The song that started The Deal…

When I read, I always have music on. I always love read a chapter and then a song will come on that just highlights that chapter perfectly. The lyrics just suit that scene beautifully and when that happens, every time i hear the song, I revert back to the book and the passage with whatever emotion i felt during the song and reading it.

It’s the same with my book, The Deal.

Every time a song comes on, I  listen to the lyrics to see if they suit Nic and Craig. I can;t tell you how many songs I have on my Spotify playlist that suits their story. But each other represents a scene, or their love, or their dark times and it helps me zone into them when I am writing or editing.

I’m going to copy Anna Bloom now, but I want you to listen to this song. It started off the re-writing of The Deal and it fits my characters perfectly. Anna sent it over to me last year and it was on repeat for days, while I honed in on who Craig and Nic really were. It had been years since I wrote them, but I finally knew them again. I knew their voices, their back story and how I would write them. And, alas, The Deal was updated a hell of a lot and made sexier and I knew my characters. And the more I wrote, the more I fell in love with them.

The song that began this process again is Paloma Faith – Agony.

When you read The Deal you will understand why this song fits my characters perfectly. But for now, have a listen…

Favourite soundtrack: Safe and Sound – Taylor Swift – The Hunger Games

Okay, so over the weekend I went to watch Catching Fire and I am absolutely besotted with this series, with the books and the films (so far) (Despite the face the first film sucked ass). Book two – Catching Fire obvs – is my favourite of the series. To see it on screen, oh god, although knowing what was coming, it was still so stressful to watch and seeing the fog and the monkeys and that ending…holy crap, i was crying. SERIOUSLY though, get your ass to a cinema and watch it now!!

I love the soundtrack to both films, but I think this song is the one for me. The one that I had on repeat for weeks and now the second film is out, I have become obsessed with it yet again.

What is your favourite movie soundtrack?

My Review

From Backstage Pass, I was hooked to the Sinners series. I relished in these books, impatiently waiting for the next books to be out and now its all over. The whole series has been published and I have fallen in love with each member, each girl and each story of the five members.

Their hardships, their band, their accidents, but more importantly, the way they love. Love one another and their prospective partners. Despite being a rock band, they are best friends; they banter, they pull pranks but they are always there for one another and I think that’s what I loved about this series too (okay okay, the smoking hot sex played a big part too)

Wicked Beats is actually the forth book in the series, but was released last. It’s about Eric or Sticks to everyone else and he is the drummer and unlucky in love. He’s the member who likes to watch the others have sex…maybe participate but more than likely watches. We find out about why he does this in Wicked Beat and your heart will feel for him! Bless him so much but Rebekah helped him through overcoming his ‘bedroom problem’ in the greatest way how…lots of sex.

We have all read about Eric during the five books, got to know him, his personality, his pranks, his protectiveness, his jokey side, his banter, his sexual prowess but what we really want is his happy ending. For him to find the love of his life, much the same as his fellow bandmates. Enter Rebekah. From the first moment he laid eyes on her, he was hooked. He wanted to get to know her, was totally on board with her filling in for Dave, her brother whilst he recovered, because he wanted to get to know her, and wanted her, only problem is she wants Trey.

Eric is protective of her, wants to know her, spend time with her but really, just wants to call her his own. The bandmates spot this and do whatever they can – under cover – for Eric and Rebekah to spend this time together and actually get it on. Trey and Sed have a big helping hand in this.

Eric is such a sweetie. We all know his as the pervert who likes to watch his bandmates have sex and says whatever comes into his mind but underneath all that, he is so cute. Yes he doesn’t have a filter and makes really bad sexual jokes but Rebekah likes him for that, she gets him and the jokes, even joining in with them. The two of them are a perfect fit together. They help each other in ways neither thought they could, each with their pasts, and in turn, they both fall in love. But with every book, there is, of course, something that has to get in the way. But Eric will fight until the end to make sure he gets the girl who has stolen his heart.

Rebekah is fresh out of college and now her big brother Dave is injured, she wants to fill in for him as the Sinners soundboard operator. She knows she can do it, and so can Dave, its just convincing the guys she will do a good job. She’s always had a thing for Trey and in a way going on tour with the band is her way of trying to get Trey to want her too. Rebekah is crazy and funny but she’s also insecure due to her past relationship and so she wants to feel sexy, she wants to be wanted and she owns herself by being direct in wanting what she wants. She wants the power but she wants to feel beautiful too.

Despite wanting Trey, she is drawn to Eric. They both help each other out in the bedroom and Reb is finally wondering why she was ever hooked on Trey as Eric is clearly the one for her. She begins to see him differently and you watch them fall for each other, pretty fast. After everything these two have been through, they found love together and a happy ending.

As we all know, Olivia Cunning knows how to write steaming hot sex scenes and Erics book was no exception. We see Eric and Reb live out fantasies, sex games and jrhvjfevkjnk I love the porny porn porn sexxxxx. You will be fanning yourself, wanting to jump the next guy you see and…well you know the rest!

Although I am utterly devastated that Sinners on Tour is now over (I can now read them in order), there is Trey’s brother, Dare’s band’s books that Olivia is writing! Fingers crossed that the Sinners get some airtime so we know how they are 😉 hint hint!

BOOK TOUR: The Rocker That Loves Me (#4) – Terri Anne Browning

TRTLM banner

Today on The Rocker That Loves Me blog tour is The Book Lovers review!

5 / 5 stars for Shane and Harper!!

