17285743Synopsis

1,135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.

As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I ❤ Sam Green” T-shirt Harper promised she’d have on.

To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him

West’s Interview

For someone who likes ice-cream, West is sure as hell late to this meeting. Sitting facing the door, I look around and see mothers and their young children happily munching away on the cold stuff, sprinkles all down their tops and ice cream around their face.

Checking the time on my watch again, West is now 10 minutes late and I really want an ice cream. Debating whether or not to wait, I decide that ice cream is just too tempting and lean down to take my purse out of my bag when the bell on the door rings and in walks West, looking around until he spots me and begins to head over.

Standing up from the chair, I hold my hand out to greet West and give him a smile back.

Hi West, thanks for coming.

Of course! I was promised ice cream.

Okay before we get started, fancy an ice cream?

Yes, yes I do. 🙂 I honestly feel bad for anyone who would turn this down.

With our ice creams in our hands, we take a seat back at the table, and after a lick, I get down to business.

Right, first things first, are you still vlogging? I know you said you were too busy, but I’m sure everyone is missing your videos.

I am, I am. I’m not as into it, though. I have a life now, a real life, and I want to enjoy it as much as possible–if there is one thing I’ve learned from my mom dying, it’s that the happy times are short sometimes–but vlogging means too much to me to totally ignore.

You said you videoed to feel closer to your mother, that you pretended it was her you were speaking to. How much did that help you?

I never got to say goodbye to her. She was always proud of my vlog, of my taking initiative of my life, and it only felt right to tape vlogs to her. I was talking to her, really talking, because that’s the thing about her I miss most: our conversations. This felt like the perfect solution.

No one knew about your hobby, but didn’t you think somewhere along the lines you would be found out?

I worried, of course, but I’m not exactly the most well-known kid in my tiny town, so I knew the chances were minimal.

You and Harper were pretty close, despite only talking over the internet; just what exactly was it about her that you were drawn to?

She just kind of got me. Between her cow riding a bicycle while simultaneously eating pizza avatar and her complete overall dorkiness, I knew we were meant to be with each other.

Cat is your best friend and you two are pretty awesome together. Did you never think of her in a girlfriend sort of way or did it just never cross your mind at all?

I mean, of course I did. I’m not blind. But I always assumed that what Cat and I had was a pure friendship, and even though I knew I connected with her, I was too happy where we were together, as support systems, as best friends, to even consider anything more.

When Harper turns out to be Cat, your reaction is completely understandable, yet didn’t you even draw up a conclusion that Harper acted a bit like Cat?

Maybe I should’ve noticed, but Harper isn’t anyone I ever really questioned. She made me happy, she was the one bright spot in a tough time, and that’s all that mattered to me.

Cat quite literally put her heart on the line when she told you she loved you. Didn’t you ever feel guilty about the way you reacted towards that revelation?

I did. I really did. I was an idiot, but I was just too taken by surprise. I was already pissed at my father that day and desperate because what felt like the one good thing in my life at the time–Harper–turned out to be a fake. I lashed out. I was weak. I didn’t know what to do. I’m just so grateful that Cat believed in me enough to stay friends with me until… we became more.

Cat is such a strong person. I loved how she just never gave up on you and her feelings for you. How did that make you feel? I know you didn’t like that she kept doing little things to try and make you feel something for her, but you had to know that in the end, you would inevitably fall for her?

I didn’t really think I would fall for her, actually. I knew I loved her–in the friend sense–but it took me a while to realize that my self-categorized “friend” love for her was real love all along. I always loved her, it turns out, and I just never realized it. And she showed me that I did. I’m so grateful for that, because I’m happier than ever with her now.

What is it about ice cream that you and Cat are just so obsessed with?

Ha. Haha. HAHAHA.

Taste it. Eat it with vanilla and rainbow sprinkles. You will find the light.

We know the point in which your feelings changed for Cat, but how did you get to that point?

I guess I just found myself looking at her differently after she admitted her feelings to me. I noticed things about her, about her appearance, about her laugh–things I never noticed before. And we already meshed so well, so I couldn’t help but think… that we belong together. Forever.

You and your father didn’t exactly get on after the death of your mother, but we see him change towards the end. How is your relationship with him now?

I like to keep that to myself. We’re working on it; that’s all I feel comfortable saying.

Cat told you that she wanted to spend a week away with a guy she loves at a beach house, and she did exactly that. What did you get up to during that time?

Let’s put it this way: there were numerous times when her lips were covered with ice cream, and whenever her lips are covered with ice cream, I, being the awesome gentleman I am, kiss it off for her.

Also, there was A LOT of strolling around the beaches, sunglasses on, heads bobbing, trying to look as cool as possible. We are badasses, did I mention that?

And how are you and Cat now? How is it having her as your best friend and girlfriend?

It is awesome! I swear she’s the only girlfriend who shares my idea of a date: eating ice cream while simultaneously making fools of ourselves to everyone around us. Multitasking, am I right?

Thanks so much for the interview West. Now before I go, fancy racing to see who can finish another ice cream first? You can buy the next lot when I win!

For Savannah Rae, living life without her parents was unimaginable. But being blamed for her first love’s suicide? That destroyed every part of who she was.

Gone were the days of innocence, happiness, and dreams. Now her days simply meant attempting to survive. In her mind, her only means for that was replacing her grief with men, booze and the fast life. And for five years, it worked.

When an opportunity to leave the nightmares of her past in Australia opens up, she takes it. Los Angeles beckons – with hopes of late nights, new beginnings, and the promise of a string of endless men to distract her, she can’t wait to dive in.

One thing she didn’t count on was meeting her match.

In the eyes of outsiders, Tate Connors has it all; the ultimate LA bachelor who is content with his lifestyle of wild nights, women and one night stands. He’s Mr. Unpredictable with looks that could destroy any woman with one glance.

