My Review of The Edge of Never

My Review

For those of you who know me, The Edge of Never is my favourite book ever. Give me a book about roadtrips, finding yourself and finding love and I am so there, but the thing that I loved the most was that I related to Camryn, and when that happen to me, when I can see myself in a character, I am won over. So when I found out that J.A Redmerski was writing the sequel, I was pretty much ecstatic. Although the ending of TEON was pretty much perfect and it could have just been a standalone, I was happy to follow more of Andrew and Camryn’s story, and see how they were getting on in life.

Those of us who have read TEON know what went down and how much we all sobbed and how our bins were filled with tissues, but we also know where it ends. The Edge of Always continues where The Edge of Never ends. Andrew and Camryn are head over heels for one another, they have shared and gone through a lot in the 5 months they have known and been together but you can see that they really are whole together – the missing piece to each others puzzles.

Camryn and Andrew go through a heartbreak a few chapters in and you really feel for them. Camryn withdraws herself, tells herself and everyone else she is fine, for them to stop fussing, that she doesnt want to talk about the loss and you can see just how much she is hurting, yet she puts up a front. At 20, she has lost so many people in her life, she is scared Andrew is going to be another, so she withdraws so if it does happen, it be potentially not hurt as much…but of course, it will shatter her world and thats all she can think about now.

Andrew is hurting too, but hes hurting for the loss and for Camryn. He loves her so much and its killing him that shes not opening up to him, so he is at a loss over what to do. He isnt the Andrew we know and love and that hurts to read too. He is pussyfooting around Camryn, but really, you can see why. He’s scared that she’s not herself and he wants to take the pain away, so he thinks of the one thing that they both experienced together….their road trip.

Andrew, bless his little heart, spends a week planning out their roadtrip, hoping it will heal Camryns heart and heal her past. With the help of Natalie, despite not being her greatest fan, he learns things about Camryn’s past and he wants to help her through it. His love is stronger than ever, he wants to let her grief for everyone in her life whom she has lost one way or another and she is petrified that she is going to lose Andrew too. He wants to make her see that she will never lose him, ever.

The roadtrip brings them together again, they visit old friends, old cities and discover new things too. We see the overpowering love the both of them have for each other – Andrew helps Camryn grieve, he gets her back to her old self, and really, the road is where they are meant to be. And it makes them realize that they can do anything and be anyone with each other, that they have their whole lives ahead of them and there is this whole world out there waiting to be discovered by them.

We watch Andrew and Camryn grow up, we see them settle down, and seek happiness for what they have together. What started as a roadtrip, ends as one too, and although I liked this book, The Edge of Never and Camryn (and Andrew) will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope one day that I will be as brave as both of these.

The perfect way to end the series. I loved seeing just how happy Cam and Andrew were.

My review of Twisted Perfection

——————————————————–

My Review

“You’re my all-in Della. I’ll throw it all away for you. I just want you. I’m all in, baby. This life with you, I’m planning on us.”

I firstly want to say, I am crying writing this review. I didn’t long finish the book but I cannot stop the tears from falling. God, my heart is in my throat, I have a massive lump in my throat and the last couple of pages just tore a new one in me. It tore my heart apart and it still is. So I’ve been sat here for the last 15 minutes trying to write this review and give the book and the series the justice it deserves.

Abbi took my through the motions of the second book – I was smiling, laughing, swooning, I was grimaces at the misunderstanding, crying my bleeding eyes out and trying to work out how I was going to get through it and sighing at the end at Della and Woods. This couple will be one of y favourites because they go through so much together – but in the end they always find a way back, they always find the strength from one another to carry on, and the strength deep down inside themselves too. Nothing in this book is simple, because there is so much the characters go through, but they will get through it, with the help of each other and their friends and in a way, its simple with that amount of love.

Simple Perfection begins where Twisted Perfection ended. We all know Wood’s father died and now Woods owns everything – from his family home and the club house. At 25, its a lot of responsibility to now be in charge, but he knows he can do it with Della at his side.

But when Della thinks she is a burden on Woods, she loves him too much to carry him down so she leaves. This begins the heartbreak for both Woods – who desperately wants and needs Della back and for Della who thinks that Woods doesn’t want her. Throughout their time apart, Della grows stronger and finds out some things about her past which helps her move forward. But what happens when she had Woods are reunited? Are things all rosy or is there devastation in their way?

Woods tops my book boyfriend list. He has since Never Too Far when you could see just how much of a sweetheart he was to Blaire, how much he was there for her when Rush was being a dickhead.

With his father deceased, Woods has so much more on his plate, with running the Club and also protecting and making sure Della is okay with her night terrors and kept away from the bitches that are Angelina and his mother. Woods goes through a lot – he doesnt grieve for his father, he just has a lot of anger towards him. His love for Della is sometimes completely smothering and although he wants to keep her protected, she feels that she is just a burden so when he is taking to Jace about his mother, Della misunderstand whom he is taking about and runs away with Tripp.

We see Woods in despair over this. You can see how affected he is that she left, how much he loves her – she owns his soul and how much he wants her home with him. He doesnt want anyone else, she is it for him. Woods is definitely different in this book, but he goes through a lot. He has lost his father, technically his mother, Della runs off and there is something else that happens that will tear at your chest. We see him depend of Della when she is back, after having her back in his life and then having his life turned upside down again, she is his rock throughout everything and in a way, it was time for Woods to grieve, even if it was for a completely different reason. It was time to see his walls fall down and for Della to be there for him, like he always has been for her.

Throughout everything they have been through and still are coping with, the ending was a little light relief from the heartbreak and the emotional events of the book. It was nice to see they had their happy ending together and they were strong enough to fight whatever came their way.

Della, as we know, didn’t have the best childhood…hell she reverts into herself when she’s in an overpowering situation or if a memory is triggered and she suffers night terrors where she’ll wake up screaming. Woods’ parents disliked her, Angelina is a raging bitch and after everything Della goes through in the book, she most definitely thinks that she is not worthy of Woods’ love, that she is not strong enough for him and she is holding him back from finding true happiness, she knows, or at least thinks she knows that Woods’ doesnt need her ‘crazy’ around. She is holding him back. And after hearing a conversation, which she definitely misunderstood, she knows he doesnt. She loves Woods more than herself and that is why she has to let him go.