————————————————————————————-

18171039Synopsis

I was the fun loving, easy going, different girl—okay, different girls every night—Demon. One look into a pair of violet eyes and all of that changed. She doesn’t even realize how beautiful she is and that makes me want her even more. Realizing that she is just as damaged as I am breaks my heart. Harper is a part of me, my other half. If only she would open her incredible eyes and see how I feel…

The Beauty… I knew that I wasn’t Shane Stevenson’s type. Hot rockers don’t go for plain girls like me. Years of my mother telling me just how unbeautiful I am has assured me of that. I have nothing to offer a guy that is so used to hot girls drooling over him. So why is he always there when I turn around? And why does it feel like little needles piercing my heart at the mere thought of him with someone else?

My Review

“Don’t you know by now that you are home, baby?”

I’m sure by now you know my love of The Rocker series by Terri Anne Browning. Rockers with tormented pasts whom find the love of their lives. Just my kind of books and I wait impatiently for the next book in the series every time another book comes out! I ALWAYS need my fix of Demon’s Wings.

The Rocker That Loves Me is the fourth book in the series and by no means any less important or sexy that the other three. HELL NO!!

I love the fact that Terri writes a prologue at the beginning on the books – a chance to see each band member (In their own book) as a teenager growing up so we get a little about what they all went through and how, of course, they all stuck together. They are not just a band, but a family, a very close family who will do absolutely anything for each other, as they know the ins and outs of each other’s pasts. They will fight, love and protect one another, especially Emmie.

In The Rocker That Needs Me we find out more about Shane. He’s Drakes brother and both of they have really gone through the same thing in the past, yet they deal with it different. Drake drinks himself into a stupor and Shane parties and sleeps around every night. But he sees the love that his bandmates have and he wants it. He tries to cut down the girls and in doing so takes up running. From The Rocker That Needs Me, he runs a lot.

The Rocker That Loves Me starts in New York, where Shane and Drake are. Shane met Harper in TRTNL and they strike up a friendship, but now Shane wants me. He’s hooked from the get-go and is convinced to get her into bed which is when I did get annoyed at Shane for the first few pages when he just wanted Harper to ‘play’ with. That really pissed me off but then he found out she was a virgin and he took her first kiss and he just couldn’t do it to her, he couldn’t be with her because of his ‘tainted past’ but Shane just couldn’t stay away.

She was all he wanted and he was determined to make her his. He fell for her pretty fast and he just didn’t understand why she didn’t think she was beautiful, so he made it his mission to make her see just how much she meant to him. He was protective and loving and caring and despite one little mishap from him, his intentions were always good and he definitely made up for them – god my heart broke at one scene over him and I just wanted to hug him and love him. I’m glad Harper forgave him.

Harper had this affect over him and it was lush to see Shane just want someone to love, like his band brothers, he really did deserve it. They have both never really experienced love and it was so nice to see them both fall into each other and the epilogue, ohh I cried it was that sweet.

I loved Harper. We first meet her in The Rocker That Needs Me and she is Lana’s friend and roommate. She’s reserved but she can bite hard if you fuck around with her; she’s a photographer and just a smidge insecure…okay a lot, but that is due to her mother and step sister belittling her when she was growing up. She believes she’s not pretty, sexy or beautiful enough for any guys to like her and she thinks it’s a joke when she gets called beautiful. She doesn’t believe it.  Then Shane comes along and he calls her ‘beautiful’ at every chance, but she just thinks he lying and doesn’t believe him.  She’s never been kissed, she’s a virgin and the complete opposite to Shane. She wants the love that Ellie and Carl had in Up (I loved the reference).

There is something about Shane but she’s adamant to be friends with him but it’s becoming too hard. IT was actually great to watch Harper grow. Grow into herself and grow in confidence too. Confidence that obviously came from Shane, which in turn made her stand up to her mother. And the confidence to explore her sexuality. Damn girl! I felt so proud of her throughout her journey and how she FINALLY believed in herself and believed that Shane loved her so much and would never leave her – after all, their love was an Ellie and Carl kind.

Harper and Shane had amazing chemistry. That was clear to see in The Rocker That Needs Me and by god, it was extraaaaa in The Rocker That Loves Me. They say opposite attract and with this couple, it truly does. They both had a journey to take, they both helped one another out and they grew stronger together and it was clear to see how much they cared and how much they loved one another. Everything they did – whether it was a bad decision (despite the fact they thought they were doing it for the greater good) or a good one – they got through it. The sex only intensified the chemistry and Harper helped Shane with his sex fear and Shane opened Harper up sexually. I just love these two!!

As with the other books, we get to a chapter from Emmie and I LOVE that girl. She’s got spunk that one!! We also see bits of the band and their respective girls and of course, Lana and Harpers flatmates. I also love how the stories from the past books integrate and overlap so it’s a continuation of their stories.

Seriously read this series, I cannot recommend it enough. From book one I have been religiously loving these rockers through everything. Take a chance on these books because you will most definitely fall in love with each and every one of the band members and the girls as well as loving Terri Anne too!

Bring on The Rocker That Holds Her and The Rocker’ Babies (And then we get Axton’s story WATWATTTTT!)

My Reviews

You’ve all read Kerry Heaven’s guest review of The Thoughtless series haven’t you? Well for months everyone on Twitter has been shouting at me for not reading it. For not knowing exactly why Kellan Kyle is the ultimate book boyfriend; why he’s in the top 3 for almost everyone.

