Miss stresshead is taking a break.

Hey guys!

I seem to be writing these more frequently recently, but this time i am going to stick by this.

2014 so far has been awesome. My NY resolution is “Put myself out there more” and “Make more of an effort” and for both, I have stuck my ground and done this – in many different ways. I’ve been ‘promoted’ in work too and that is one of the reasons, okay, THE reason I am writing this.

I feel like i actually have three full-time jobs – the upkeeping of The Book Lovers, being a publicist to Emma (which i love) and my actual full-time job. Now with my promotion, i am going to be taking on so much more work than i have been and my stress levels are flying through the roof so far. So much so, i dont want to go online when i get home from work, i dont want to read and all i want to do is sleep and drink wine and i need to focus on me and get myself out of this slump i am in. It’s happen before and i can most definitely get out of it sooner or later.

So i am going to take a few weeks off to just concentrate on my job. The work i am going to be doing is new to me and if i dont fully concentrate on it then the mistakes i make for clients is entirely down to me. Of course, i have two tours coming up, so i will have reviews for them, i have things for Emma Hart, Laura Beege and Anna Bloom planned so i will stick to them but other than that, i am taking time from blogging and probably wont be online as much as I’d like either – as you can already tell.

I’ll still be around if you want to tweet or facebook or even email me but i wont be on it 24/7 like i used to be.

My 2013

6968

2013 has had its ups and down as does any year and at times I have felt so down that I didn’t know what to do, but you know what, I got back up and that is down to all my amazing friends – both in real life and online.

I have met some unbelievably awesome people thanks to Twitter. I have found my twinnie, besties, and close friends thanks to my love of books. I have read books that will always have a place in my heart (along with conjugating an enormous amount of book boyfriends to last me a lifetime!) and been encouraged to write my own book!

I’ve also been able to meet up with a few of my twitter friends in London for the London Author Event back in November and it was the best day I’ve had in a while…i got to meet some of my favourite authors and i got to meet my besties and my twinnie. Counting down the months was a killer but i was so excited and nervous when the day came that it went perfect and i miss them all so much! Here is to the Edinburgh Book Signing in July!! WOOP WOOP.

I got a new job, leaving retail behind and i am actually happy in this job. I moved out (albeit i am moving back home next year to save money) but i got my independence back, i got to live closer to my best friends and have the time of my life living away from home yet again. I’ve had more laughs, eventful nights out, made new friends and learned to embrace being single…WHO needs a guy?! 😉

Last NYE i was at my parents, watching the countdown in my room and this year i am going to my friends house to celebrate with all my amazing friends!

I have dyed my hair pink, i have lost weight, i have become more confident and it’s all down to YOU (and yano, a little of me too! hahah)

I hope everyone has/had an amazing NYE with lots of alcohol and music and friends and celebrates hailing in 2014 in style!

Favourite soundtrack: Safe and Sound – Taylor Swift – The Hunger Games

Okay, so over the weekend I went to watch Catching Fire and I am absolutely besotted with this series, with the books and the films (so far) (Despite the face the first film sucked ass). Book two – Catching Fire obvs – is my favourite of the series. To see it on screen, oh god, although knowing what was coming, it was still so stressful to watch and seeing the fog and the monkeys and that ending…holy crap, i was crying. SERIOUSLY though, get your ass to a cinema and watch it now!!

I love the soundtrack to both films, but I think this song is the one for me. The one that I had on repeat for weeks and now the second film is out, I have become obsessed with it yet again.

What is your favourite movie soundtrack?

Heeey guys.

As you can see, I’ve not really posted this week.

That is because I’ve burnt out and needed some time off constantly updating this blog.

I’ll be back to it Sunday with The Rocker That Loves Me tour with a review. (Seriously i LOVE this series)

ANNND at the end of this month is my ONE YEAR BLOGIVERSARY! So watch out in the following 2 weeks for a list of the awesome authors whom are taking part in my GIVEAWAY. There are some right goodies being given away 😉

I wont be updating all the time in the forth coming months either, simply because work is full-on, we are hiring newbies which means i will be helping them out, we are moving offices and i have a social life too. Obviously I will still be here, reviewing, doing cover reveals, tours….just not as much as i have been (Which hasnt been much since i moved out of my parents house.)
But Mancandy Monday and This Week’s Splurges will be sticking, regardless of if they are the only two days i post.