The craziness of Los Angeles throws them into the chaotic path of each other. Savannah becomes the perfect game, and Tate becomes the ultimate prey. Lines are crossed, emotions are smashed, and the idea of who they truly are begins to be tangled.

My Review

“Yes, I don’t own you, Savannah, but you know what? You fucking own me. You have since the first time I met you…”

I’ve known Rachel for a few months now, and I have been utterly peeing my pants over wanting to read Just Breathe, I even made her send me small teasers – okay, that’s a lie, she voluntarily sent me teasers in a DM during the countdown to me getting an ARC of Just Breathe. I’m such a lucky girly! I got more Tate 😉

I’m not sure if I should be telling you this but blah…a few days before I got my ARC, Rachel sent me the prologue and chapter 1 and 2 to tide me over until I got the little gem in my inbox. LIKE WHATTTT, I need more. But I didn’t get anything more. I was and still am under the Tate Connors effect and dear god, all you will too when you read Just Breathe. It’s hard to resist.

As a debut novel, Ms. Brookes has written a cracker of a book. Seriously, it is amazing, and if you haven’t yet downloaded it, I’d get right on it!! From the prologue you will become hooked. You may cry – I sure as hell did and you will swoon because the prologue is just so sweet. It pours with love and Rachel does a brilliant job of making you feel the emotions of the characters involved, especially Sav and Tate.

Rachel’s writing flows, the plot flows and once you start, you will neeeeed to get to the end, to see what happens. If there is a cliff-hanger or if it ends perfectly so book two will carry off from there? If you follow me on twitter, you will know from my posts how much I was loving this book, how much I was loving the characters and how every time I was reading in public, it was like Rachel knew I was surrounded by people so a sex scene had to come alone and get me all hot and bothered.

But because I love Rachel, I could let that go and just focus on the beauty of all the characters, the way they all love each other and of course, the love between Tate and Sav.

Savannah ‘Sav’ Rae hasn’t had the best life; it’s been hard to say the least. Losing her parents at a young age, and then being blamed for the suicide of her ex-boyfriend can turn anyone’s life upside down and so because of this tragedy so doesn’t want to give her heart away again, so she rebels, she becomes a player, she drinks away the pain and uses guys. That’s who Sav is now and it’s how she copes. But when an opportunity to leave Australia and start afresh in LA calls, she jumps at the chance to leave everything behind.

Tate Connors is the ultimate playboy. The ultimate bachelor who is completely content with his ways; booze, girls and wild nights. With one glance of those blue eyes and he can have girls dropping their panties in an instant. Then one spot of Sav and he knows shes a challenge. He wants her and it seems that from the looks of things, she wants him too.

But there’s more to them than meets the eye. What started as a challenge has turned into more, for both of them and with emotions and lines being crossed and tangled, one this is clear, they are more alike than either of them imagined.

Uhh Tate. The blue eyed sex-on-a-plate guy, who you would literally just want to devour, even if it was just for one night. You would definitely get a fix of him and one look and you will be under the Tate Connor’s effect and drop your panties and mumble incoherent words while he smoulders you with his eyes. NO, I am not overreacting, just you wait and see. Tate will surprise you throughout the book. He surprised me a hell of a lot and I loved that about him. He really is unpredictable. One minute hes douche then the next hes all lovely. Much like Sav, hes a broken man, his past still haunts him but he drinks and sleeps around as a persona, to hide away the pain. That is until Sav walks into his life. Once a to him, she switches him upside down until he doesn’t know what the hell he is doing, apart from wanting to be with Sav.

Despite his playboy nature at the beginning, you really do see Tate blossom. You see his protective side, his possessive side, his sweet side, his sexy side but also his vulnerable side, a painful side where we learn about his past too. We see him journey, from playboy to falling in love and it was so nice to see Tate find someone he could love so much and who reciprocated the feelings. He is a jealous boy and at times I wanted to smack him around the head because he was being a silly fool but he got there in the end and you just fall in love with him. Here is to book two and seeing how he and Sav progress with their relationship. DO NOT hurt my boy Rachel, or I will hunt you down in Aussieland and force you to change the book…but you already know this as I have told you I will do this!

Sav is such an awesome character too. Despite her past and her pain, she is strong. She has to be, she can’t let it get to her, so the drink and the partying and the guys become the norm for her.

She is the female equivalent of Tate and when she spots him, she notices all the moves he does, because she does them too. She sleeps with guys then leaves but something about Tate makes her insides fuzzy and she feels. She doesn’t want to though and not feeling helps her with to not deal with her past and the pain.

Despite her being a strong, independent character, you slowly watch Sav break – in a good way – and watch her develop feelings – for her best friends and for Tate. They scare her as she has never really had a girlfriend before and she doesn’t want to love after being told shes the reason her ex killed himself. But it was refreshing to see this side to her. The side where she was vulnerable to love and how her strong persona cracked a bit when a certain event happen on a day where it was such a big night for her.

Despite all this, Sav can really hold her own against everyone, especially Tate and I loved their bickering and banter and their fights. It all added into the sexual tension and the need for one another when they were resisting. But of course, with two gorgeous people wanting to jump one another, it was inevitable that it was going to happen sooner or later.

Tate and Sav have this connection. Like this super sexy and magnetic connection. It’s instant, the moment their eyes meet and you can see they are both affected by one another. Their sexual tension was just holy hell. Their chemistry was electric and you could literally feel it when you read about the two of them together. The banter they gave each other was hysterical, the cute moments were adorable and they were both just made for one another. They had both been dealt the same shitty cards in their life that together, they knew what the other was going through and could begin to help one another out. I loved Sav and Tate together.