So when he won the NA tournament, myself and a lot of other people decided it was about time to pick up this series and get to know Kellan, understand why Kiera is super annoying and why Griffin is completely awesome. I can’t even begin to tell you how I just consumed all three books. They were so hard to put down and as someone who HATES love triangles, I just kept reading and reading, falling harder for Kellan, absolutely wanting to be touched up by Griffin, loving the whole band and getting so angry and irritated with Kiera. Denny? Well I was impartial to him in Thoughtless. In a way he brought it on himself leaving Kiera for two months but I’ll get to that later.

S.C Stephens has won my heart. She made me feel so much throughout these books that I didn’t know what to do or read after them. She makes you feel every emotion under the sun, she makes you irritated, angry, happy, swoony, cry, giggle, want to smack a bit, paranoid, and that is just the tip of the emotions I felt. She really does draw you into the story, into her writing, makes you carry on reading despite getting worked up throughout Thoughtless at Kiera. You want to know what happens, what happens in book two and if they get their happily ever after in book three.

This review is going to combined all the books together because I have a lot of thoughts and as I read them straight after the other, I feel that it’s just easier to add them all together.

Kiera

Kiera. Oh I had heard SO MUCH about this girl through the twitter grapevine. And it was all true. She irritated me, she had me screaming and shouting obscenities at her through my phone and kindle. She annoyed me, she frustrated me and I called her a ‘bitch’ and a ‘tease’ just a few times. In Thoughtless, shes young and naive and doesn’t really know the world. She moved half way across the country to be with a boy!! A boy who left after a few weeks for two months leaving her in a city she had no idea about.

Despite her naivety, she blushes at EVERYTHING! Seriously, I wanted to tell her to just man the fuck up and stop acting like a prude. I really loved it when Griffin took the piss out of her and talked about sex around her. It was literally the best thing ever just to see her act like a virginal little girl.

You see her hurt Kellan (and Denny) so much. Kellan is the sweetest guy around and Kiera just completely fucked him up. She played him, she teased him and I just wanted to slap her and tell her to let him go, stop toying with him feelings and emotions. She deserved what Kellan said to her, because everything was the truth. I really really disliked her in Thoughtless, but I began to warm up to her in Effortless. Okay, so she’s still annoying but now that she and Kellan are together, you see her ease up on her annoyingness. Trust is still a big issue with those two from everything that happened on book one, but they are trying. It doesn’t help that Kellan is off on tour for 6 months.

Kiera really tries her hardest in Effortless. She tries to put the past behind her and focus on her and Kellan. Getting them to the point where although they love each other, they need to trust one another. She grows up a bit in Effortless and you can truly see the love she has for Kellan – his for her too. But of course, Kiera is a stupid little girl and there’s something that she should have told Kellan when Denny comes back. Despite nothing happening with those two, I hated that she hid it from Kellan. She should have told him and got it over with, but no, she kept it a secret. But I do have to say, I squealed at the ending of Effortless. It was actually the cutest thing ever and I did cry, yes. Trust is a hard thing to come by, especially with those two, but I was so glad that they got over their issues and could finally love and trust one another unconditionally.

I really liked Kiera in Reckless. She redeems herself and you watch her grow up a hell of a lot. She and Kellan are stronger than ever and after everything they have been through, they stick together, telling each other everything and battling things together, not alone. I loved Kiera’s strength, her love for Kellan and even through the way she and Kellan were treated, she held it together and tried to find scenarios and other ways to deal with what was happening. She really had her head screwed up in this book.

Kellan

My beautiful and broken Kellan. I don’t even know where to start because he is so utterly perfect I every way. He really has screwed up everything for real life men everywhere. My search for a Scottish Kellan Kyle is now on!

Kellan isn’t your normal book boyfriend. Not in a long run. He’s cocky and confident and oozes this sexiness from him. He’s perfect in an imperfect way and he knows it, but deep down he’s vulnerable and scared and doesn’t think highly of himself – that hes not worthy of being loved. He’s never known love but he wants it. He wants to feel that overpowering love for someone and that’s why he’s slept around. He wants to feel something if only for a little while. So when Kiera and Denny come along and he sees them together, well he wants that. He wants that love they have, that togetherness, that couple stuff.

You see him battle his feelings throughout Thoughtless. See him fall for Kiera, see him get hurt and pushed away and then begged to stay. It was a yo-yo on his emotions and you could really see how it was affecting him. He loved Kiera and she just kept messing with his mind. He hated the thought of her with Denny, he wanted her to himself and she was the first girl he loved, who he wanted to be with for longer than a night. You could totally relate to the way he acted throughout this book, because Kiera deserved every bit of it.

In Effortless you see Kellan and Kiera try to put their guilt aside and be together, in public. They have a lot of trust issues and when Kellan goes on tour for 6 months, the trust is put to the test. Kellan, being the perfect guy that he is would never ever cheat on Kiera. She means everything to him and he has fought so hard for her. He leaves little notes around the house for her to remind her that he loves her and he hides them obscure places so when Kiera finds them it’s like Christmas. You literally love every single note and hope that your boyfriend will do these for you. (I’m single, as you should all know). The biggest thing in this book is trust. Kellan doesn’t think Kiera loves him as much as he loves her and they are still trying to get over their trust issues. But Kiera proves that she not only loves him but she loves in so much more than she ever loved Denny, then that means so much to him. The ending is perfect, I squealed and cried and it’s the perfect way to end book two.

In Reckless my heart was breaking for Kellan. All he wanted to do was make music and with everything going on, with the record company kind of blackmailing him, his love of music was slowly dwindling. He wasn’t happy at all with what he had to do. All he wanted was to show the world who Kiera was, how much he loved her, and how no one would ever come between them but that wasn’t so. You could really see how much everything was affecting him, and Kiera was the one to try and lift his spirits back up. Make him see that she was there for him, help him through the things he was forced to do, through the manipulation of the label.