So, see you all Sunday!

Ten reasons to LOVE ‘The Art Of Letting Go’ – Anna Bloom (+ Excerpt)

Ten reasons to love The Art Of Letting Go

Anna Bloom’s debut novel – The Art Of Letting Go (the Uni Files, Year One) is released TODAY! YAAAY! I had the pleasure of reading this awesome book a few weeks ago…and it’s definitely 5 STAR material.

So I have put together ten reasons why you should buy The Art of Letting Go and why you should love it.

1) Ben Chambers. No further comment, jut Ben *sigh*

2) Lilah – Although you will want to kill her at times, she’s pretty damn cool!

3) Lilah and her drinking- you WILL buy wine in the bucket loads.

4) Ben’s cuteness – You will most definitely find that out!!

5) Tristan the arse – hes an arse but a nice arse 😉

6) How Lilah lives by Taylor Swift songs

7) Ben singing a Taylor Swift song.

8) Ben and Lilah together

9) BEN’S IN A BAND!!!

10) Ben singing this…..

And now here is the excerpt from Ben and Lilah’s first date: there may be a song involved….

6th October

12.45 a.m.

I have just managed to say a chaste goodbye to Ben at my door. By chaste I mean there was definitely kissing and fumbling but clothes remained intact and fastened. That’s chaste, right?

What a date!

Seriously, if that was a first date, then what would a second date be like, or a third? Or, I don’t know, what would forever be like, if I got to wake up with him every day?

I can’t think now. Need to sleep. Sleep good. Think tomorrow.

The Date

A date done Ben-style is unlike any I have ever known. It blows any other first date completely out of the water.

It’s a good thing I said yes. He made it sound spontaneous, but I think he must have gone to a lot of effort. Well, a lot of organising effort.

Ben navigates us through the public transport system, the whole time not telling me where we are going. We end up outside a pub that looks a little on the dodgy side, right in the heart of Borough Market. He walks calmly up to the door and pushes through, exuding an air of confidence that I could only ever dream of, while pulling me through the door after him, holding me close to his side.

The first thing I am surprised by is the sight of Meredith and Tristan, more so by Tristan, but it seems these two are a double act these days, so I choose to ignore it.

The second thing I am surprised by is the sight of the rest of his band mates all standing over in the corner with their instruments behind them. I have seen them in passing at Fez Club, but we never talk. I swing back around to Ben and find him watching me closely, gauging my reaction.

Wow!

“I told you, I am going to make you mine. Figure I can help you make up your mind,” he explains.

He is grinning like a Cheshire Cat, completely in his element and looking so incredibly hot it is taking every ounce of willpower not to jump him right now.

This is amazingly perfect. I love live music and now the sexy boy from next door is going to sing live—to me! It does not get any better than that. All thoughts of John, and where I should be, completely run from my mind. They do not just run, they leg it on a 100-meter sprint.

I jump up and plant my lips on his. He smiles and kisses me back. My hands are in his hair and I can feel my body start to melt inch by inch towards him when there is a sarcastic cough behind us. Tristan.

Wanker.

Ben makes a show of dragging over a stool into the centre of the room and placing me on it before walking over to the rest of the band who all greet him with bro-hugs, you know the kind that proclaim, “Yeah, we are guys, but we hug. So what?”

Ben slides out of his jacket and heads towards the microphone. My knees are practically jack-hammering up and down with anticipation as I stare at him. His blue check shirt is catching against the lights, and his hair is almost jet black in contrast.

“So anyway, this is a date of sorts,” he speaks into the microphone.

His voice sounds so outrageously sexy that it’s a sheer miracle my knickers don’t just explode right there and then.

Ping.

He gives me a nod, which I return, beaming like a bloody idiot.

“This is for Delilah,” he announces and laughs into the microphone as he starts to pick out the notes to “Hey There, Delilah.”

No, he really is going to play it. Funny-funny!

I can feel Meredith and Tristan pull up chairs alongside me but I don’t take my eyes off Ben as the band start to play.