I absolutely adore all the secondary characters. Seriously they are the bomb. The bond they have is just unbreakable. They are there for each other; they love one another unconditionally and have each other’s backs. I love friendship groups like this, who can just relax and make fun of each other and banter like hell. Tanzi, Jack, Lucas are just all brilliant and they welcome Sav with open arms.

Now, I can’t forget my love – Mr Davenport. He is swoon worthy and had me from the get go. I went a bit mad to Rachel over him when I first read him because he is bleeding awesome. This line from him just confirmed how bloody brilliant he is and I knew that my love for him would jus grow throughout the book and it did. Simon Baker is my Mr. Davenport.

For the last fucking time, please call me Simon. You make me sound like some kind of pimp when you call me Mr. Davenport”

Can you see how much I love this guy?! Just remember, I have dibs on him. Yupp, I really do.

Now, after my swooooooning, I have to talk about the sex. C’mon, would you expect anything less from me? No? That’s better. You all know I love sex in books, and by god, Rachel got me all hot and bothered with the sex scenes between Tate and Sav. There a quite a lot and by god, you literally lap them up. Rachel knows how to write a sex scene that is intense and steamy and wants you just want to fan yourself and then search for your own Tate to jump on. They sizzle, burn, pop and where they have sex is just another thing. I love water hahaahha 😉

As I’ve said, Just Breathe is an amazing book. Its full of banter and angst and heartache but its filled with love  and friendship and it was a great book to snuggle up in bed with and read on the way to work…baring in mind most of the sex scenes occurred on the way to work.

I would highly recommend Rachel’s book to you lovely lot, you will not be disappointed. I just wish book two was out now so I can carry on Tate and Sav’s journey.

Hurry up Aussie 😉

My Review

Before I start my review, I want to say a few things regarding my rating of April Showers. Firstly I want to say that I was completely impartial when reading this book. I read it without being bias and I am reviewing it like I would with any books that I read/given an ARC too. With honesty.

Just because Karli is my twinnie doesn’t mean that she has been given special treatment and I haven’t based my stars on her, it is on her book, her writing, and the emotions that I experienced throughout the book. So before I have people telling me I am bias, I let go of the fact that I know Karli and read it like any other book.

Secondly, I have dibs on Isaac from the start / when I first ‘met’ Karli and she shared him with me, so back off girlies, he is mine! Hahah.

And lastly, I love my twinnie. I am so proud of her and the acknowledgment made me cry. It was the sweetest thing ever.

Now that is all out of the way, let’s get on with the review of April Showers.

When April Adams enrolled in Manchester University, never in a million years did she think her life would end up the way it did. On the first day, she quite literally runs into the hottest guy on campus – Isaac Sharpe. That chance meeting is now all she can think about. But what happens when she finds out exactly who Isaac is? Her heart just broke.

Lukas Roberts is the first friend April meets on her course. He quickly becomes her best friend, her security blanket, the one she can rely on. But what happens when all is not what it seems?

April is caught up in a battle between her head and her heart. What she wants and what she doesn’t want, or more importantly, to her, can’t have.

But what is April going to do? A big believer in fate, will everything fall into place at the right time for her or will it be too late?

For a debut novel, Karli Perrin has included everything in her book. Humor, swooning, frustration, tears, sarcasm, heartbreak, love, pain, laughter and an amazingly awesome best friend that everyone will fall in love with as well as two hot guys you will love too…but remember, Isaac is mine. Don’t worry; I’ll keep reminding you throughout this review.

It is simply the perfect first novel to share with the world. Karli has obviously put a lot of time and effort into making it the book she is proud of and a book which we can all become engrossed with. I know I sure did. I became crazy public transport lady with all my crazy ass smiling and giggling at my phone (I used the kindle app to read it).

There is something in the book for everyone. Ms. Perrin’s writing style is one that I simply loved. The writing flowed, the plot flowed, she makes you care about the characters and before you know it, you have devoured the book and are at the final page, with tears in your eyes, shouting at your kindle/Phone and begging it not to end there. Begging Karli to write book two as soon as possible so we can find out what happens.

As I’ve mentioned, April Adams is starting her first year at Manchester University. Already running late on her first day, she literally runs into something hard. That something turns out to be Isaac Sharpe. The hottest guy around. It’s basically love at first sight, but what comes after that is a series of events and heartbreak that she just can’t deal with at the moment. Her head and heart are both saying to different things but Isaac will never give up on her.

That very same day she meets Lukas Roberts. He’s in the class she is late for and they strike up a friendship. He’s her security blanket for all the anguish and dilemmas she is going through even if she doesn’t share them. But all is not what it seems with him either and when April is told his secrets, can she forgive him or is that the end for their friendship?

April has a decision to make. A ‘can’t or won’t’ will not suffice this time around.

I’m going to start with my boyfriend. YES, my boyfriend Isaac. (Told you I’d remind you). He is the epitome of a hunkalicious man. A man that I think everyone would love to run into and have him pick you up! He’s adorable, sexy, and sarcastic and I would give anything to banter with him….and I have done! Wait for the interview!!

He’s passionate and outspoken and loveable and sexy (yes, twice sexy) and fiery and will fight for April despite the…..No, that’s a spoiler, I can’t reveal that. You’ll have to read it to find out exactly who he is…and I suppose most of you wouldn’t care either 😉 It would be so HOT. But anyway, my heart broke for him when we find out about him…vague, I know. But I love him. I.LOVE.HIMMMMM.

You see his sensitive side too; a side of pain as well as we find out about his past. And dear god, it will make you cry and want to comfort him and be so proud of him at the same time. He’s done a great job in preserving a memory of his younger years.