When a certain event happens – I loved him for it yet I was petrified for him, much like Kiera and everyone else was too. Although Kellan turned about to be okay, what followed after was the greatest thing that could have happened. With everything they had been through, to celebrate and do it this way was actually perfect. Both of them weren’t all that conventional anyway and this was just them. Together. With their family and friends to witness. Just how the both of them wanted.

The epilogue was one of the best things ever. I completely and utterly loved it. Seriously! It was an amazing way to end the whole series. A way to show that everyone were finally at the point in their life where it was just awesome. Family, great friends, overpowering love and a bond that can never be broken. I loved seeing all the couples together; the families together and everyone had come a long way since Thoughtless. They had all grown up and it was lush to see this. It was also lush to see Kellan and Kiera finally at a stage where it was it for them (well it always has been) but you see that although they have grown up, they are still the amazing two people that we (grew to) love (kiera) and you can see that they totally are end game for each other.

All the secondary characters – okay, they didn’t feel secondary – are just amazing. You will fall in love with each and every one of them. You will want Pete’s bar to be real, you will want to be a part of the IT group, have your own table with the DBags, want to work at Pete’s and be a part of their little group. You will want the banter, and the love and the support and friendship from each character. You will want Jenny as your best friend, Griffin to smut talk you and grope you, bear hugs from Evan. Each character has that something special about them and I think that’s what makes them so relatable and what makes you want to be their friends. Friendship and love like these guys have is something very special and it’s what makes me love books like The Thoughtless series.

If you were like me and haven’t got the chance to find out WHY Kellan is the greatest book boyfriend in the whole world and why we all got irritated at Kiera and then grew to love her, then go and buy this series and find out. Once to start it, it will be completely hard to stop reading. You will have a massive book hangover but in the end, it will be totally worth it.

——————————————-

My Review

Since I had found the first book in The Rocker series by Terri Anne Browning, you could say I have fallen in love. In love with her and with the band. Since The Rocker That Holds Me, I have become obsessed with the stories. Of wanting to know the past of each character, to wanting ALL the books out now so I can gobble up each of the guys and the girls and watch their happy endings after all the shit they have been through.

If you have read my review of book two – The Rocker That Savors Me, you will see that I have such a massive soft spot for Drake. Okay, not a soft spot, I am basically in love with this guy. There is just something about him that drew me in. His dark past, his vulnerability, and the fact I want to mollycoddle him and be the one to help him through his past, through his drinking and just be the one for him. I know, I know, hes fictional, but I don’t care. In my head, he can be as real as I want him to be! Hahah.

You could say that my excitement for this book is an understatement. I was PISSING myself over getting my hands on this book so when Terri-Anne emailed me about an ARC, well who the hell was I to pass up reading The Rocker That Needs Me and my book boyfriend? OF COURSE I wanted an arc. I needed to learn all about Drake and his past and his relationship with Lana.

Myself and Holly (@Hollyshotreads) are completely besotted by this series and by Drake that we waited until each other had finished our respected books and read it together. We have been sooo anxious for the past few weeks and were completely excited to finally read Drake’s story. The texts she was sending me were making me chuckle!!

My darling Drake. My darling, darling drake. His prologue killed me. It killed me. And I cried. Yes, I cried at the start of this book. I knew it was going to be a bumpy and emotional ride, I knew it would be a hard and long journey and I knew we would find out about his awful past and the reason why he drink excessively until he blacks out. I was hoping that this wasn’t going to be his past, but I just cried so much when it turned out just what his past was.

It was heartbreaking and it really made you understand part of the reason he drank. I completely understood though, it just broke my heart that he needed the alcohol to numb him, to make the pain and the past go away. To stop him feeling guilty too.

But then he spots his angel when moving Layla and her sisters back to their guest house. But his angel is 17 years old and hes 31. He feels like hes found his soul mate but shes too young. He wants to stay away but he can’t. It’s like he needs Lana to breathe. To fill his life with some kind of hope, hope that he can get over his demons in time and hope that he can turn his life around and stop the drinking once and for all.

You really do see Drake change over the course of the book. Because of the dual POV, we got inside Drake’s head, which I absolutely loved. You got to see his fears, his insecurities, how he thought of himself and his band brothers and Emmie, and especially how he thought of Lana – his angel.

Of course there are parts where you just want to smack Drake but I loved how he needed and wanted to get help. Help for his drinking and for his past, no matter how hard it was for him to dredge it all back up. I felt like a proud momma for Drake sorting his shit out. He did it for Lana, for Shane, for himself.

Drake really does come a long way. He is a strong character, despite the addiction to alcohol. He is vulnerable too and completely besotted with Lana, which I found so heart clenchingly adorable.  You could really see the fear of losing her when something big happens, and that is what kicks him ass into gear to try and win her back, to be a better man for her. He never wants to be without her, ever.

Angel, or Lana, as her real name goes is so mature and grown up for her 17 years. So doesn’t get involved in petty situations in school, she works hard, and focuses on her future and getting through school. She and Drake instantly click. Despite the age gap, there is something there between them that although they try to ignore, it’s blatantly there. They spend all their time together and it’s obvious that feelings are changing between them both for each other even though they are petrified and would rather hide them.

I loved the fear Drake had in losing her (which you will read in The Rocker That Savors Me). It was pure and you see just how much he and Lana balance each other out. But when one situation changes everything, Lana needs to do what is best for her. She is such a strong, caring girl and you really do feel for her. She loves Drake so much, but this something, she just needs to get away. To try and forget what happened. To focus on herself now even though she cares so much for Drake, it’s down to him to make the change.