Despite shouting at Della through my kindle, I understood why she had to go. There was so much hurt and things to sort out in her life that she had to go away and believe she was strong enough and worthy enough to have Woods’ love. We watch her grow day by day….grow from that tormented girl we see throughout the first and part of the second book, into someone who is slowly coming to terms with her past and finding out she can stand alone, can be alone and that she is willing to fight for what she wants, and that is Woods and her life in Rosemary. She becomes confident in herself and stronger that she has ever been. She is coming to terms with not waking up screaming, and that is a big deal to her that she is slowly healing from her horrific past and opening up to Woods about what she went through. Bit by bit she is becoming the girl we all knew she could be.

My heart broke at around the 85-ish percent mark. Seriously, I couldn’t swallow, tears were rolling down my face and I knew this was the moment! I had this spoiled by a twitter user a few weeks back and although knowing what was going to happen, I didn’t know how it happened. Holy crap though, I was (and still am) an emotional wreck. No joke, you will sob your little heart out, feel the pain of everyone involved and still feel it after the book. It really has stayed with me after. I always say that the books that make me cry are the greatest….holy shit yes. I dare you to make me sob and Abbi certainly did that.

I absolutely love The Rosemary gang, but I have to say that Woods is my favourite. If you have read my review of Twisted Perfection you would see just why and that love has only intensified throughout Simple Perfection. If you have yet to be introduced to this series and the gang, go and buy them all…right now. Go on, off you go….

MANCANDY MONDAY: The place where the hot guys go!

ehufvndjvndks

Every Monday, Blame It On The Book Lovers will be discussing their favourite book boyfriend of that week in a meme called MANCANDY MONDAY!

We all love book boyfriends, so Man Candy Monday is all about sharing the love…and the hot guys around by letting everyone know the book boyfriend you have been swooning over this last week, and why!

Once you’ve posted your mancandy on your own blog, come back and post the link. We all want to know WHO your mancandy is this week and swoon right along with you.

This week The Book Lovers is featuring Reese Pembleton from Second Chance Summer – Emma Hart

imagesSo my Reese is called Layton Draper

So having a few weeks off, yano how it is with a busy social life and work, my comeback is with an amazing and beautiful character named Reese from Second Chance Summer.

So why Reese? I dont even know where to begin. If you have read Second Chance Summer, you will completely understand why I love him so. For starters, he’s a mechanic (Check out the YUMMY photo below), he has a tattoo (you know i’m a sucker for those), he’s known as ‘Cowboy’ to Kia’s best friend (I love a cowboy) but most of all? Just the way he completely and utterly loves and adores Kia, even after a year apart. Even after she ran out on him. Now shes back and he is determined to make her see she is the one, that nothing has changed, his feelings havent changed and that he still wants her just as badly as he did a year ago – he has been pinning over her and will do anything to make her see he loves her, to make her see that although they are young, she is it for him and he will follow her to the ends of the earth just to have her.

His beautiful soul and his words are what hooked me – and they way he is oh so sexy and dirty (with oil and his mouth) and dear god, how he will cradle Kia when she is crying, how he learned guitar, how to dance and sing, just to show her he can do it, to show her that he will do anything to see her smile and laugh and will do anything to make her blissfully happy.

For all of you who havent read this book yet (and we WILL get a prequel and a second book with these two) you need to get yourself a copy and see why this book is amazing and why Reese deserves the ManCandy this week.

And now the photo you have all been waiting for….(I just want to lick him)

Falling Into Us (#2) – Jasinda Wilder

17700010Synopsis

THE STORY YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW…

When Kyle Calloway died, he took a part of Nell with him. She wasn’t the only one left to pick up the pieces, however; Kyle’s death left a gaping hole in the hearts and lives of his parents and his older brother Colton, and ultimately broke the will of the girl he loved.

THE STORY YOU NEVER IMAGINED…

Becca de Rosa is Nell’s best friend. When Kyle died, Nell was so devastated that no one could reach her, not even her best friend Becca. As she tries to help Nell through her grief, Becca’s own life is thrust into turmoil, and everything she knows is changed.

Jason Dorsey asked Nell out the week after her sixteenth birthday, but that date never happened. Instead, he ended up going out with Nell’s best friend, Becca. He had no way of knowing, then, how that one date would send him on a life-long journey with Becca. He had no way of knowing the tragedies and triumphs he would experience, or that in Becca, he might find the love of a lifetime.

THE HEARTACHE YOU’LL NEVER FORGET…

My review of Falling into You is HERE

———————————————

My Review

By now you should know my favourites. The ones that completely stole my heart, ripped it out, made me a sobbing mess, had me falling in love with their story, having my heart pieced back together and left an outstanding impression to me. That was what Falling into You did to me. It showed raw pain, dealing or more like trying to deal with grief and falling in love. To say it’s a great book would be an understatement….

BUT then came along Falling Into Us and I can’t tell you how much this book stole another piece of my heart. I sat wondering why it had taken so long to finally get round to reading this book and I actually couldn’t think of any. But it’s okay because I did get around to it and I did completely, head over heels demolish every single page and every single line that was in the book.

I read it on the way to work, back home from work and then into the evening. It PAINED me to put it down during work and even when I jumped into the shower, Jason and Becca were constantly on my mind. I needed to know more about them, finish up their story, and see how their lives pan out. I really cannot tell you how much this book just made me forget the outside world.

There will always be one book you will read and you are like “why hasn’t this been in my life sooner?” And I’ve got to say, this is the book. I may, just a tiny bit love this book more than Falling Into You, but only a little bit because I adore Colt and Nell’s story. To say both couple lead different lives, it’s hard to really compare the stories because they all go through heart break and pain but Jason and Becca’s just stole my heart a bit more.

