My Review

Give me an M.Leighton book and you know I will gobble that shit up. Anything she writes, I know I will automatically become obsessed with and love and All The Pretty Lies was no exception. M.Leighton can hook you within the first page and from then on you are reading until you have reached the end, absorbed with the story, the characters, just everything keeps me involved and I feel every emotion that the characters do, which is definitely what you need when reading a book. It makes you feel connected to them and I definitely did with Hemi and Sloane (and Sarah – she’s wicked naughty).

All The Pretty Lies is about living life with no regrets. Living it to the fullest and being free, letting go. And both Sloane and Hemi definitely begin to live with this motto.

Sloane has been protected and mollycoddled by her father and three brothers ever since her mother died when she was a young women. They have protected her and bubble wrapped her and shes had enough. At 21, its time for her to break free, to do what she wants to do, to live but its hard enough trying to make the four men in your life understand that need when they want you safe and sound and still treat you like a little girl. Sloane hasn’t had the life experience of going to parties, going on dates, having a boyfriend, like the rest of us have but now is the time to experience all she has missed and that is just beginning with getting a tattoo…which ultimately changes her life.

I adored Sloane. Despite being innocent and naive, not at all her fault, she really wants to live life to the fullest now shes of legal age. Although it doesnt help that the men in her family are all police officers. She wants to show them that she doesnt need protecting anymore, that shes old enough to be herself, to do what ever she wants. You feel everything she is going though – albeit, we probably went through this a lot younger, but from fancying a guy, to falling in love to being playful and feeling hurt, those feelings don’t go away and are always foremost in your mind.

I liked seeing Sloane gain confidence in herself, in her feelings and in what she wanted. To see her from a protected young women and going through the motions of liking a guy, trying to get his attention then feeling a step back when she feels he doesnt like her only to gain that confidence when he actually does makes you feel like a proud friend to see her putting herself out there. I loved her tattoo and I think it represented her perfectly. She really did live by that tattoo and you can see that it means a hell of a lot to her. We watch her grow up, go through a lot and come out in the end happy and in love and completely at bliss with Hemi….but that doesnt mean its all smooth sailing with these two and at certain points I prayed they could get through it, get through their situation and thank god they did. I don’t know what I would do it Sloane and Hemi didn’t end up together!!

I definitely have a little crush on Hemi…..okay okay a hella big crush. You can see the turmoil he is going through, how he wants Sloane but he doesnt too. How he needs to stay away but he cant. You actually can understand in a way, why he cant go there, but when he breaks, its pure joy! Its beautiful to see him ‘lose control’ as such, to want Sloane, an innocent young women, someone he wouldn’t go for because he goes for the ones who expect nothing and leave when he’s in the shower in the morning, but there is just something about Sloane that he craves, that he wants and it was lovely to see him break this barrier down.

My heart broke when the news came out about what he was searching for, but you know that his feelings are pure, that he cares a hell of a lot for Sloane, and he has never felt these feelings for anyone before. You want to forgive him and you actually beg for Sloane to forgive him, to give him another chance, to listen to him. The pain, the hurt, the guilt overtook him but you could see that above all that, his heart was taken, his heart belonged to her and he didn’t want that heart to belong to anyone but her.  My heart tore when shit went down, when he wouldn’t leave her side and you could feel the terror that was radiating off him, the fear of losing the one person he loves the most and you were right there along with him.

Despite everything, Hemi is a beautiful being. He’s an owner of a tattoo shop, he’s been through pain of losing a family member, wanting to find the person who killed his brother but in the end, the grief and guilt was too much to take and he had to let it go, he had to learn to life again – “Live, no regrets” and that is what he did with Sloane and it was such a delight to see both of these characters join together, learn to live life together and that ending just had me in tears over who perfect these two are together.

M. Leighton sure knows how to captivate you into her writing, into her stories and the characters. You feel their emotions, you turn every page, wondering just where the time has gone because all you’re been focused on is Sloane and Hemi’s story, needing to find out their secrets, what will happen when they are revealed and how their ending is going – will they stay together or not?

But the ending is the perfect conclusion to their journey. It sums up everything perfectly and I was crying with happiness over the event that took place at the ending. OH how I was so happy and smiling with glee over Hemi. I cant wait to see if they make an appearance in book two, which will be about Reese, Hemi’s brother. PLEASE say they will, I’d love to keep up with their developments 😉

MANCANDY MONDAY – The place where the hot guys go!

tumblr_miteosbnHM1s715eao1_500

Every Monday, Blame It On The Book Lovers will be discussing their favourite book boyfriend of that week in a meme called MANCANDY MONDAY!

We all love book boyfriends, so Man Candy Monday is all about sharing the love…and the hot guys around by letting everyone know the book boyfriend you have been swooning over this last week, and why!

Once you’ve posted your mancandy on your own blog, come back and post the link. We all want to know WHO your mancandy is this week and swoon right along with you.

This week The Book Lovers is featuring *SPOILER* Nash Davenport from the UHMAZING Bad Boys series by the great M.Leighton.