Being miles away from Drake, I think it made Lana grow up and grow into herself. She just needed that time away to be herself – to focus on school but also focus on what she wants. I was so proud of her for standing up for herself, for not taking crap off Emmie, whom, despite my love for her, seemed to have some sort of vendetta against her. (I’m hoping this works itself out) but as I’ve said, Lana is amazing, shes brilliant and she didn’t deserve the hate towards her because it wasn’t her fault at all. (You’ll see what I mean). But I am glad she got her happy ending and both her and Drake, well I love them together and I’m glad they got over the issues standing in the way.

Drake does get his happily ever after. My heart was clenching in sweetness and an overpowering feeling to cwtched the shit out of him and Lana. My darling Drake finally got there in the end. Got to a point in his life where he was completely and utterly happy, in love so deeply with the one girl who stole his heart from the first sight. His journey wasn’t an easy one in any means. Lots of hurdles and bumps along the way, but they made him stronger. He broke his own barrier down, he stopped drinking, he put his guilt behind him, knowing and learning it wasn’t his fault and he got the girl who he knew he wanted to change for and be a better man for. You really cannot get any better than Drake. No way.

If you have yet to read about my book boyfriends in The Rocker series by the fabulous Terri Anne, then you are completely missing out. Seriously, you are because from the first book I knew this would become a favourite series of mine and it has. You have a band of ‘brothers’ all who have different secrets from their childhood and have grown up together and they have Emmie, the glue to their family. The girl who they all protected when they were younger and still are in a way. You watch the separate band members find their own way in life now; finding the one girl they want to spend their life with, and watching them grow.

The Rocker series isn’t one I’ve read before. The Rocker aren’t party animals, they aren’t the drink and drugs types. They are tame and it’s now time for them all to find the love of their life.

So join me in loving this series so hard and find new book boyfriends in each one of them.

My Review of The Rocker That Holds Me

—————————————————-

My Review

Jesse has only loved one girl in his life – Emmie. But he knows her heart has always belonged to his band mate and ‘brother’ Nik. The band and Emmie are his everything. They are the only real family he has and the only people he has let him, even if he is hiding some secrets from them – like the nightmares. But then Layla comes along and he will do anything to have her. Can Jesse move past his insecurities and allow himself to love and open his heart up to Layla?

Layla has had a tough life. From being on her own since the age of 16, she has had to do whatever she could to survive. Now she has two other people who depend on her and she needs a better job before they get evicted. When a job interview with Emmie introduces her to Demon Wing’s drummer Jesse Thornton, he reminds her of all the past mistake and the reason why she doesn’t date rockers. But there is something about him that she can’t stay away from. Can she move from her past and focus on her future with Jesse?

Ever since I read The Rocker That Holds Me I was really hoping that Terri Anna Browning would write books for the other members of the band. There were a lot of questions about each character that I wanted to know about. Wanted to know about their past and how it shaped them into who they are today. When she confirmed that there would be books for the others, I was holding my breath for them.

If you read my review of TRTHM, you will see that I loved Jesse. He is an amazing guy and an absolute godsend to Emmie for all of her life. He would and will do whatever he can to make sure she is safe and happy and I was so happy that his book was second.

As I’ve said before, you become drawn in to the characters lives. You feel for them, you want to know them in real life and you want to have a family circuit like the band and Emmie do. You can see the love they have for each other and how close they are. They have all grown up in similar households and they have been through thick and thin together. Terri Anne Browning brings all these emotions out of you when you read this book. I was grinning, crying, laughing, swooning and of course, the kindle throw when I became frustrated at Layla and Jesse (due to their stubbornness of not listening.)

Ms. Browning’s writing will have you hooked though. She definitely knows how to write sexy ass rockers. Sexy ass rockers who have a past and who, when they find the right girl, fall in love and in time learn to let go of the past. She writes with such emotion and depth that you can’t help but feel for these characters. It’s like they are real to me and you feel some kind of connection to them through the book. They really do take your heart.

Mentioned above, I love the bald, tattooed drummer that is Jesse. Growing up with a drunk of a father who used to beat him until Jesse was old enough to fight back, protecting Emmie along with his band mates was the only thing that mattered. Making sure she was safe, especially when the band became famous. Nothing mattered more than Emmie.

Jesse really is a brilliant character. He loves unconditionally, hes strong yet he’s gentle, hes confident and cocky but he never really uses his famous status, more content on being grounded and just basking in the love that all this band mates and Emmie share together.

As everyone in the band, he has a past. He’s never really had anyone who he has felt ‘more’ with apart from Emmie, but he’s just her best friend, so when he hears and meets Layla for the first time, its like a shock to the system. He can’t get this girl out of his head. He just needs her, needs to be with her and have her. It was so nice to see Jesse this way; to find someone who he wants to be with, to pursue romantically because he and Layla had this sizzling chemistry right from the start. As much as she told herself to stay away, she couldn’t, and Jesse was adamant on having her. Their pull just overtook them both and they just had to be together.

I loved how he (and the group) took Layla’s sisters under their wings, treating them with care and love. It was perfect to see this band, who love music and don’t care for the famous status to embrace three new characters into their dynamic and love them unconditionally too.

Jesse really would do anything to make Layla happy – even when they had a tipping point during parts of the book – but in the end, Jesse loved Layla with everything. You will find out just how much throughout the book ;).