Becca is an amazing character. She is smart, like super smart, she is Nell’s best friend, she’s overcoming a stutter which still appears when she is nervous or excited and she is gorgeous, but that is overshadowed because of Nell. Her parents are strict on her, especially her father, she’s in all these classes, constantly doing homework and hardly ever has any freedom. Her freedom is poetry which she keeps locked away from anyone.

She’s always had a crush on Jason from afar but hes always liked Nell. But when Nell stands him up and she tells him to call Becca, well then we get to know what they did on their ‘date’ as we know they went out in Falling Into You.

I did adore Becca. You could feel her frustration at her parents – she just wanted freedom. Not to be shackled. She also fees frustrated and angry at being second best to Nell when Jason asks her out but you can pretty much see from the get-go that these two have so much more than he and Nell would ever have. And that is where the story begins. Throughout the years, you see her progress from a shy and soft spoken girl into a confident and outspoken women. Being with Jason truly helped her throughout the many trials and heartbreak she faced over the years, the love she had for him, the way she knew he was the one for her. She helped him as much as he helped her and I loved watching her progression throughout the book and the years. She was so comfortable in her own skin and around Jason. That is exactly how it should be.

I loved Jason. He’s not the person he showed other people. He didn’t have the greatest home life, but he was strong, and the way he handled his childhood shaped him into the person he grew up to be and the person we all fall in love with. He’s special and I think that’s why Becca has a soft spot for him, despite the fact he was gorgeous too. He chose the path in life to not be his father and I applaud him for that. Along with the help and love of Becca, he could do anything he put his mind to. She was there with him through everything, much the same as he was with her. They both go through horrible things but they bring each other back to life, because of the strength of their love.

Jason is such a sweetheart when Becca goes through the most painful thing to happen in her life. He’s patient, he never leaves her and he breaks through to her, gets her to speak to him. He holds her, loves her and lets her know he’s not going anywhere. He truly is a special guy and you can utterly see why they were the ones for one another. They just balanced each other out, they loved each other so much and although their journeys weren’t easy, they had each other to power through and be right by each other’s sides.

You watch they grow from insecure teenagers to confident adults, who know exactly what to do, what to say, how to love and how to help each other. You watch them talk things through, complement one another and talk about their future, always including the other. Their relationship and their bond is so strong, nothing can part them.

If you are looking for some Nell and Colton, then they do appear in this book. You get to see more of their relationship, their cuteness and see their relationship develop even more. They are still so awesome together. You do relieve the moment Kyle dies, and the tears did appear again. Even though you know it’s going to happen, it’s still as painful as when you read it the first time.

Falling into Us will tear you apart. It will make you cry, make you smile, throw your kindle away because you don’t want to relive that moment, make you giggle and smile and sigh at the cutest of Jason and Becca. I wasn’t worried at all when Jasinda said she was writing a second book that included these two, because I knew it was be great. And it bloody well was.

I would recommend reading Falling into You first, then Falling into Us. Read about Nell and Colton, then Jason and Becca and come back and tell me all your FEELS. Because you will FEEL a hell of a bloody lot!!

One Tiny Lie (#2) – K.A Tucker

Tucker_One Tiny Lie coverSynopsis

Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents’ tragic death and Kacey’s self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. But underneath that exterior is a little girl hanging onto the last words her father ever spoke to her. “Make me proud,” he had said. She promised she would…and she’s done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she’s going to someday marry. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men’s rowing team. Definitely him. He’s an arrogant ass who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn’t want in a guy. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

My review of Ten Tiny Breaths HERE

—————————————————

My Review

Because you’re not a one-night girl, Irish.” Leaning in to place a kiss on my jawline, he whispers, “You’re my forever girl.

*Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy in return for an honest review*

I bloody well loved Ten Tiny Breaths, as you can see from my review, so when I found out Livie was getting a book that was the GREATEST news ever. I literally could not wait for it because I wanted to see how Livie’s life would pan out and if she too, would find love and her obstacles in her life.

I was not disappointed in this book at all. When I picked it up, it was demolished in a matter of hours (not counting how I had to put it down to work) but I was just drawn into Livie’s life, wondering how it was going to end up, wondering about Ashton’s too. You really do feel for Livie and Ashton and that is why I love K.A Tucker’s style. You get sucked in, you have all these feels and you feel the same as the characters you are reading about. It’s hard not to.

Ten Tiny Lies is about Livie and her going off to college. Kelsey’s worried that Livie is going to crack and so she recruits Dr. Stayner to help Livie out, in his obscure ways.  Although Livie doesn’t want his help, she humours him and in the end, she talks to him every Saturday, doing everything he tells her to.  In turn, when she goes to college, she lets her hair down. She drinks, she makes friends and of course, she falls in love. And as I’ve said, not without complications.

Everything in her life is tipped upside down, she has no idea what to do because it’s the only thing she’s ever known. Just what is Livie going to it?

We first meet Livie in Ten Tiny Breaths. She really is the glue to her and Kelsey, especially after everything Kelsey did and went through. She is strong willed, she’s smart, she’s shy and she has her future all mapped out, she has since she was a little girl. But despite all this, she has yet to ‘crack’ under the pressure of everything and she is too grown up for her own good. Kelsey wants her to crack, to act like the teenager she is and to not just focus on looking after everyone, she needs to let loose a little, live a lot and find herself. Enter Princeton, new friends, a lot of alcohol and a whole lot of complications. What is Livie meant to do? Everything seems to be falling apart right under her.

You really do see Livie grow throughout One Tiny Lie. She is definitely a straight and narrow girl, hating to go off track and not knowing what is going to happen, but Princeton is slowly changing her and its scary. She wants to change but at the same time she doesn’t. It’s all shes wanted and known since she was a little girl. What is she to do if she can’t be a doctor?

I loved her journey though. She finds out who she really is, lets loose and lives a lot, makes new friends, gets drunk and gains a new crush in the form of Ashton.  But Ashton is just a little bit broken. Livie has always felt empathy towards people, feels that she can help them in some way and she really did want to help Ashton out, no matter how many times he seemed to push her away. Her determination to ‘free’ him is what I loved about her and she really does find who she is at the end.

