and ahhing about it, take a chance, you may love it…but for me, I just didn’t. I think I will stick to just reading Beautiful/Walking Disaster to get my Travis fix. (And of course, The Maddox novels that will be coming out 😀 )

My review

I cannot tell you how much i love this series. Like, i love it so hard! Joss and Braden are one of my favourite couples and it was great to see that Samantha gave us that bit more of them. Of their relationship, their wedding and the pain and tribulations that came after that.

Samantha really got us with this novella. I went through the emotions; I was swooning, grinning so hard, laughing so much and really wanting to have a their relationship….and then it all went tits up and I was scared and angry and shouting at my kindle and crying and just wanted my favourite couple to talk, to talk it out and make everything better between them. I was completely anxious to see how it all panned out – to see if it would all be okay in the end.

You see the proposal (SWOONING MUCH?! Holy god, it was so romantic), the wedding, the honeymoon and what happens when they get back. Joss and Braden, as I’ve mentioned, are one of my fav couples. You can see they are just perfect for each other, they balance each other out and their banter and chemistry just mixes them together and they know just how to sweet talk and talk dirty to one another. But they also can bite back and they take no shit.

We all know the things that Joss has been through, the pain of losing her family, then her best friend and nearly Ellie, so we know that she is petrified that when she is happy, something bad is around the corner. Even getting married, she is scared she is going to lose everyone she loves sooner or later. We see her think things over, try to get her life in order now she has the love of her life. BUT when the dreaded drama happens, holy crap, I was a shaking mess. I actually cannot believe that Braden acted that way after everything that Joss had been through in her past. He ignored her, didnt want to touch her, hardly saw her and we see Joss feel so alone, going through the situation that made Braden just walk away.

Seriously, although he is swoon worthy and the Braden we all know and love, I just wanted to hit him, smack him, make him listen to Joss! Let her explain the situation and her feelings about it. Seriously! She has been through enough, witnessed enough and for him not to listen and just cut her off was the wrong reaction of his and it made me so angry.

Despite this though, they end up sorting it out and spunky Joss finally gets him to listen, to listen to her and Braden is literally begging Joss for forgiveness. You know she gives it though, she loves him with everything and it was a miscommunication between both of them.

I do love this couple and I cant wait to see little bits of them in the future series. This novella really did put me through the motions but it completed their story to perfection.

My Review

So you should have all read The Art of Letting Go AND The Saving of Benjamin Chambers by now…yes? No? GET TO IT!
The Art of Forgiving is a scene from Christmas in The Art OF Letting Go, in Ben’s POV. (We ALL love Ben…so YAY more Ben’s POV)
If you have read TAoLG then you will know exactly what happens before, during and after the Christmas entry…all from Lilah’s POV of course. Lilah is attempting to cook Xmas dinner and we all know how much she cant cook! So it’s the gang to the rescue.

The Art of Forgiving sees Ben cooped up in his room back at his mothers and he’s depressed and moping about. He’s lost Lilah and he really needs and wants her back – god, he loves her for crying out loud! When Tristan the arse calls him up, he jumps at the chance to see and spend time with Lilah, even if she doesnt want him around. We see Ben wanting just one more day, one day to prove to Lilah that they are right together, that they should be together and are meant to be – and this is his only chance to make right.

Ben is still the sweet guy we all know and love – he’s determined to make Lilah see that he is the one for her, that they should be together but he had big decisions to make about his own future and the band. He gets to spend a night with Lilah, hopefully making her forgive him and come back to him….

Will she though? Well, those who have read TAOLG know the answer, but if you dont, go and grab all three books and devour them like i always do!

My review

“She can thank me tomorrow or the day after that, or even the day after that because one thing is for sure, I am never letting that girl escape again.”

You should all know by now how much I love my bestie Anna, and how much i am infatuated with Mr Benjamin Chambers. Like it’s obsessive and damn right scary…if he was real, I’d be stalking his ass and telling him he should be mine and not Lilah’s. But damn, we cant download fictional characters no matter how hard we want to, and that is something i will have to live with!

But yes, The Saving of Benjamin Chambers is just that. Ben is bored with his life. He’s bored of not going anywhere, he doesnt want to be in the band anymore, he’s awkward around girls, hence never having a girlfriend and when he does sleep with them, the morning after he wants out asap! Yupp, that is our beautiful Benjamin, he hates attention. The Saving of Benjamin Chambers comes before The Art of Letting Go. We get a glimpse into Ben’s life before meeting Lilah and of course, the 9 months of searching for her after that brief meeting at her work’s Christmas do.

We know that Ben met Lilah at her Christmas do, but we dont know the specifics of how it happened, but let’s say he was infatuated from the beginning, knowing that he needed to save her from something, as well as being saved himself – despite not knowing it. When he plays at her Do, he cant stop watching her and then he loses her at the end of the night. Although he was going to quit the band before the gig, he decides to spend the next year looking for her and one night, one freshers balls fate seems to step in and he sees her. HE ACTUALLY FOUND HER! and by god, he is not going to let her go now, nope, he is going to make her his, so he can save her and she can save him. Thank god for being roommates and of course, on the same course 😉 So much time to spend together!