Layla is an awesome character. I really, really loved reading her story and getting to know her throughout the book because she had such a strength you get drawn to. She has had one hell of a tough ride, from being kicked out at 16 and dropping out of school to doing whatever she could to survive the next few years, she had to grow up fast. Now she has custody of her two sisters, Lana – 17 and Lucy – 6, whom she loves more than anything, she wants them to achieve everything she never did. Layla loves fiercely, is protective, honest and a great friend to Emmie but she also had a vulnerable side to her at times. Mostly because of her past and the way she dislikes Rockstars because of her mother and her father. Although she didn’t want to fall in love with a rockstar, watching her with Jesse was so nice to see and it was great to see her so happy. To see her fall in love with Jesse and become close to the other band mates, as well as becoming best friends with Emmie.

There are a few scenes where you just want to shake Layla and tell her to listen to Lana and Emmie, listen to watch they are telling her and for her to stop being so stubborn. But you can kind of understand why she reacted that way (You’ll know what I’m on about when you read that scene). I’m just so glad that she and Jesse got their happily ever after. They both truly deserve it.

I particularly loved that Emmie and Nik (and Drake but we’ll get to him) had such a big role in this book as well. We see a very pregnant, stressed out Emmie but when she hires Layla, you see Emmie gladly welcome Layla and her sisters into their life. I loved having Emmie and Nik being a side part to The Rocker That Savors Me. You see how much they love one another, how they will always be there in an instance when one is hurting or upset (More Emmie on this), how they just can’t live without one another. I still love seeing the two of them like this after everything they had been through in The Rocker That Holds Me.

I adored how easy the three girls blended into the group dynamic. The guys all love Lucy because they remind them of Emmie at her age, but a much happier version than the little girl they had to save and keep protected and they all welcome Lana because she has this calming effect on Drake.

Now onto Drake. We all know that he drinks himself into a stupor to escape the demons of his past – which we do not know yet – but when Lana is introduced to him, it’s like something has clicked inside of him and he doesn’t need to pick up a bottle and get steaming. He’s adopted Lucy and treats her like his little sister, building sandcastles with her, taking her shopping. Just spoiling her rotten.

Then we come onto his ‘relationship’ with Lana. It’s like she is his muse. His muse to stop drinking, to start living life; to smile and laugh and show his artistic side, the one side that he has never, ever shared. Despite Lana being 17 and Drake 31, they have this special connection, and although Drake is petrified of the age gap, he just can’t be without Lana. There are sides to see to Drake that will tear you up, make your heart clench for him and that is why I cannot wait for book three. I NEED BOOK THREE NOW TERRI! I need more Drake in my life!

I can’t tell you how much that epilogue just….*sigh* I loved it so much. It was perfect and just holy moly, the most amazing way to end The Rocker That Savors Me. I am so not going into detail but Layla, Lucy and Jesse are just waaay too cute together and I’m smiling just thinking about what happens but I’m going to be good and not spoil it for you. You have to read it yourself to see why I am smiling to a computer screen like an idiot whilst typing this out. I can’t stop giggling and smiling at the amazingness of the epilogue. Too. Darn. Sweet.

If you loved The Rocker That Holds Me, then PLEASE grab your copy of The Rocker That Savors Me. You get more Emmie and Nik sweetness, you get to see Jesse fall in love, you get to see three beautiful ladies be added to the band’s family and you see character development, character’s grow and journey, characters fall in love and it ends perfectly for the next book  in the series which is Drakes – The Rocker That Needs Me and by god, I need this book in my life right now, because, although all the characters stole my heart, Drake took a little bit extra in this book.

So yes, love sexy rockstars who have sexy times but also journey through their pasts to find love and acceptance? Then this series is definitely for you!

Interview with Terri Anne Browning:-

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?
I was sixteen. It was summer vacation and I was so bored. I couldn’t find a book that would hold my attention for longer than 15 minutes. So my mom told me to write my own. She was sure that I could do a much better job. I pulled out one of my notebooks and got to work. Of course I got thirty pages into it and another idea for another story plot popped into my head. The first story didn’t get finished and neither did the second, but I had so much fun. I’ve been hooked ever since.

How did The Rocker That Holds Me come about?
I had been thinking about a character like Emmie for a while, but I couldn’t really get her personality down. I couldn’t decide what kind of hero would suit her, and then I realized that she needed more than one hero to make her complete. That was how Jesse, Drake and Shane were added in. Putting a rock theme into it was just the icing on the cake. The whole tattooed, bad boy persona for the guys really clicked for me as I brought them to life.

After you wrote The Rocker That Holds Me, did you ever plan to create a series or was it after fans of the book demanded more?
Even as I was writing The Rocker That Holds Me I was thinking ahead to Jesse’s book, but when the fans started screaming for a sequel I was ready to deliver.

The Rocker books all share (or are going to) the back stories of all the band mates and Emmie. Was it difficult to come up with different stories for them or did you know exactly what they were?
Jesse’s was the easiest to do because he is just so loveable. Everyone wants a Jesse in their life, either as a lover or a best-friend. Drake’s was easy to create because Jesse’s set the ground work, but he was just so gut-wrenching to write. But it’s Shane that is proving to be the most difficult of the band to write. I don’t know where he is going to take me and that can be terrifying.

In The Rocker That Savors Me, you introduce three more characters into the band and Emmie’s lives. What was your decision in doing this and not just introducing one?
Layla came as a package deal even as I was creating her in my notes. She just didn’t feel complete until I added in Lana and Lucy. She needs them just as much as they need her and that makes Jesse fall faster for her.