Her journey takes her from a straight A’d student to a woman. We watch come out of her shy shell and transform. We see her develop strong feelings for Ashton, watch her deliberate over what the hell to do and literally change her life. Her lifestyle changes, her career prospects change and admitting that out loud is so scary she doesn’t want to, but she has to. She takes babysteps with the help of the amazing Dr. Stayner (What a babe) and he helps her every step of the way with his crazy ideas. But he always makes her see that whatever she does, her dad will always be proud of her.

Dr. Stayner makes Livie understand that you don’t need to plan every single detail of your life, that you should just let things fall into place. Life carries on regardless of if you plan it or not. He really was the father figure that I think Livie needed at that crucial time in her life.

From the get go I was infatuated with Asthton. There was just something about him that I was drawn to – from the way he overpowered Livie to stealing her Jell-o shot and kissing her. HOT HOT HOT! The cocky little bastard that he was. This is the start of a very complicated and back and forth ‘relationship’ between the both of them. They had the chemistry from the first moment but despite Ashton’s cockiness and smugness and flirtiness, he’s pretty damn broken up inside. He’s not ‘free’, and everything he does is a front he puts on in front of his friends and everyone in college.

He hides his private life away, not sharing anything with anyone yet he’s strong, and loveable and you cant help but want to smother him with love and help him through everything. To be the one to free him from his shackles.

He has everything you would want. A great car, goes to a great school, money but there is just someone that he wants but he just cant have her – Livie. No matter how many times he pushes her away, he cant let her go – he’s torn between telling her that she should be with Connor and wanting her to himself. But he’s hiding a massive secret from her, a secret no one, not even his best friend Connor, knows about. See what I told you about the fact that no one really knows anything about Ashton.

But bit by bit he kind of needs Livie to be his reason to be free, to breathe again, and hes there for her as much as she is for him, despite her not fully understanding everything. When you find out the reason why they cant be together, your heart will ache for Ashton. I cried and it pained me that he went through all of this and is still continuing to.

When everything does come out, my heart bled for Livie and Ashton. It was time for Livie to put herself first and take a time out, focus on exactly what she wanted in her life, and if she wanted Ashton in it or not. Her decision was not taken lightly but you could see why she chose what she did in the end. It was courageous of her and of course, she loved Ashton and she really needed to know the truth from him now. Before she fully ‘took’ him back.

They were both exactly what the other needed.

I’m going to mention Connor, as he’s in the synopsis but I really didn’t click with him. He was definitely a safe option for Livie and although he did seem to really like Livie, he just wasn’t really there for her throughout her confusion over her career, her failing grades and I just couldn’t understand why a boyfriend wouldn’t be there for his girlfriend. Thank god she had Ashton around to comfort her and be there for her. She made the right decision.

I was so glad to see Kelsey and Trent and everyone else from TTB cameo in One Tiny Lie. I had missed them so much and although we obviously see Kelsey more – still LOVE this girl and I still love the comments she comes out with, we get to see her and Trent all lovey dovey, which is exactly how we love them!! They deserve so much happiness after everything they have been through. Livie leaves Kelsey in the dark about everything until Livie cracks and returns home after that one revelation one night and tells Kelsey everything. It was so nice to see the two of them bonding and just being the amazing sisters we know them as.

In my opinion this is really what One Tiny Lie is about. Breathing again, freedom, finding who you truly are and being okay with that, with the changes in your life and falling in love and being loved back. Livie and Ashton complete each other. They show each other how to love and how to live and how to free themselves from everything holding them back. They both stole a piece of my heart and I really do hope that they get to be a part of book three – Cain’s book – because I would love to know what happens beyond the end for the two of them.

Please, if you have yet to read Ten Tiny Breaths and One Tiny Lie, grab your copies. These books truly deserve to be read and Ten Tiny Breaths was on my top 10 favourite books of 2012 and would I ever lie to you about great books? No!

My Review

Since I had found the first book in The Rocker series by Terri Anne Browning, you could say I have fallen in love. In love with her and with the band. Since The Rocker That Holds Me, I have become obsessed with the stories. Of wanting to know the past of each character, to wanting ALL the books out now so I can gobble up each of the guys and the girls and watch their happy endings after all the shit they have been through.

If you have read my review of book two – The Rocker That Savors Me, you will see that I have such a massive soft spot for Drake. Okay, not a soft spot, I am basically in love with this guy. There is just something about him that drew me in. His dark past, his vulnerability, and the fact I want to mollycoddle him and be the one to help him through his past, through his drinking and just be the one for him. I know, I know, hes fictional, but I don’t care. In my head, he can be as real as I want him to be! Hahah.

You could say that my excitement for this book is an understatement. I was PISSING myself over getting my hands on this book so when Terri-Anne emailed me about an ARC, well who the hell was I to pass up reading The Rocker That Needs Me and my book boyfriend? OF COURSE I wanted an arc. I needed to learn all about Drake and his past and his relationship with Lana.

Myself and Holly (@Hollyshotreads) are completely besotted by this series and by Drake that we waited until each other had finished our respected books and read it together. We have been sooo anxious for the past few weeks and were completely excited to finally read Drake’s story. The texts she was sending me were making me chuckle!!

My darling Drake. My darling, darling drake. His prologue killed me. It killed me. And I cried. Yes, I cried at the start of this book. I knew it was going to be a bumpy and emotional ride, I knew it would be a hard and long journey and I knew we would find out about his awful past and the reason why he drink excessively until he blacks out. I was hoping that this wasn’t going to be his past, but I just cried so much when it turned out just what his past was.

It was heartbreaking and it really made you understand part of the reason he drank. I completely understood though, it just broke my heart that he needed the alcohol to numb him, to make the pain and the past go away. To stop him feeling guilty too.

But then he spots his angel when moving Layla and her sisters back to their guest house. But his angel is 17 years old and hes 31. He feels like hes found his soul mate but shes too young. He wants to stay away but he can’t. It’s like he needs Lana to breathe. To fill his life with some kind of hope, hope that he can get over his demons in time and hope that he can turn his life around and stop the drinking once and for all.