He says things like this too, which would make your panties drop in an instant:-

“Your lipstick is driving me fucking crazy”
“If you were mine, you would never have to share”
“Embarrassing? I’m not embarrassed. I’m scared. Scared that you don’t want anything to do with me”
“I love hearing you say my name”
‘He took my hand and held it against his chest, “Feel that? It beats for you.”’
“You’re keeping those heels on”

Okay, I need to stop or this review will just turn into quotes from Isaac. But you get why I love him?!
Isaac also has tattoos, and you alllllll know that I am partial to some tattoos 😉

Now onto the girl of the book, April Adams. I really liked April. Shes also sarcastic and the comebacks and banter she has with both Lukas and Isaac had me in stitches. Shes a girl after my own heart and she can definitely hold her own. She’s honest, probably not with her heart though, and at times she broke my heart over the pain of what was going on. I wanted to shake her and tell her to just go for it (Soooo can’t say what for though, complete spoiler for the book) but I wanted her to say ‘Fuck it’.

I could understand her reservations about it, why she couldn’t because in some ways I would be thinking the same, but then the chemistry between her and Isaac is amazing. It sizzles and pops. You can truly see how much they should be together. Every time they look at one another it’s like BOOM!

Here are just a few of my favs that she says:-

“I want you to take me home…but I’ll be okay”
“I was never going to be able to look at a tree in the same way again.”
“If you come a little closer, I’ll be able to see right up your kilt.”

Despite everything that happens to April, she does get a happy ending….even if you will cry your eyes out at what happens next. We shall have to see if it lasts in book two.

Now Lukas Roberts. Lukas, Lukas Lukas. Scottish Lukas. Hes a difficult one. He was an absolute gem to April, always there for her, their banter was hilarious, and they just gelled from the first moment they met and it was great to see such a strong friendship between them. He truly was the one she turned to and her security blanket when everything goes tits up. But then I’m conflicted over him. I don’t know whether I should like him or dislike him after he confesses something to April.

He had me with tears in my eyes on the train (thank god for sunglasses), gasping at my phone and I got really angry and started ranting to Karli about him. Okay, so in some ways you can see why he didn’t tell April that secret, he wanted people to see him for him, but then wouldn’t you tell April if you’re her best friend? I still don’t know whether to like him or not. We’ll have to see in the next book. See if he really does redeem himself….

Because of my dirty mind, this one quote from him sticks out to me:

“You know…whips, chains, handcuffs. Like I said, the essentials.”

EEEEEE now onto the best friend eveeeer. Katie. Oh smokes, she is freaking amazeballs. I can see parts of myself in her, and I was sat there going “oh hell yes I would say this.” She is hilarious. She comes out with some great lines that will have you spitting your drink out but she always has the best advice. She’s just obviously based on me hahahah.

She’s an amazing friend to April, always there when she needs someone to talk to. She makes her see sense, even if April doesn’t take it on board straight away or shrugs it off and she helps her along with the thing or lack of, that is happening with Isaac.

She’s also a bantersaurous rex and can definitely hold her own. Shes fiery and can bite your head off in an instant as well as dropping you down a peg or too. Someone you definitely need in your life. Her and April really are two peas in a pod. I can’t wait to see more of her in book two.

Now onto Katie’s quotes:-

“At least sleep with him before you get rid.”
All I want is to be a MILF, is that too much to ask for?”
“It’s like I’m the guy in the relationship.”
“Well if you’re not going to sleep with him, can I have him?”
“There’s nothing better than watching a dick get turned down…Literally”
“You said he was hot. You didn’t tell me he was smoking hot, I bet you could cook food on his abs.”

I’ll stop there, as with Isaac, I could just write a review full of quotes.

Now this is the point where I normally tell you my favourite scene, but I really can’t because it would spoil it for you. I know, I know, bad times but let’s say it involves the rain and a certain licking of a certain area on a certain someone’s body. This was so written for me…no Joking, it really was. Enjoy my scene when you get to it. I demanded Karli write it in hahah.

Right, so this is now 4 pages long. I think I should probably stop here. You probably have given up reading this too because I tend to babble on but thank you if you haven’t and have gotten to this stage. I’ll give you some chocolate. But not Isaac. He’s here with me now, so sorry people.

I will reiterate how much I loved April Showers. It’s a bloody awesome read and ya’ll should get your copies TODAY! YES, it’s out TODAY! So what the frigg are you still doing here? Go click on the link and get your copy right now, and begin it right now and see exactly why Isaac is my boyfriend and Katie is my best friend and I love April and why book two needs to be written now. Go Go GOOOOOO!

Throughout the day, I will be posting my Author Interview and Isaac’s interview. They are quite long so it’s only fair to post them separately 😉 Keep you coming back for more.

The Kissing Coach – Mimi Strong

17182006Synopsis

Feather Hilborn is a style and dating coach. Despite what you may have heard, she is not a “kissing coach.”

Devin Nelson is confident and suave, not the kind of guy you’d guess has never kissed a girl. He’s cute, too, which is making it even more difficult for Feather to resist trying to kiss him.

Her first attempt sends him running. The second attempt doesn’t go much better. But you know what they say … third time’s the charm.

Coaching Devin is fun. The only problem is, once Devin “graduates,” some other girl will be benefiting from his new-found kissing skills.

My Review

Feather Hilborn is in no way a ‘kissing coach.’ Her job is a style and dating coach and she does a damn good job at it.

When Devin Nelson gets in contact, the confident and sauve guy has a little problem. He’s never kissed a girl before. And at 22, he wants to rectify his phobia. And he wants Feather to help him out.

It doesn’t help the fact that he’s cute and Feather is attracted to him, but she tries to stay professional and help him out.

Her first attempt makes him run away, the second isn’t that much better, but the third time…well it goes too well.

But what happens when Devin ‘graduates’ and some other girl gets the benefit of kissing him?

The Kissing Coach is a fairly quick and light read. I picked it because I wanted something fun to read and from the synopsis, it sounded like a great short book to pass a few hours with…okay, like an hour and a half, but you know me by now, I get sucked into good books and need to finish them asap.