Drake held a big part in The Rocker That Savors Me, and he has become a favourite of mine now. Was this as to introduce him more as his book is next in the series?
Yes, although at the beginning it wasn’t where I was going. Drake had other ideas though and I went were he took me.

This may be a spoiler for those who haven’t read The Rocker That Savors Me, but what made you decide that Lana would be the one for Drake?
In the beginning even I wasn’t sure if that was going to work. The age thing was a big issue and for some that can really be the deal breaker. But there was just so much chemistry there and Drake couldn’t stay away. When you are that far into the dark you reach for the light whenever it is presented to you.

Do you have a favourite character? And who do you love to write the most?
I hate to pick favourites here, it’s like picking a favourite child…Jesse is my favourite though! He’s just so big and scary, but such a softy and so loveable. Jesse was created with my husband’s personality so I really do have a closer connection to him than the others. I love writing from Emmie’s POV, probably why I have included—and plan to include at least one POV from her in every book. She is such a strong and sassy character and I put a little of myself into her.

Do you have any other projects in the work for when you finish the series?
Well…If things work out the way I want them to, I’m hoping to continue on with the series through Axton Cage. I’m hoping that his book, which will be out next year sometime, will pave the way for more The Rocker… books with his band OtherWorld. But before that I’m really thinking about a follow up book that includes all four guys of Demon’s Wings.

Have you ever thought about who you would like to play each character if you’re books were made into films?
There are a few people that I have thought about. Mostly it has been Emmie’s character that I would love to see come to life. Emma Stone really comes to mind. I just love her attitude! But if I were to ever have the chance to do a movie, or a TV series which would really be awesome, I would want actors that are just starting out.

And lastly, is there a deep, dark secret you would like to reveal? 😉
Lol! Well, I don’t have many secrets. I don’t have a secret sex life, and I’m not hiding any bodies in my basement. I will reveal that I work under a pen name, but I almost always answer to it. I like the anonymity that comes with using the pen name. I don’t think half of my extended family even realize that I’m an author!

GUEST REVIEW of the THOUGHTLESS series by Kerry Heavens

So I volunteered to write a guest post for Zoe, something I have never done before. But writing is supposed to be the one thing I can do with ease right? And lets face it, I am never short of things to say, especially about books I’ve loved.

So what to review?

I had a quick look at Zoe’s list of reviews to find out what I could bring to the party. I decided to start at the bottom of my own favourites list, because the ones at the top of the list will have already been reviewed won’t they? Won’t they?

That’s when I noticed that Thoughtless wasn’t on the list…or Effortless…or Reckless for that matter! This is weird, I thought. Oh wait, she probably loved them so much she put them under their own tab…no? Oh maybe she loved them so much she has an entirely different blog dedicated to them?…NO!

This was that point when I got straight on to Zoe to find out what the hell was going on. “Oh, I haven’t got round to them yet.” She replies casually! WHAT????

So I have the distinct honour of reviewing my all time favourite series for you, with the hope that if nothing else it will make our esteemed blog host read them and save her reputation as a serious book blogger!

My only other issue before I begin (no I haven’t even started yet, get comfortable!) is that I’m not sure how I feel about this whole spoilers thing. I don’t want to give you a blow by blow, I want you to read them and love them. It is going to be very hard to tell you about all three books without some spoilers, but I will try to stick within what the synopsis reveals for each one.

It is no word of a lie when I say, Zoe, you are so lucky! I would give my right arm (the book holding one) to switch places with you. So that I could be the one that hasn’t read these books and you were the one recommending them…Then I could read them for the very first time, all over again. *sigh*

I read each of these longer than average books in one sitting, on consecutive nights, resulting in the kind of book hangover you never want to experience. 4-5am nights, then up for the school run, three nights in a row! I would say it was a labour of love, but it was no labour, just pure love!

So Thoughtless

Synopsis.

For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.

Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same.

13517535Let me say right now. Infidelity is a HARD limit for me in life. It happens, I know. It can make for a great story, I agree. You can write about it, I will read it, enjoy it even, but don’t expect me to sympathise with the characters. Whatever they get, they deserve!

So S. C. Stephens plays a blinder here. Because all my morals went out the window, the very first time Kiera hears Kellan sing. I wasn’t endeared to Denny particularly, so that was the first dent to my moral code. I didn’t care about him enough to be outraged for him. Their relationship just never convinced me.

Kiera will most likely start out irritating you, then you will get quite angry with her and it won’t get better until you are in a full blown fit of hatred for her weak, pathetic, prudish nonsense. Seriously the blood rushes to that girl’s cheeks more often than it would to a 17 year old boy’s ‘gentleman’s area’ at a Playboy pool party! It is just ridiculous! I can’t tell you one single thing about her that shines out as a redeeming quality. On paper she is terrible, in real life I would be forced to slap her and I’m not a violent person and yet…I don’t hate her. I can’t. Because I know, that faced with Kellan Kyle, I would have been just as much of a waste of space as she was, beginning to end. Guaranteed. I mean, I definitely wouldn’t have been so prudish. But I’d have made just as many appalling decisions.

This brings us neatly to Kellen Kyle. GOD. Quite simply the most perfect man ever to occupy my thoughts. I mean LOOK AT HIM!!!

a526aa5c029f1c03de6c65fad9facf3c“Everything about him had screamed, I’m going to take you right here and make you forget your own name.” – Kellan.

I don’t need to tell you all about his phenomenal good looks or how perfectly imperfect his hair is when it falls just so. Kiera will bore your arse off about it constantly. It goes without saying. He is funny and talented and charming. But it is what is on the inside that makes Kellan so special, something I wished Kiera had been more conscious of. He is damaged, fragile, so vulnerable and you just know she is going to crush him with her obliviousness. (Is that even a word?)