You really do see Drake change over the course of the book. Because of the dual POV, we got inside Drake’s head, which I absolutely loved. You got to see his fears, his insecurities, how he thought of himself and his band brothers and Emmie, and especially how he thought of Lana – his angel.

Of course there are parts where you just want to smack Drake but I loved how he needed and wanted to get help. Help for his drinking and for his past, no matter how hard it was for him to dredge it all back up. I felt like a proud momma for Drake sorting his shit out. He did it for Lana, for Shane, for himself.

Drake really does come a long way. He is a strong character, despite the addiction to alcohol. He is vulnerable too and completely besotted with Lana, which I found so heart clenchingly adorable.  You could really see the fear of losing her when something big happens, and that is what kicks him ass into gear to try and win her back, to be a better man for her. He never wants to be without her, ever.

Angel, or Lana, as her real name goes is so mature and grown up for her 17 years. So doesn’t get involved in petty situations in school, she works hard, and focuses on her future and getting through school. She and Drake instantly click. Despite the age gap, there is something there between them that although they try to ignore, it’s blatantly there. They spend all their time together and it’s obvious that feelings are changing between them both for each other even though they are petrified and would rather hide them.

I loved the fear Drake had in losing her (which you will read in The Rocker That Savors Me). It was pure and you see just how much he and Lana balance each other out. But when one situation changes everything, Lana needs to do what is best for her. She is such a strong, caring girl and you really do feel for her. She loves Drake so much, but this something, she just needs to get away. To try and forget what happened. To focus on herself now even though she cares so much for Drake, it’s down to him to make the change.

Being miles away from Drake, I think it made Lana grow up and grow into herself. She just needed that time away to be herself – to focus on school but also focus on what she wants. I was so proud of her for standing up for herself, for not taking crap off Emmie, whom, despite my love for her, seemed to have some sort of vendetta against her. (I’m hoping this works itself out) but as I’ve said, Lana is amazing, shes brilliant and she didn’t deserve the hate towards her because it wasn’t her fault at all. (You’ll see what I mean). But I am glad she got her happy ending and both her and Drake, well I love them together and I’m glad they got over the issues standing in the way.

Drake does get his happily ever after. My heart was clenching in sweetness and an overpowering feeling to cwtched the shit out of him and Lana. My darling Drake finally got there in the end. Got to a point in his life where he was completely and utterly happy, in love so deeply with the one girl who stole his heart from the first sight. His journey wasn’t an easy one in any means. Lots of hurdles and bumps along the way, but they made him stronger. He broke his own barrier down, he stopped drinking, he put his guilt behind him, knowing and learning it wasn’t his fault and he got the girl who he knew he wanted to change for and be a better man for. You really cannot get any better than Drake. No way.

If you have yet to read about my book boyfriends in The Rocker series by the fabulous Terri Anne, then you are completely missing out. Seriously, you are because from the first book I knew this would become a favourite series of mine and it has. You have a band of ‘brothers’ all who have different secrets from their childhood and have grown up together and they have Emmie, the glue to their family. The girl who they all protected when they were younger and still are in a way. You watch the separate band members find their own way in life now; finding the one girl they want to spend their life with, and watching them grow.

The Rocker series isn’t one I’ve read before. The Rocker aren’t party animals, they aren’t the drink and drugs types. They are tame and it’s now time for them all to find the love of their life.

So join me in loving this series so hard and find new book boyfriends in each one of them.

My Review

If you’ve read my Hopeless review, you will know how much I adored that book. Like seriously? It’s on my favourites list and Holder is definitely a book boyfriend. When Colleen said she was writing a book in Holders POV and his story, well that book was going on my TBR list asap. Hopeless is pure amazing and I knew Losing Hope would be too.

I was not disappointed at all. Thank to NetGalley, I downloaded my copy and in two days, Losing Hope was read. It was devoured. I was sucked in and entranced by every word, every page and every feeling and thought Holder was telling us.

The fact that Losing Hope is NOT a retell of Hopeless…well I just love it. Yes there are certain scenes that are told in Holder’s POV but this is HIS story. His story from losing his sister, to finding Sky to finding Hope along the way. HIS story of how he began to live, how he fell in love, how he learnt to forgive and breathe again.

I had seen tweets that Losing Hope was more emotional than Hopeless and they were not wrong. A few pages in and I had to hold back the tears as I was in public. I ugly cried throughout the book, I felt every single emotion from Holder; I wanted to climb into my kindle and hug the shit out of him. I wanted to be there for him, be Sky and let him fall in love with me. Help him through everything he was going through.

If you have yet to fall in love with Holder in Hopeless, by god, you will completely and madly and totally in love with him in Losing Hope. He literally has my heart now. (I say this a lot. But it’s fine. It’s not cheating if they are from different books.) Daniel, Holder’s best friend also has a piece of my heart. He is utterly brilliant!

Colleen has written an AMAZING book in Losing Hope. She has you sucked in from the first page, she has you laughing, crying – ugly crying that is -, wanting to know everything about Holder. You feel. You feel everything in the book. There is no getting out of it and you won’t want to either because you will cherish all these feels.

We knew Holder was intense in Hopeless, but hes really intense in Losing Hope. But you can kind of understand why. I loved that you could see the story through Holder’s eyes. Experience his story and his feelings when that certain event happened. If you thought you knew Holder in Hopeless, you are mistaken. You won’t truly know him until you read Losing Hope.

Holder will completely surprise you. He did with me and there are certain scenes where I felt for him. My heart ached for him and although I understood why he did it, I wanted him to forgive himself, let himself love and this is why he and Sky were so perfect together. They were right together because they balanced each other out. They knew what they other needed without exchanging words. They knew each other well enough to know what the other was feelings.

“I live you Sky…I live you so much”

Just the littlest things they did meant so much to one another and I love this kind of love. It’s the purest form and they both definitely love one another so much that they can’t live without each other.