Charlie-Hunnam-Entertainment-Weekly-Photoshoot-sons-of-anarchy-32813999-810-1214

YES! Charlie Hunnam is DEFINITELY Nash!

So Nash is my Mancandy this week and SERIOUSLY how can he not be? Okay so i love his brother Cash, but after reading Everything For Us, well Nash kind of overtook Cash by a little bit…Okay a lot.

The reason Nash is my mancandy? He has been through SO much since he was supposed to be ‘dead’. He has been at sea for seven years, done things that he wouldn’t wish upon anyone just to survive and has seen things you wouldn’t wish on anyone. He was just a kid when he was ‘sent’ away and now hes back, hes changed – as you would. Hes tough, hes rough and he feels nothing for no one. His feelings revolve around anger and revenge for the people who killed his mother and ruin his life.

But over time and in the book, we see his exterior falter, we see him begin to care and begin to let his guard down around Marissa. He reveals things about his life that he has never told anyone, which in turn means his numbness is slowly breaking down and he’s beginning to feel things that he hasn’t in years.

The more time he spends with Marissa, the more he is beginning to fall for her, yet the both of them are just clueless to each others feelings. Nash is slowly integrating back into society and he is falling in love with Marissa. She is the reason he is feeling and he wants to be with her.

Nash truly is an amazing character. From everything that has happens in his life, from the anger he has felt for years to wanting to get his revenge and then to unlocking feelings that he never thought would happen to falling for Marissa, well he certainly does change over the course of the book and you will most definitely fall in love with him throughout it, especially at the end!!

So i present my Mancandy as Nash this week.

My Review

*Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy of Everything For Us in return of an honest review for the release day*

When I first found out about Down To You, I knew I had to have that book in my life. I demolished it right away, fell in love with Cash, loved Olivia, the sex was hot, the secret was madness and I hated Marissa. Up to Me was the same. Loved every single bit of it, the action, the love, the heroic actions of Cash and Gavin, the fear of Olivia and Marissa’s lives, and of course, the jack Daniels scene. By Jesus, that was shitting hot and of course THE HUGE BLOODY SECRET THAT COMES OUT! FRIGGING HELL. If you’ve read my review of Up To Me then you will see that came as a major surprise to me.

So when there was a third book, I wanted more of Cash and Olivia, but when it turned out it wasn’t their book, but Marissa’s, well I wasn’t sure what to expect. She was a complete bitch to Olivia, a spoilt brat and only cared about herself, yet there was something that changed in her when she was kidnapped in Up To Me and perhaps she could redeem herself somehow in Everything For Us? I knew I had to see how she would do it, and I was so glad I got to read this before the release day.

M.Leighton’s Bad Boy series is a series that is a must read. She really knows how to draw you in, makes you want to read and not sleep, makes you want to read super-fast to know the secrets and everything in the book to wanting to read really slowly and cherish every moment inside the book. And Everything For Us was not a disappointment at all. As soon as I downloaded this, I was straight to reading it, wanting to know about HIM and Marissa. I’m sure you all know who HIM is but I won’t spoil his name…not yet anyway.

This review will mention HIS name though, although most of you know exactly whom I am on about, being such loyal Bad Boy girls 😉 but for those who haven’t read the books, I’m warning you, because names will be dropped.

I’d like to say that M. Leighton has done it again. Everything For Us is a fantastic addition to the Bad Boys series. It ties up everything that we want to know from the past two books and we get to see more love, more drama with the Davenport boys, but we also get to see happy endings and a budding romance? Quite possibly. I hope M. Leighton will be writing a book for Gavin 😉

I was swooning, smiling, frustrated. I cried, I laughed, I shouted at the characters, I threw my phone down but most importantly, I was sucked into the story, wishing for Marissa to redeem herself and for Nash to be brought back into society after seven years at sea where he clearly withdrew from all human nature and feelings.

We first meet Nash at the end of Up To Me. His entrance was one of a shock to me and Everything For Us is his and Marissa’s story. Nash is a strong character, he’s had to grow up pretty damn fast and he’s grown up and developed this tough and rough exterior over the past seven years. He’s had to, to survive. He’s numb, he feels nothing and hates that he’s lived his life that way, but the anger he has just won’t go away and the need for revenge is all he knows. He needs revenge on the guys who murdered his mother and destroyed his life.

But over the book we see him falter, we see him begin to care, not just for his brother but for Marissa too. We see him give more to her than he’s ever given anyone. Although he’s cemented in his ways, he reveals things to her that he’s never told anyone, never wanted to reveal but he cares for her, he can’t stop thinking about her. It was so nice to see this tough guy slowly begin to fall for Marissa, but their relationship was anything but easy for them. They got together just to show each other a good time but over time, they both fall for one another yet they don’t say anything about their feelings. This is where you just want to bang their heads together and be like “YOU BOTH WANT MORE FROM EACH OTHER, JUST TALK”

It’s no surprise that I didn’t like Marissa in the first two books. She was selfish and a bitch and didn’t give a shit about anyone but since the kidnapping, it’s shocked her, as it would anyone and shocked her into changing. She dislikes who she used to be and is set on changing her ways, on gaining forgiveness for her actions and being the person she truly is meant to be, even if it means defying her daddy and losing her ‘posh bitch’ friends. She wants to be a good person and I was so proud of her for the way she dealt with everything, the way that she was also petrified but she pushed past it and came out the other side stronger.