So while Kiera hedges her bets and frankly disgusts you, you will fall so hard for Kellan that even when he is being a shit, your only thought is, she drove him to it.

“You wreck me.” – Kellan.

So, you know it will be a gut-wrenching rollercoaster. I admit that I hid it under my pillow and paced my bedroom at least once, like Joey from Friends when he hides The Shining in the freezer. But the passion and love that is expressed in this book, that you actually live through this book is worth every second of the pain. I cried, I feared a heart attack at one point and I rather embarrassingly caught myself panting every time he touched her. BECAUSE IT IS THAT GOOD.

The supporting characters are all equally brilliant. The D-Bags, Kellan’s band are all sweet hearts, well except Griffin. Griffin is something else! You will love him. He is the original FIGJAM, and he just lives to get a rise out of Kiera (I refer you to the aforementioned gratuitous blushing. PFT!). The girls are great too, Jenny is Kiera’s conscience when she most needs one, but she is a great friend to Kellan too. They are all just great.

The scene setting, the atmosphere, the pace, it is all brilliant.
Have I gone on enough? Just Read it, you won’t be disappointed!

fb05d03b55634cf323aabad83536c610Effortless

Synopsis.

After being caught in the middle of a love triangle which led to a devastating betrayal, Kiera pledged to learn from the mistakes she’d made. She was determined to never again inflict that kind of pain on anyone, especially the soulful, talented man who held her heart. But life offers new challenges for every relationship, and when Kiera’s love is put to the ultimate test, will it survive? Love is easy . . . trust is hard.

15842441

I am going to try not to spoil this, or the ending of the last one for you, here goes…

Kiera is infinitely less annoying. She grew up. A lot. So that is a relief

“Loving you, Kellan, is so easy, it’s effortless…” – Kiera

You’re damned right about that Kiera!

If you thought it wasn’t possible to love Kellan any more, you were wrong. Everything that endeared you to him in the first book is still there and bought reinforcements!

But, if for some reason we’re not closer, if something has gotten between us, please, I’m begging you…don’t give up on me. Stay. Stay with me. Work it out with me. Just don’t leave me…please.” – Kellan

The moral of this book is trust has to be earned. If everything you hold dear was acquired dishonestly, you will spend every day scared half to death that you could lose it in exactly the same way. That’s just how it is. In telling us this part of the tale, S. C. Stephens does it again, no she doesn’t do it again, she never stops doing it!

“You are told from the moment you enter school that time is constant. It never changes. It is one of those set things in life that you can always rely on…much like death and taxes. There will always be sixty seconds in a minute. There will always be sixty minutes in an hour. And there will always be twenty-four hours in a day.

Time was not fluctuating. It moved on at the same, constant pace at every moment in your life.

And that was the biggest load of crap that I’d ever been taught in school.

Truth was, time did fluctuate. It was easy to lose hours or even days in a blink of an eye. Other times, it was a struggle to get through a mere hour. It ebbed and flowed as relentlessly as the

tides, and just as powerfully too. The moments that you wanted to last forever were the ones that were washed away all too soon. The moments that you wanted to speed up, were slowed down to a snail’s pace.

That was the truth of the matter.” – Kiera

Oh and if Griffin (and his Hulk) hasn’t got under your skin yet, he will. 😉

“Well, what’s the point of being a rock star if I can’t bang the groupies?”

Rolling my eyes, I found myself muttering, “I thought it was supposed to be about the music?”

Griffin, unfortunately, heard my sullen comment and chose to respond to it. “No, no, I’m pretty sure it’s the pussy.”

chris_hemsworth_looking_handsome-wideGriffin ❤

Reckless…

Synopsis.

When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other survive the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they’ve formed, the new family they’ve found, and the history they’ve forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band’s exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price-but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?

13600318You will finish this book totally distraught that it is over.

This is all about the redemption. You more or less forget that you ever wanted to throttle Kiera. All the characters stories are developed. Griffin will become your new second favourite book boyfriend, behind Kellan. I can’t quote it without spoilers, but his speech in the VIP room at the nightclub where he tells Kiera why he didn’t fuck those two girls, was the moment I fell HARD! From there on in, I was just eating up each new sweet thing he did. Yes I said sweet, you’ll see.

God, I want to say so much (I’m bursting here!), but it will ruin it and as I said right back at the beginning, I wish I was you and it was my first time, so I know I can’t!

Knowing that I will never hear the D-Bags play, that I can’t rock up to Pete’s for a beer with the boys any time I want. Knowing that Griffin will never try and grope me and that…gulp…Kellan isn’t actually real and I will never have him…well that nearly put me in therapy.

The whole thing really is a rollercoaster. But it was the ride of my life!

I know I just chewed your damn ear off, so sorry about that, but I am slightly passionate about these books! The fact that I managed to do it without telling you to hop straight over to Twitter and follow the undisputed King of the TL, his royal sexiness, @GriffinakaHulk because he is everything you hope Griffin will be and you can actually talk to him, for real!…shit! I mentioned it didn’t I? Oh well, you should, so I’m not sorry!

Thanks for having me here, I’m sure I won’t be invited back; I talk far too much.

Oh, and before I go. Once you have read them all…promise me, you won’t do it until you have read them all? Ok, if you promise! Once you have read them all, check out the original ending of Thoughtless, before S. C. Stephens decided to make it a series.

To say I am glad she changed her mind is an understatement; I don’t think I could have lived with this…

There is also a Kellen’s POV from the rain scene, google it. X