Holder is angry, hes confused, hes scared and he can’t forgive himself for losing both his girls but you watch him slowly fall in love, slowly learn to forgive himself and his sister, learn that he can breathe again and that Sky is the end game for him. She’s everything to him and he can’t and will never lose her again. It would kill him.

We see him relationship with his sister, Les, with his mum and of course Sky. We see different sides to him, sides you will fall in love with, sides you will want to smack his head but you will understand why, why he acted that way, why he did that certain thing. And in the end you will sob your heart out, be madly in love with Holder and love the journey he has been through in the last 13 months, see how far hes come, especially with Sky.

NOW to Daniel, Holder’s best friend. I cannot tell you how hilarious this dude is. The first time he is mentioned, I wanted to kiss him because the things he says are just so freaking funny. He is an awesome best friend to Holder, protecting him and sticking up for him, even wanting to get into fights for him. You know he will always have your back. The banter between him and Holder had me in stitches and you can really see the bromance between the two. It was lush to see that Holder had someone who cared for him and would do anything for him.

The ending was perfect. You see the closure that Sky and of course Holder needed. The closure to breathe again, to learn to love and forgive and let go of the grief that was held up inside of him. You see he and Sky come along way, a life where they are both in love with each other, a life where they are the end game and are happy together – happy to have finally found each other again.

Although it would be totally lush to have a book beyond Hopeless and losing Hope, I love the fact that it ended like that. Where Holder learnt to forgive and he and Sky are off to start the rest of their lives together. The way it should be.

If you have get to read Hopeless, please do get it. It is easily one of my favourites and I cannot recommend it enough. You will love Sky and Holder. Then go and buy Losing Hope and fall even more in love with Holder and his story this time. There are a lot of surprises and twists in losing Hope that aren’t in Hopeless and you will feel every emotion, and cry your eyes out. Remember what I said….if a book makes you cry, it’s a bloody, damn great one!

My Review

“Yes, I don’t own you, Savannah, but you know what? You fucking own me. You have since the first time I met you…”

I’ve known Rachel for a few months now, and I have been utterly peeing my pants over wanting to read Just Breathe, I even made her send me small teasers – okay, that’s a lie, she voluntarily sent me teasers in a DM during the countdown to me getting an ARC of Just Breathe. I’m such a lucky girly! I got more Tate 😉

I’m not sure if I should be telling you this but blah…a few days before I got my ARC, Rachel sent me the prologue and chapter 1 and 2 to tide me over until I got the little gem in my inbox. LIKE WHATTTT, I need more. But I didn’t get anything more. I was and still am under the Tate Connors effect and dear god, all you will too when you read Just Breathe. It’s hard to resist.

As a debut novel, Ms. Brookes has written a cracker of a book. Seriously, it is amazing, and if you haven’t yet downloaded it, I’d get right on it!! From the prologue you will become hooked. You may cry – I sure as hell did and you will swoon because the prologue is just so sweet. It pours with love and Rachel does a brilliant job of making you feel the emotions of the characters involved, especially Sav and Tate.

Rachel’s writing flows, the plot flows and once you start, you will neeeeed to get to the end, to see what happens. If there is a cliff-hanger or if it ends perfectly so book two will carry off from there? If you follow me on twitter, you will know from my posts how much I was loving this book, how much I was loving the characters and how every time I was reading in public, it was like Rachel knew I was surrounded by people so a sex scene had to come alone and get me all hot and bothered.

But because I love Rachel, I could let that go and just focus on the beauty of all the characters, the way they all love each other and of course, the love between Tate and Sav.

Savannah ‘Sav’ Rae hasn’t had the best life; it’s been hard to say the least. Losing her parents at a young age, and then being blamed for the suicide of her ex-boyfriend can turn anyone’s life upside down and so because of this tragedy so doesn’t want to give her heart away again, so she rebels, she becomes a player, she drinks away the pain and uses guys. That’s who Sav is now and it’s how she copes. But when an opportunity to leave Australia and start afresh in LA calls, she jumps at the chance to leave everything behind.

Tate Connors is the ultimate playboy. The ultimate bachelor who is completely content with his ways; booze, girls and wild nights. With one glance of those blue eyes and he can have girls dropping their panties in an instant. Then one spot of Sav and he knows shes a challenge. He wants her and it seems that from the looks of things, she wants him too.

But there’s more to them than meets the eye. What started as a challenge has turned into more, for both of them and with emotions and lines being crossed and tangled, one this is clear, they are more alike than either of them imagined.

Uhh Tate. The blue eyed sex-on-a-plate guy, who you would literally just want to devour, even if it was just for one night. You would definitely get a fix of him and one look and you will be under the Tate Connor’s effect and drop your panties and mumble incoherent words while he smoulders you with his eyes. NO, I am not overreacting, just you wait and see. Tate will surprise you throughout the book. He surprised me a hell of a lot and I loved that about him. He really is unpredictable. One minute hes douche then the next hes all lovely. Much like Sav, hes a broken man, his past still haunts him but he drinks and sleeps around as a persona, to hide away the pain. That is until Sav walks into his life. Once a to him, she switches him upside down until he doesn’t know what the hell he is doing, apart from wanting to be with Sav.

Despite his playboy nature at the beginning, you really do see Tate blossom. You see his protective side, his possessive side, his sweet side, his sexy side but also his vulnerable side, a painful side where we learn about his past too. We see him journey, from playboy to falling in love and it was so nice to see Tate find someone he could love so much and who reciprocated the feelings. He is a jealous boy and at times I wanted to smack him around the head because he was being a silly fool but he got there in the end and you just fall in love with him. Here is to book two and seeing how he and Sav progress with their relationship. DO NOT hurt my boy Rachel, or I will hunt you down in Aussieland and force you to change the book…but you already know this as I have told you I will do this!

Sav is such an awesome character too. Despite her past and her pain, she is strong. She has to be, she can’t let it get to her, so the drink and the partying and the guys become the norm for her.

She is the female equivalent of Tate and when she spots him, she notices all the moves he does, because she does them too. She sleeps with guys then leaves but something about Tate makes her insides fuzzy and she feels. She doesn’t want to though and not feeling helps her with to not deal with her past and the pain.