Forty-five minutes later, after playing a completely off-the-cuff acoustic set, Ben tells the bemused crowd at the pub that he needs to have a break to snog the sexy brunette sitting in the middle. I duck my head down to avoid the stares as the whole place breaks out into cheers and clapping. He strides towards me and I jump out of my seat like a thirteen-year-old at her first concert. I wrap my arms around his neck and place my lips against his. He is hot and sweaty, but if anything, that makes him even sexier.

Damn that man!

The rest of the pub all start to cheer or maybe jeer, but I just keep my eyes closed and ignore the jibes and calls.

This may possibly be the single best date ever.

Taylor is singing “Fearless” in my head. I am feeling pretty fearless.

Nothing can ruin this. Well, nothing apart from a girl dressed only in a scarf.

Info on my blog

So last weekend my blog was a bit MIA, due to the fact i was at Reading Festival and only scheduled one post a day, plus i didnt have access to Twitter 24/7 – as I preferred to actually watch the bands i paid a hell of a lot of money to watch that weekend.

Now I’m back, my laptop has been declared dead. Although i have dropboxed all the things i actually needed from my dead laptop a few days before it died, the only internet access i have is the hour in work and to be honest, I’d rather spend that hour catching up on emails or sitting outside, people watching.

I should be getting a new laptop on the weekend, when i go back to my parents house for the weekend, so fingers crossed my blog should be up and running again by next week.

But thank you for being patient. This isnt how i wanted the past two months to be. Firstly with no internet connection in my flat until 2 weeks ago and now a dead laptop.

But when I am back, I’ll have a lot of reviews to post hahah. That is something i most definitely have been slacking with.

Just some info on what’s happening.

Hey guys!

So I just wanted to write this to let you know what is happening.

I am moving today (this is scheduled and I’ll probably already be moving my things when they posts) and I won’t have internet connection for a while. At least I don’t think i will for a while. Although I’ll have access on my lunch breaks at work, my blog wont exactly be overrun with content until i get the internet back.

I’ve scheduled some posts for the next two weeks (I’m hoping to have internet then) but I’d be grateful for some help. Maybe some guest posts or reviews or anything to help a gal out!

I can then upload it in work, much like I will be doing with my reviews, but as i have yet to write any reviews (I’ve been busy packing and becoming slightly obsessed with Kellan Kyle) I would LOVE to feature anyone who would like to write a book review or a short story or write about their book 🙂

If anyone is interested, give me a bell at zoe_pope@hotmail.co.uk

I can still access my emails on my phone.

I HAVE A NEW CO-BLOGGER!!

Yes you are seeing right and I am so excited to present her to you because as you all know, I realllly need someone to help me out with my blog.

Her name is Laura and she has her own blog over at Blame It On The Rain Reviews   (Which is awesome by the way and you should totally check her blog out). We’ve been chatting for a few weeks now after she got in contact with me and seriously, she is wicked and I hope all you avid fan and followers will be nice to her because we have been throwing some pretty cool ideas around and I think together we can do awesome things with both our blogs 🙂Blame It On The Rain

Our first venture together we will be working on a join ‘conversational review’ for UNTIL I BREAK by M. Leighton. This will be a little different from the normal reviews you expect as the review will be in a conversation format, as we discuss what we thought of the book! I’m excited to do this as I LOVE discussing books, as you all know, but now I can actually post it as a review haha.

But yes, stay turned for more things from both of us, we just need to hash out the schedules and we are more than good to go!

Anyway before i babble on even more, Laura and myself sent questions to one another, so both our followers can get to know the other.

So now, I present Laura (On the left) and her answers to you!!

me

1. Firstly, introduce yourself to my (and now our) lovely blog and twitter followers

Heeeyyyy lovelies! I’m Laura, I’m 20 years old, and a full time student studying Social Sciences ~ history, politics, criminology, sociology and psychology (I don’t think your stupid, but when I tell them that’s my course, 9/10 people ask what it is).

I live in Scotland, and no I have never met anyone even close to how I would imagine Braden Charmichael…unfortunately! Serious, however you imagine Sottish guys, turn it around and think the opposite!

I have a serious addiction to American TV and could quite easily sit for days watching Vampire Diaries, Hart of Dixie, or Supernatural box sets! *sigh* Dean ❤

It’s not just the TV either, I have a serious fascination with America, and would love to visit New York, or somewhere in the South!