If you have yet to read The Art of Letting Go and have the utmost pleasure of falling in love with my sexy and cute guitar player, then get your butt to amazon, download it, read it then read The Saving of Benjamin Chambers. Anna has a unique style of writing, she combines sarcasm, humor and britishness all into one, along with laugh out loud moments, tender moments, crying moments and everything in between!

READ IT please 🙂

Excerpt

He taps my thigh with the back of his fingers. “Do you want food or not?”
“If you don’t take me, I’m sure I can find someone else to.”
“Yeah? Like who?”
I grin. “I’m sure Bobby Parsons would love to take me to dinner.” Bobby was on our high school football team and asked me out several times in senior year. I refused every time; he’s a lovely guy but I’m not attracted to him the slightest.
He scoffs loudly. “Like hell you are. Bobby’s wanted in your pants for at least six months.”
I laugh. “How do you know that?”
He pulls into the parking lot of the diner and kills the engine. When he turns to me, his face is deadly serious. “Baby, there isn’t a single damn guy on that football team that didn’t want to get in your pants at some point during the last year.”
The door opens as he climbs out. Is it me or is he less than happy about that?
“Really?” I ask after he opens my door.
“Really.” He takes my hands to help me out, and I head towards the diner. “Including me,” he mutters from behind.
I pause at the door. “You should know subtlety isn’t a real strong point of yours.”
Reese’s arm reaches in front of me and his hand flattens against the door. I look up at him, meeting his gaze, and he’s so close I can barely breathe.
I’m stupidly attracted to him – something made worse by the fact I’m not entirely sure if it’s just hormonal. We’ve known each other so long it feels almost natural to want him this way, like I was always meant to feel like this. He knows me as well as I know myself.
If I wasn’t going to New York, things would go a whole lot differently. If my forever was in Harlan Grove, this summer could be the start of something beautiful, but it isn’t. My forever begins somewhere miles away, and knowing that twists my gut as I look into the gold-flecked, hazel eyes gazing at me.
“Kia,” he whispers. “Did any of the guys on the team make it obvious they wanted you?”
“No…”
“So they were subtle?” he clarifies.
“Well yeah.”
“And did they get what they wanted? Did they get you?”
“No…”
He lowers his head toward mine an inch, and his lips pull up on one side in that smirk that’s so sexy but so dangerous at the same time. “Then what makes you think I’m going to be subtle about it?”

Finding Cinderella – Colleen Hoover

18593175Synopsis

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

My Review

GOD! Is there anything Colleen Hoover can’t do? She is pretty damn amazing in my eyes and every single book she has written has instantly become a favourite of mine and hot damn, Finding Cinderella, despite being a novella is pretty bloody perfect in my eyes. I want to thank Colleen for writing Daniel and Six’s story (I WANT…no NEED more of them though) and for making it free. That is an amazing thing to do, to thank us fans for loving you and your books. Even if it cost a bomb, I would have paid whatever to have a bit of Daniel in my life. I fell hard for him in Losing Hope.

Finding Cinderella, albeit a novella, makes you go through all the motions that a 300+ page does. Colleen Hoover knows emotion, she knows how to write it and how to drag it out of the reader. She knows how to use humour and angst and everything in between to keep you hooked, to keep you reading and who cares if this is 100+, this book has EVERYTHING wrapped up inside. The characters are developed, just like every single book of hers, the storyline drags you in, you fall for the characters, their lives, their emotions and you want to be with them and friends with them. Dear god, I will be fangirling so hard over Colleen on the 9th of this month when I meet her.

We previously met Daniel and Six in Hopeless and Losing Hope, as they are Holder and Sky’s best friends, who are always there for them throughout everything. It was great to finally see them get center stage and get to be loved like Holder and Sky’s love. They are both freaking fantastic characters, both outspoken, funny, sarcastic but definitely loyal and protective to their best friend’s. So when they meet for the first time when Six is back from Italy, and Holder tells Daniel not to do anything, well, of course Daniel isn’t going to listen to him.

Colleen gets suck right in from the first page and we all know that Daniel didn’t get given a lesson during a fourth period and hangs out in the closet and then BAM one day, a girl falls on top of him crying and thus begins the find for Cinderella when she leaves him a few weeks down the line. Never knowing each other’s names, nor what the other looks like, Daniel wants to find her but he never does find her…

So I don’t want to spoil what happens or anything but that cupboard changes Six’s life and dear god, when everything is out in the open, you will feel the utmost pain go through you, you will cry your eyes out for her and for Daniel. They fell for each other so fast and hard and god, you just know they are the ones for each other just like Holder and Sky. They go through so much in the short space and come out the other side.

You see their vulnerable sides, their fierce side, their loving side and their carefree sides. We all know Six’s personality, even from the short appearance in Hopeless, and although she has changed a hell of a lot during her year in Italy, you can see that she still has that spunk, that fun-ness to her, despite thinking over the time in Italy and what was left behind. She and Daniel are just perfect together and I am SO HAPPY that Colleen has decided to write a feature length book on these two because I cannot get enough of them!

‘Daniel’ even gave me a nickname and that nickname is ‘Sugar Boobs’ I will cherish this nickname (I call my friends ‘sugar tits’ so I suppose this is convenient and super bloody freaky that Colleen gave this to me HAHA). I have to say as far as Novellas go, THIS THIS THIS is the bloody best one I have ever read and I have read a lot. God, I just love Colleen so much and I cannot wait to meet her next week 😀