Despite her being a strong, independent character, you slowly watch Sav break – in a good way – and watch her develop feelings – for her best friends and for Tate. They scare her as she has never really had a girlfriend before and she doesn’t want to love after being told shes the reason her ex killed himself. But it was refreshing to see this side to her. The side where she was vulnerable to love and how her strong persona cracked a bit when a certain event happen on a day where it was such a big night for her.

Despite all this, Sav can really hold her own against everyone, especially Tate and I loved their bickering and banter and their fights. It all added into the sexual tension and the need for one another when they were resisting. But of course, with two gorgeous people wanting to jump one another, it was inevitable that it was going to happen sooner or later.

Tate and Sav have this connection. Like this super sexy and magnetic connection. It’s instant, the moment their eyes meet and you can see they are both affected by one another. Their sexual tension was just holy hell. Their chemistry was electric and you could literally feel it when you read about the two of them together. The banter they gave each other was hysterical, the cute moments were adorable and they were both just made for one another. They had both been dealt the same shitty cards in their life that together, they knew what the other was going through and could begin to help one another out. I loved Sav and Tate together.

I absolutely adore all the secondary characters. Seriously they are the bomb. The bond they have is just unbreakable. They are there for each other; they love one another unconditionally and have each other’s backs. I love friendship groups like this, who can just relax and make fun of each other and banter like hell. Tanzi, Jack, Lucas are just all brilliant and they welcome Sav with open arms.

Now, I can’t forget my love – Mr Davenport. He is swoon worthy and had me from the get go. I went a bit mad to Rachel over him when I first read him because he is bleeding awesome. This line from him just confirmed how bloody brilliant he is and I knew that my love for him would jus grow throughout the book and it did. Simon Baker is my Mr. Davenport.

For the last fucking time, please call me Simon. You make me sound like some kind of pimp when you call me Mr. Davenport”

Can you see how much I love this guy?! Just remember, I have dibs on him. Yupp, I really do.

Now, after my swooooooning, I have to talk about the sex. C’mon, would you expect anything less from me? No? That’s better. You all know I love sex in books, and by god, Rachel got me all hot and bothered with the sex scenes between Tate and Sav. There a quite a lot and by god, you literally lap them up. Rachel knows how to write a sex scene that is intense and steamy and wants you just want to fan yourself and then search for your own Tate to jump on. They sizzle, burn, pop and where they have sex is just another thing. I love water hahaahha 😉

As I’ve said, Just Breathe is an amazing book. Its full of banter and angst and heartache but its filled with love  and friendship and it was a great book to snuggle up in bed with and read on the way to work…baring in mind most of the sex scenes occurred on the way to work.

I would highly recommend Rachel’s book to you lovely lot, you will not be disappointed. I just wish book two was out now so I can carry on Tate and Sav’s journey.

Hurry up Aussie 😉

My Review

If Holly could rewind that night, she would have never let college sweetheart walk out the door. That night changed everything and since her boyfriend died after a tragic mountaineering accident, she is struggling to put her life back together. With the help of her best friend Jenna, she is trying to put her grief aside and get on with her life. But it’s just hard.

Carter Hansen was with Holly’s boyfriend the night of his death. He brings back horrible memories from that night but he finds a way back into Holly’s life. He just wants to know shes okay and he wants her to know the truth about that night too. Although she doesn’t want anything to dowith him, the more time they have to spend together, the more they become friends. He evokes felings in her she thought she’d never feel, but shes scared.

Carter has seen more death in his life than he should have and even though everyone tells him that night wasn’t his fault, he can’t help but feel guilt and he can’t forgive himself. He needs to forgive himself but he needs Holly to understand the truth of that night first.

What happens when their relationship grows, their wounds begin to heal but Holly finds out about that night? That everyone knew apart from her? Will it tear Holly and Carter apart?

When I saw Fall From Love was having a tour, I literally signed up that very moment. I had read the synopsis and had wanted to read the book asap. As soon as it was gifted to me, that was it. I HAD to read it. I was pulled in from the very first page and from then on, I was sucked in and had to get to the end, to know what was going to happen and see the journey that Holly (and Carter) take, along and together.

Ms. London has a way in which she captivates you within the fiction world. She wrote characters in which you care for. You feel for them, whether it’s to smack them across the head, cry for them, want to give advice or want to be their friend, I felt this way with Holly. Wanting to help her through everything she was feeling, wanting to get her to open her eyes, but then I felt the same with Carter too.

You really do go through the motions. You cry, laugh, swoon, want to beat them around the head, want to shout, throw your kindle down, have your own heart aching, but I love these emotions. It made the book and the pain of what Holly and Carter had been through real.

Carter – I loved him. I can’t reiterate how much I loved reading about him. He’s broken, having known so much about death in his 22 years. He has guilt pouring through him, he has pain pouring through him and since that night of Adam’s death, all hes wanted to do was protect Holly. His caring side showing through. Wanting to make sure she was okay, wanting to save her really from the grief that overtook.

Although consumed with pain, feelings shone through Carter. Feelings that he didn’t really understand but feelings that he welcomed, even if he couldn’t share them. He was a great character, he was funny and sweet and vulnerable too.  You wanted to help take away the pain, be there for him, be his friend, be his girlfriend. Help him through the night of Adam’s death that he held onto so badly.

But he was a dipstick at times. He wanted Holly, he wanted her more than a friend but he was scared. Scared of losing her, of losing her if things didn’t work out and scared of telling her the truth. You just wanted to smack him across the head and tell him that Holly wanted him too and to just go for it. You could see the confliction go through him. He had lost so much and if he lost Holly too, it would kill him. The journey he takes, you see him forgive himself, fall in love and revert back to his old self, the person who is happy and loved up. It was a great sight to see.

I loved Holly and her journey. You see her retreating, and rightly so when her boyfriend Adam dies. You see the pain, the grief, the longing for him to be there with her. She just can’t get over the fact that one night he was there, and the next he was gone. Ripped from her. Her pain eats her up.