This is the first book I have read by Mimi Strong and it won’t be the last. I actually have For You on my kindle too, which will be getting a read very soon. Ms. Strong had me laughing, swooning, crying, frustrated and over all enjoying every page of her book. Her writing is easy-going and will have you turning the pages wanting to know more about the story. Never once did I put the book down – I read it straight through, wanting to get to know what was going to happen next.

The Kissing Coach is about Feather Hillborn. She’s a style and dating coach, who gets paid for helping people out who come to her. She gets paid to dish out advice that could be given for free, but you’re more likely to listen to someone if you pay them…right?

Then along comes Devin, her new client and all of a sudden she feels this attraction to him. He’s confident and good looking but he has a phobia. He’s never kissed anyone and he wants to change that. He wants to be able to not be scared to kiss a girl so he comes to Feather for help.

Feather tries to keep her attraction to herself whilst helping Devin. But it’s obvious that there is chemistry between them as well as their fun banter between them both.

Feather has a rule that she won’t start a relationship when coaching a client, although she really wants a relationship or something with Devin.  But she is perfectly find with coaching Devin on kissing, if it means she gets his lips on hers. But as she tries to ease him into the whole kissing situation, things get a little out of hand and he flies.

This happens another time after but the third time is the lucky charm. But then what happens when Devin isn’t so scared to kiss anyone anymore?

Feather is 22, she hasn’t been in a relationship in a long time and this never really bothered her. She was doing well with her job, liked dishing out advice and helping other people get into relationships but then Devin arrived and it changed her whole perception on everything. She wanted a relationship, she wanted a guy to call her own and she wanted to be loved.

Feather to me, seemed old beyond her years, maybe due to what happened in her past (You’ll find out). She was cocky, and knew how to banter along with Devin. But you could see her vulnerable side as well, the side where she is still a 22 year old woman who can be upset, who can make mistakes and sit in front of the TV with ice-cream and your pjs wallowing in self-pity. Despite the shortness of the book, you do see her journey. Journey through keeping her secret from her mother, see her bond with her mother, see her feel all these emotions she has hidden away, see her grow up and fall in love. I really like Feather as a character.

Devin is also 22. He’s a manager at this parent’s hotel. Hes confident, he’s cocky and cheeky but he’ also has a phobia of kissing. He doesn’t know what it’s stemmed from though but he gets anxious over it. This is why he wants Feather to help him. I really liked Devin. You could see just how afraid he was to kiss, how much he really wanted to though, and I could understand his freak-outs the first two times when he ran from Feather, yet he kept coming back. He was determined to get over this fear. Once he kissed Feather, he was like a different man, like a weight had been lifted and he couldn’t stop once he started. Wanting to take it all the way – ahum.

You do find out what made him have this phobia and I felt so sorry for him but I just couldn’t understand why he pushed Feather away. They could have saved the pain of not being together all those months if they had just spoken about it.

But of course, there is a HEA – well they should be or I wouldn’t be reading it haha. It was a great ending, one which had me giggly and pretty much summed up their fun and bantery relationship.

There are some sex scenes involved in this book. They aren’t heavy but they do notch up the steam factor a smidge. Their first time is funny – it was to me. I didn’t know if it was believable though (You’ll understand) but then maybe it was? Oh I don’t know but you can see how much they like one another; their chemistry and need for one another, especially the last sex scene where I was swooning over what Devin was saying to Feather. So sweet!!

Okay, now my favourite scene. I have to say it’s a part where they were role-playing in Feather’s house. When they were helping Devin and they pretended they were on a date and Feather was showing him around the house. Just the start of the role-playing had me chuckling and it was a perfect playing field to make Devin relaxed and kiss Feather whenever he wanted to without feeling anxious.

So if you are looking for a fluffy, fun and funny (Ooo alliteration ;)) book, then The Kissing Coach is definitely the book for you. You will love Devin, you will love Feather and generally, you will love this book too!

My Review

Three years ago, Toby and Esther spent two glorious weeks together in Fiji, where fun and sex were the main course. When the two weeks were up Toby walked away from her, leaving her heartbroken and a few weeks down the line, pregnant.

Now three years later, and in the company of a little boy, Charlie, he and Esther are saved in the midst of an earthquake by no other than Charlie’s dad, Toby, who just so happened to be at the same place, at the right or maybe wrong time.

Toby goes wherever his carpentry skills take him and now he’s in Christchurch. Rescuing the girl who he has always regretted walking away from, it’s a shock to know that the little boy in his arms that he just saved is his own.

Esther doesn’t deny that Charlie is his, nor can’t she bring herself to deny him his right to get to know his little boy. Besides, since her apartment was flattened by the earthquake and with nowhere to go, Toby offers his apartment to Charlie and Esther, which is where she discovers a sexy role-playing card game tucked in his suitcase.

Toby is leaving Christchurch for a few days to attend his best friend’s wedding and he invites Esther and Charlie along with him back to Northland, so he can get to know his son, but also there’s an opportunity to explore their still-sizzling attraction to one another, which is just too tempting to resist.

But as the scenarios heat up, they both start to realize that this is more than just a game. Old feelings are starting to rehash but Esther is hiding a secret that could cause devastation if found out and she doesn’t know whether to spill it or not. It could ruin everything.

I’d firstly like to thanks Serenity Woods for sending me an ARC copy of Six Naughty Nights. You all should know my love for Seven Sexy Sins by now and when Serenity started following me on Twitter, well, I went all fangirl on her and she offered to send me a copy of this sexy book! So here I am, reviewing Six Naughty Nights – the next book in the Love in Reverse series – which was pretty much too hard to put down. Although it did come to a time where I needed sleep and reluctantly had to stop at the next chapter.