Along with having a book, and American TV addiction, I am also obsessed with make-up and skincare and can guarantee, if I have money it’s being spent on that. I’ve been thinking of starting up a beauty blog for a while now, but think it would be pretty difficult to keep up with two…we’ll see!

2. What made you create Blame It on the Rain?

Last summer I got in to the Fifty Shades series (like everyone else) which made me go looking for more books like it. I ended up getting obsessed with indie new adult/adult romance, I could not shut up about it, anyone who would listen would hear about the book I was reading! I think my mum was getting sick of me so she told me to create a blog to get all my thoughts out (rather than bore her with them), so one night I couldn’t sleep and it was raining (hence the blog name) and I kinda did it on a whim, and boredom…and sleep deprivation… 🙂

I’ve always loved recommending books to others, and I was so excited that having a blog gives me the chance to do that!

3. Favourite book?

This is such a difficult one! I really can’t choose just one, especially since I started my blog, I have read some amazing books that I might not have otherwise….It would have to be a toss up between Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire (obviously), the Slammed series by Colleen Hoover, The Breathing Series by Rebecca Donovan (Evan *swoon*), or The Too Far Series by Abbi Glines (Rush Crush)…like I said, I really can’t choose, and ask me tomorrow, and I’m sure it will be different!

4. Favourite author?

Although I haven’t read all her books, it would probably be Abbi Glines….maybe…right now at least. Her style of writing completely draws me in to a book so that before I know it, I’ve finished the book, and my whole day is gone because I’ve spent all day reading. I love angst, and female characters who don’t take crap or forgive easily, plus I love angst, and drama, and her books always provide!

5. Twitter or Facebook?

Facebook as its easy to keep up with, (what are you waiting for Zoe… :-p) but I like that Twitter has a community kind of feel to it, and love the way friendships are made so easily on it!

6. If you were stranded on a desert island, which three book boyfriends would you bring along?

Awww only 3! In my fantasies its more like an orgy…think me, Travis Maddox, Kellan Kyle, Jack Carter, Rush Finlay, Chase Grayson, and Andrew Parrish, and then your more on my wave length… 😉

7. If you could be a character in any book you’ve read, who would you be?

I think I would be Cassie from The Perfect Game by J. Sterling. She is so smart, and witty always having a comeback, and most importantly she has Jack Carter, who I think is my ultimate book boyfriend, the bits in that book when he gives her quarters is adorable, quarters are the way to my heart! :-p

8. What would your book be called if you wrote one?

This is actually the hardest question I have EVER been asked! I seriously have no idea! I would love to write a book, and I think there are always moment when you’re reading one and you think, I could write better than this…or maybe thats just me being big headed…anyway, I think if I was to I would probably name it after a song or something like that, it would all depend on what I wrote about.

9. Tell us a random fact about yourself

Milk and hot drinks really gross me out. Milk has a funny smell and is so thick and blegh! I have to eat dry cereal, and drain my weetabix cos I hate it so much! As for hot drinks, I can’t understand why anyone would drink something thats not going to quench their thirst, why walk down the street on a hot day with a coffee when you could have something cold!

10. And lastly, what are you most looking forward to joining forces with The Book Lovers?

I’m most looking forward to having someone to discuss books with, and throw ideas around with! I hope to become great friends Zoe, and we seem to have quite a bit in common already, a mutual love for A Walk to Remember for one, and I have no doubt that we will work great together! I am just so excited to get started as this is something completely different for both of us, and it will be interesting to see what ideas we come up with! 😀 We have been throwing some ideas around already, and I’m particularly looking forward to the conversational reviews that we will be doing, especially since, although we love the same genre, where she likes HEA, I like drama and cliffhangers, so the conversations could get interesting… 🙂

Here are Laura’s link so you can go and talk to her. She’s really nice 🙂

Blame It On The Rain Reviews – Facebook

Blame It On The Rain website

Blame It On The Rain Twitter

I hope you are all as excited as I am. You know how long I have been searching for a co-blogger and i know a few of you sent me emails telling me that you hoped i found someone who would love this blog like i do. And I have 🙂

So please welcome Laura to The Book Lovers 😀

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.

Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.

When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.

Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.

The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel.