Her journey is a tough one. She takes it day by day. Some days are good, some are bad, but she proceeds to try and get over her grief with the help of her best friend Jenna and Carter. You see her become stronger day by day, fall in love with Carter, but shes petrified of her feelings. Her feelings for Carter and scared about losing him, as he is too.

There is such a strong connection between them, that they try to ignore it, but they both feel it. With the help of loved ones, she finally breaks down the barrier she has up, she lets go of her pain and the grief she holds onto and although she will always love Adam, she loves Carter. When a certain situation happens, you see just how much she loves him, going to him, waiting for him and showing him that he won’t lose her.

I loved watching her grow, loved watching her become herself again, finding herself, finding love and becoming the strong girl she used to be.

There love was a slow build up. From friends, to best friends, to lovers. It was great to see their relationship move slowly, getting to know one another, falling in love over time. Nothing was rushed, it was taken at a steady pace and even though there were so hiccups along the way, everything turns out fine in the end. Everything is sorted out and they finally succumb to their feelings, after shying away and hiding them for so long. Afraid to change what they had together.

My favourite scene includes Carter and Holly. It involves a night when Carter is mountain rescuing and Holly is freaking out. I’m not going to say anything else about what happens, but it’s a pivotal point between these two and one that changes their whole relationship. For the better or for worse? That is something that you need to read to find out yourself 😉

Jenna and Josh (Carters bff) are amazing secondary characters…okay they aren’t so secondary as they are literally a foursome, they all do everything together. They are so cute and funny together, you can see the love they have for one another and for their respecitive best friend. Jenna is awesome, she is always there for Holly, through thick and thin and she will do whatever she can to make sure Holly can get through Adam’s death and slowly convert back into the old Holly, the one who was full of life. She’s there to help her heal. Josh is the same with Carter. Carter and Josh have been best buds since they were little and have been through so much together. Both friends just want to see their friends happy….with each other as its obvious that Holly and Carter want one another. They say the best things to push them together and I loved Josh and Jenna, together, in their relationship and as friends to the two.

Fall From Love is an emotional journey. A journey of grief, friendship, love and overcoming your past to focus on your present and future. It truly was a great book to read, and I would recommend it to all you lovely people to grab your copy and become engrossed within the story of Carter and Holly. It’s definitely real and heart-clenching and a book that should be read by everyone.

Today Holly Baker is going to be guest reviewing Savor You by Emily Snow. As I have yet to read the Devoured series, her review has definitely made me add these books to my TBR list!!

Check out her review below 🙂

17281601Synopsis

Kylie Wolfe and guitarist Wyatt McCrae have been bad for each other for the last several years, but it’s impossible for them to end their toxic push and pull. Not when their attraction is constantly fueled by lust and proximity—she’s her older brother’s Lucas’s assistant and Wyatt is his best friend and band mate.

So when Your Toxic Sequel makes a move to record a new album in Nashville, Kylie decides to make the latest break with Wyatt official by getting the hell out of town. She’ll spend a week in New Orleans. A week to immerse herself in the Mardi Gras scene. One week to not think about the last time she was in New Orleans, seven years ago with Wyatt. Seven days where she won’t have to see Wyatt every day just to fall ridiculously in love with him all over again—where, if she wants to, she can have a normal, no-strings attached fling that won’t end in heartbreak.

Too bad Wyatt ruins everything by showing up, as gorgeous and demanding and goddamn awful for her as ever.

Wyatt refuses to let Kylie give up on him. Not without reminding her why they both fell so far and hard in the first place. Not without making her savor the good memories and what could be their last chance with each other.

Note: This is a spinoff from the Devoured series.

Holly’s review

Savor You is a spin off from Emily Snow’s Devoured series, which I absolutely loved!! I mean, what’s not to love about sexy rock star Lucas Wolfe and his band Your Toxic Sequel? So when I heard that a book about Lucas’ younger Sister and PA Kylie, and his guitarist Wyatt was to be released, my expectations were high. But that’s probably where I went wrong. Because I was left feeling kind of let down by Kylie’s story. Don’t get me wrong, I still thought it was good, but I didn’t love it and I truly hate to say that because I think Emily Snow is a fantastic writer.

Kylie and Wyatt have had a crazy on-off relationship for 7 years. It’s intense and toxic which is never a good mix but no matter how many times they get burned, they keep going back for more. Just as Kylie finally decides to kick the habit and end things with Wyatt for good, he has other ideas. He turns up at the end of her vacation and asks for a few days to try and prove to her why they should give it one last try, by taking her to places that had memories for them, so she could remember why they fell in the first place. Their relationship wasn’t exactly stable, but I loved Wyatt for doing this despite the fact that most of their past encounters were tinged with sadness, they still meant something to him.

There were quite a few aspects of the story that I enjoyed. We find out the meaning behind Kylie’s many tattoos which really made me feel for her and I found myself hoping she didn’t get any more for this reason. The name “Brenna” popped up quite a few times and I really wanted to find out who this girl was and how she came between Kylie and Wyatt at some point in their past, and when her identity is revealed I was seriously surprised and I loved it!! We get to Lucas again and I still loved him just as much as in Devoured and what made me love him even more is that at the end of Savor You, we get to see Lucas’ POV from the end of Devoured and it is awesome!

Two characters that really stood out for me in this book were Kylie’s BFF Heidi, and YTS band mate Cal. I loved these two so much! They really bounced off each other and left me wanting more, so I was really happy when Emily told me that depending on what the fans wanted, she has plans to do books in this series for Cal and Heidi, and Sinjin and a mystery lady. So if you read this book, make sure you tell her how much you loved the secondary characters, and fingers crossed, we will get more.

Overall I found myself wishing for more energy to Savor You, but to be honest, I don’t think Kylie and Wyatt’s story could be told any other way. It wasn’t all happy, hearts and flowers. It was tough. It was intense. It was broken. But it was theirs. Unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. I still love the Author’s writing and I will continue to buy future books from her including this series. I am still very much a fan of Emily Snow and I look forward to reading what she brings out next.