For those who have read Seven Sexy Sins, you will know that Toby is a character in that book. The flirty one, the one who everyone teases and it didn’t seem to bother him at all. He’s still the cheeky chap he was in SSS, but we get to see much more of him and his personality. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed at the things that came out of his mouth. He was hilarious.

I love how easy he seemed to slip into the role of being a father, even when he was freaking out about it. He was a natural with Charlie and my heart ached over how much he fell in love with Charlie and how he treated and cared for him even when he had known him for a few hours. It was like he was born to be affectionate and have his own kid to love. He was very family orientated.

Throughout the book, you really see the true Toby appear. Not only is he the cheeky, flirty guy, but he’s sensitive and has insecurities of his own that he has buried deep down because he doesn’t want anyone to know that they do sting when he’s teased. He always tries to get the approval of his friends and family and it pains Esther to see him being treated this way.  He’s insecure over his family because he’s the ‘least educated’ one as his two brothers are Lawyers and Doctors.

Despite his insecurities, Toby had a big heart full of love, and he and Charlie were just so cute together. As I’ve mentioned, Toby was a natural; no awkward talking between the two of them and their conversations just flowed, despite Charlie being just over two years old. And for a two year old, he came out with some goddamn funny lines. I just wanted to cuddle him up and have him talk that way with me. He was the most adorable little kid about and you really could tell he was Toby’s son. I also loved how Toby didn’t treat him as a kid as such; he didn’t talk down to him. That way, he and Charlie bantered was hilarious but they also had so many sweet scenes together and the way Charlie just accepted that Toby was his dad, and started calling him ‘Daddy’ brought a tear to my eye.

“You’ve got a big willy.” Charlie observed. “It’s bigger than mine” He studied his own offering.
“Size isn’t everything, dude, or so they’d have you believe.”

I can’t tell you how much I howled reading this conversation.

Esther is a strong, independent woman, but she also has insecurities. Ever since Toby walked away from her after their two weeks in Fiji, she was heartbroken, distrustful and left pregnant. Since then it’s just been her and Charlie against the world. She doesn’t have any family and doesn’t like anyone helping her, rather doing it herself. After Toby’s attempts of getting in contact with her, she ignores them, wanting to punish him for how he left her. She knew how to contact him but she didn’t want to, she didn’t want him back in her life, even if Charlie did deserve to know his dad and Toby deserved to know he had a son. So when she sees Toby in the supermarket as an earthquake hits, and he gets them to safety, she doesn’t deny that Charlie is his when she’s asked.

I loved that Ms. Woods didn’t make Esther withhold the information to Toby. Many books draw that out and after a while you want to scream at them, but Esther was honest and because of that, they could get past one obstacle about their past and power through the rest.

Esther and Toby’s attraction was still pure. It was still as hot as it was three years ago but right now, Esther doesn’t want her feelings to return. She wants them to stay hidden away and not get heartbroken again by Toby. She wants to resist him but she can’t. So when they propose to play the role-playing game while they are in Northland, they try to do the same as Rusty and Faith – keep it physical and not let any emotions get in the way. Oh, why didn’t they listen to Rusty? They have too much history to keep old feelings away and sex is never just physical (for some people), emotions truly do get in the way. The more time they spend together, and the more they play the games, love is inevitably going to get in the way.

Now on to the games. I FREAKING LOVED THEM! Is this game real? I think I’d like to buy it because holy hell, Toby and Esther role-playing…I needed cold water thrown over me everytime they has sex because I was burning up. I loved how dominant Toby was in the bedroom and although Esther hated being the ‘sub’ because of how independent she was, it did turn her on to be dominated. Although she was always insecure about her body every time she was naked, Toby loved every part of her and that made her come out of her shell and play along. She was brilliant and being pushed to her limits playing someone else. Every sex scene was intense and steamy but I reallllllly like the sex scene where he tied her up. It was intense and made her vulnerable but it was also a pivotal point in their ‘relationship.’

Throughout everything that happens with Toby and Esther and when her secret does come out, I felt so sorry for both of them. They loved one another but Esther was determined it wouldn’t work and the secret hurt Toby, but he kind of understood somewhere deep down, why she did it. But the ending! Oh the ending. It was just amazing and I was cheering that everything, truly, would be okay for them both.

I absolutely enjoyed Six Naughty Nights. Serenity Woods’ books always draw me in and there is always an amazing storyline wrapped into the book, where it’s not just about sex, it’s about a connection and their journey together and alone. She makes me care about all the characters and makes my emotions go all over the place, much like her characters. I will always come back for more with Serenity Woods and I am so glad that I got to receive an ARC of this book from her, because I will definitely be recommending this to everyone and saying how great it is.

PS. Much like Rusty, Toby is definitely a new book boyfriend and I really couldn’t decide who I love best. It wouldn’t be fair 😉

What could possibly go wrong when you have love like that…?
Everything.
What will the future hold…?
Only time will tell.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

My Review

Lexi and Landyn are high school sweethearts. They are totally and utterly in love with one another. Or in Landyn’s case, he’s utterly in love and highly possessive of Lexi. He treats her like she’s the air he needs to breath and he would do anything in his power to make sure she is happy.

But one night at their last high school party before college, the night takes a turn for the worst and Lexi is left downright heartbroken at what has just happened and what she has just heard that she is left with a shattered heart and her trust for men tarnished. She moves away with her best friend for college but her life will never be the same again. Little does she know that years down the line, the stars have led her towards a path she never thought she would come across again…

I’ve been singing this since I finished the book – “Holy shit, holy shit, he is so possessive, he is so possessive, it’s so hot, it’s so hot.” If me singing this does not reiterate how AMAZING this book is, then I’m just a mental case! Grab your copy right now and start reading it because it had me captivated from the first to the last page. It took me – oh like 2 hours to finish it and this is the second book I have read today.

The synopsis is only a glimpse of what this book is about. There is so much in the plot that you will not want to put this book down for anything. I didn’t even put it down to pee that’s how good it was – and I know, too much information. Lexi and Landyn are deliriously in love with one another, but one stupid mistake from Landyn breaks everything they have built together, down. Lexi leaves him and tries to get over him and her heartbreak but 6 years later, and Landyn is back in her life and turning it upside down once again.

Landyn. DAMN BOY! From the first description I was sucker-punched by your beauty and how attractive and utterly smoking you sounded. But when everything blew up at the party, holy moly you asswipe, why did you do it? I really tried to hate you for the pain you caused Lexi, but it was too hard. I saw the pain and anguish in your face, and although I don’t condone what you did, I felt so sorry for you. You really loved Lexi and knew what you did was stupid and wrong but I knew that no matter what, you’d never give up trying to win her back, even if it took years.

Fast forward 6 years later and HELLO LANDYN! It’s good to see you old chum. You’re still as possessive and sexy and dominating as you were at 18. Jump in my bed and abuse my body please? He was such an Alpha male it was literally a turn-on. He always said what he was thinking, even if it was blunt and he was never afraid to express his feelings, regardless of who was about, he would shout his feelings to the world which is what you definitely want in a guy – someone who isn’t afraid to express their emotions!

Sweet baby Jesus, the sex was steammmmmming! Holy hell, I need some dominating sex right now because all I can think about are how great Lexi and Landyn are together. I like dominating and possessiveness when the sex isn’t BSDM – Which thankfully, no BSDM was included in this book. You could see how in love Landyn was with Lexi. His love for her consumed him and he still loved her after all the years they were apart. She was a part of him that he just could never see being without – like a jigsaw puzzle. Even if he never found her again, it was like no other girl would be able to match up to Lexi that much you could see. I would really like him to say “Zoe Baby” to me, because every time he said that to Lexi, my heart skipped a bit over the endearment.

Lexi was left severely heartbroken when she heard what Landyn had done. She loved him with all her heart and really thought they were going to be together forever. Even with her heart shattered, she and her best friend Trish moved away to college but that’s when everything in her life changed. I don’t want to tell you what happened but Lexi has to grow up pretty darn fast and in a way, that’s okay with her. She has Trish to lean on for support through it all, even if it should have been Landyn. She’s learnt to grow a thick skin and she is fiercely independent and protective of her little family. She still thinks about that night 6 years ago but she’s still trying to get over it with the help of Ryan – her boyfriend. Although it seems like she loves him, I suppose there will always be a little reminder in her head that he isn’t Landyn – no matter how much she wants to forget, he was her first love and her only love. Lexi doesn’t take any crap off anyone too, especially Ryan and Landyn and she will definitely knows what and who she wants. I’m just glad she knew her mind when Landyn came back, even if she should have told him the news 6 years ago!

Oh swoon, I loved Trish. She was mouthy, independent, and ballsy and would protect Lexi from absolutely anyone. She wasn’t afraid to tell it how it is or try to kick some butt! But underneath her bravado is someone who keeps up appearances. You find out some information that makes you want to give her a massive hug.

HELLLLLLLO Adam you sexy beast. He was exactly like Landyn and I loved him too! He was sexy, flirty and a police officer who wanted to keep Lexi safe – not from Landyn I may add! But also underneath his bravado he has also been burnt by the love of his life and I’m just hoping that he gets a book so we can find out even more about his life.

Ryan. I never liked him from the get go. Sure enough he helped Lexi out the first time they met with a handsy customer but he seemed a little too weird for my liking. Work consumed him and although he loved Lexi he has a messed-up way of showing it. What he did was not excusable and to use verbal and physical abuse is not okay in any circumstances. I’m just glad that Lexi can hold her own and fight back and I’m glad that she had Trish around when shit hit the fan.

This book has everything in it. From drama, cuteness, sex, laughter, consuming love, possessiveness and friendship. It does deal with serious issues such as verbal and physical abuse, albeit the verbal is over a few chapters and there is one scene where it is physical, but still, it is handled carefully and sensitively by Lynda, and it added into Lexi’s character who took no shit from anybody. The ending is left on a cliff hanger, but a cliff-hanger for Trish – who the second book will be about. GIVE IT TO ME NOW! I need more of these characters in my life!

My Favorite Mistake – Chelsea M. Cameron

15748898Synopsis

Taylor Caldwell can’t decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome, blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he’s a tattooed, guitar-playing bundle of bad boy. Maybe that’s why Taylor’s afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn’t want to get burned, and even though her other roommates adore him, she wants him gone before it’s too late.

Hunter himself has been been burned before, but the fact that Taylor calls him out on his crap and has the sexiest laugh ever make him decide maybe love isn’t a lost cause. They make a bet: if she can convince him she truly loves or hates him, he’ll leave the apartment–and leave her alone. The problem is, the more time they spend together, the less she hates him, and the more she moves toward love.

But when the man who holds the key to Taylor’s fear of giving up her heart resurfaces and threatens to wreck everything, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

My Review

“It doesn’t seem like enough. Seeing your face when you opened it makes me want to buy you a million  things just so i can see that look every single day”

Taylor isn’t happy to see a guy at her doorstep claiming that he’s her new roommate. It means that he has the bed in her room as the other room is occupied and that is not going to sit right with her at all. Seeing as there is nothing anyone can do, Hunter, the new roommate, proposes a deal. If she can prove she hates him, loves him or has sex with him, he will move out and they will never see each other again.

BUT he has the deciding vote to see if she is telling the truth or not. Taylor is determined to prove that she hates him, but the more time they spend together, the more the lines are blurring and love is slowly creeping in.

I have to be honest and say I didn’t exactly warm up to Taylor from the start. The way she behaved when Hunter was at the front door really annoyed me. She could have handled that situation better if she didn’t go off on one. Yes, I understand that it was meant to be a girls only flat and yes, having to share a room with a guy would be totally uncomfortable, but come on, it wasn’t his fault he got placed in the flat and the other two girls seemed more than okay with him living with them – even suggesting to switch rooms with her.

For someone to act that way when they have never met someone, it just didn’t sit right with me. Sure Hunter is cocky, but as Taylor said, she could see he wasn’t like that all the time, but still she was an absolute bitch to him. I suppose once you find out her secret, it makes sense why she was uncomfortable but still, it’s not an excuse to be rude. Saying that, I did warm up to her in the end and really did sympathize with her ways, especially as you can see why she is so afraid to fall in love and be with anyone…until Hunter.

I loved Hunter the first time you read about him. I would be more than happy to have him live with me and share my room! He’s a gorgeous, cocky guy who has five tattoos and plays guitar, yet you know that it’s just an act as he too, is hiding a big secret that he doesn’t want Taylor to find out; no matter how hard she pesters him about it. You can really see the attraction between Taylor and Hunter, and Hunter, even though he hides behind this façade, he really is sweet and kind and sensitive and would do anything for Taylor as he truly wants to be with her, even when he kept going “I don’t like you.” He’s a cheeky chap who speaks his mind and that completely scares Taylor. Yet Taylor is completely different to the type of girls Hunter sleeps with and that scares him too.

As I’ve mentioned, they both have big pasts they don’t want to share but when they do, it brings them closer to one another. They both help each other through their traumas, especially Hunter with Taylor’s, and he shows her that nothing can hurt her anymore and he shows her how much he loves her – more than the stars. I do have to say, their bickering and banter really made the book for me. It was hilarious and sexual and everything I love to read between two characters who are trying to hate one another.

The only downside was how long it took for them to sort their acts out and get together, but in no way is this book boring. They really are meant to be together and when they have sex for the first time, it was perfect for them. The perfect moment to become one and to share their feelings. They do go through some problems, albeit they work through them together and get past them with each other’s help which I loved. This book is really refreshing to read as lately I have been reading a lot of YA/NA with some much drama in, my heart couldn’t take it anymore, but this book was a wonderful read for a lazy New Years Day.

The ending was great! It left room to stand alone or to be expanded and become another book. I for one, vote for another book. I’d love to see more of Taylor and Hunter’s story, but if there isn’t another book, I am satisfied that everything fell into place for them. Hunter is my new fictional boyfriend!

Definitely give My Favorite Mistake a read 😀

Wallbanger – Alice Clayton

15858248Synopsis

Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a KitchenAid mixer, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks). She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O.

Adding insult to O-less, since her move, she has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Each moan, spank, and–was that a meow?–punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has, yep, you guessed it, no O.

Enter Simon Parker. (No, really, Simon, please enter.) When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Their late-night hallway encounter has, well, mixed results. Ahem. With walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick…

In her third novel, Alice Clayton returns to dish her trademark mix of silly and steamy. Banter, barbs, and strutting pussycats, plus the sexiest apple pie ever made, are dunked in a hot tub and set against the gorgeous San Francisco skyline in this hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

My Review

“Open this door you asshole, or I will come through the wall.”

Caroline Reynolds is an interior designer in San Francisco. She’s recently moved into a new apartment with her cat Clive. It’s a great apartment, but there’s just one thing that riles her up nearly every single night…

Enter Simon. He’s the neighbour who has late night wallbanging sex with a different girl each time. You have the girl who giggles, the girl who meows and the girl who likes a bit of spanking. It angers Caroline to no end that he keeps her up at night but even more so, it causes her to become sexually frustrated since she’s lost her O. And yes, that means her orgasm.

Since a bad date ended with sex, the guy she slept with has taken away her O and she loathes him for it. So after weeks of hearing but not seeing the guy who keeps her up at night – and not in a good way – she confronts him when he’s in the middle of his throne of passion and it begins the making of their friendship.

Simon, Simon, Simon. What can I say about him? He’s sexy, funny, caring, a photographer; he travels AND he would definitely give you the best night of your life. Alice wrote this guy to an absolute T. I loved the banter between him and Caroline. They had me laughing so hard at their scenarios and conversations, especially their texts. He’s fond of Caroline and you can also tell he can be sensitive, which is an instant attraction. He definitely would be my type of guy.

Caroline was a great character. She was content in being alone and would happily admit it, but damn girl; she really needed someone to get her O back. She could give as good as he got with Simon, which made their friendship stand out to me. It was flirty and witty and of course there was chemistry between them but it just took a while for them to do anything about it.

The sexual tension between them both literally sizzled out of the book. I could feel it on every page I turned. I did love when they finally had sex. It was long awaited but it was definitely the right time for them both. They were unconventional in the way they began the relationship but it was a great read when they got together.

The sex doesn’t come until near the end of the book but the book was so much more than that. It was about friendships between each other and their friends, being sexual attracted to one another yet not doing anything about it because their friendship seemed more important at the time even though they both wanted something more, and when it did happen, it flourished at every turn.

I bloody loved the names they had for each other, such as Wallbanger, Cockblocker, Nightie Girl etc. They totally made the story and the relationship between them. I have to say though, my favourite scene was when they were ‘telling the truth’ and you finally saw Simon spill his true feelings to Caroline. For two people who wanted to match up their friends together, they took a long time to finally tell each other they had feelings for one another.

This was the first book I had read of Alice Clayton, but the RedHead series looks so good that I will be downloading those books right away!

Seriously, you need to read this book. It had me feeling so many emotions throughout the book and I fell in love with Simon. He was such a character, as was Caroline and they were matched perfectly for one another. So glad I downloaded this book, I couldn’t put it down at all. So going to have to reread this soon.