With Nash he pushed her, was out to prove she could do it and she could. She pushed her boundaries on her own and with Nash (in the bedroom) and you will feel towards her – be proud of her and the way she changes and handles things.

At the end, you will love Marissa and Nash, be so happy that Marissa redeems herself and that Nash integrates back into society, that they find love with each other. Their sexual chemistry was something that you couldn’t ignore when you read it. It’s sizzling and passionate and the sex scenes just intensify their ‘relationship’. Marissa is pushed and shown things she hasn’t done before and she actually likes it. She needed someone to bring it out of her and Nash really owns her body like no other. You can easily see they should be together even if there is a secret that Nash is keeping that could come out and destroy them – even though they aren’t together.

I know you all want to know if Cash and Olivia are in this book and the answer is a big fat YES! They are the couple we all fell in love with and their story, despite not having a great involvement, does progress and we see snippets of them together and what their future holds. I loved the parts they were in because throughout everything they have been through, their love is stronger than ever.

M. Leighton really ties up everything in this book with the family secret and the murder. I loved that she gave them all a happy ending too and I can honestly say I cried at the last scene. Okay, so I always cry but this part, it was the damn sweetest ending I could ever imagine for Marissa, Nash, Cash and Olivia. Here is to knowing about Gavin and Ginger now 😉

Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control.

And she doesn’t exist.

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.

Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.

When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.

Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.

The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

Up to Me (The Bad Boys #2) – M. Leighton

16093188Synopsis

Happily ever after doesn’t come easy. But for love, it’s always worth the fight.

Olivia finds bliss unlike any she’s ever known in Cash’s arms. He sets her skin on fire and melts her heart right inside her chest. Unfortunately, their happily ever after is short-lived when a shadow from Cash’s past threatens to turn their world upside down.

Dangerous people from his father’s world have discovered that Cash holds information that could put them away for a very long time. And they’re willing to do anything—and hurt anybody—to get it back. Giving it up means Cash must choose between the life of his father and the life of Olivia.

Having nearly overcome her wariness of bad boys, Olivia’s trust is shaken when this new threat arises. Now she finds that Cash is not only a danger to her heart, but his family has associations that are a danger to her life as well. She soon discovers that there are some situations in life where trust is a girl’s only option. And this is one of them. If she’s to live, she must trust Cash with her life. But to Olivia, that’s much, much easier than letting go and trusting him with her heart.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

My Review

Olivia and Cash have finally found bliss like no other with each other. They are finally with the person who sets their world alight at every corner. But their happily-ever-after is threatened abruptly when people from Cash’s past begin to turn his world upside and they will do anything – even if it means killing – to stop the information Cash has from getting out.

Giving up the information is a hard bargain and it means that Cash must choose between his father’s life and Olivia’s life. He will do whatever it takes to keep them both safe, but he needs Olivia to trust him if it means she can be protected and kept alive. Can Olivia trust Cash? Even when she is utterly scared of the situation at hand? Especially when her life is now also in danger? Trusting Cash with her life is easy; it’s just trusting him with her heart that’s the hard part.

It’s really hard to write a review for Up To Me because so much of it is spoilers! So I’m going to have to be very careful in what I say about this book so if anyone who hasn’t read it yet, won’t go into the book knowing too much about the plot. It does start off from where Down To You finishes so if you haven’t read that, what are you waiting for?

A lot happens in this book. There is more action, more suspense and steamier sex scenes. But that is all I’m going to say because I’ll be a spoiler review and I really want you to go into the book not knowing a hell of a lot about what it’s about.

Cash is still his sexy self. Even more so in this book because you see his character develop even more throughout his chapters. He’s even more determined to keep Olivia safe and his feelings for her shine with every page. Being a ‘bad boy’ and never staying with one girl, it was great to see how much he cared for Olivia and how much it scared him too. He’s just as vulnerable as the next guy when threats are targeted at him and people he loves and I really liked seeing so much emotion from him. It proves how strong his feelings are for Olivia and just how he will do anything to be with her.

The sexiness of Cash throughout the book to me stems from him being in danger – yes, I’m a girl who likes a guy who will protect her at any cost – and taking reins on the plans of putting away the dangerous people from his father’s past in order to keep everyone safe. Even when trying to protect everyone, he’s still the same old Cash we all fell in love with in book one, the one who knows how to swoon Olivia and knows how to work her body in the bedroom. The sex scenes, Jesus Christ, I need to find someone who will re-in-act those scenes with me! They were hot and steamy and you could feel the sexual tension pouring from the pages when those two were together. I’d also like a bottle of Jack Daniels and Cash ASAP please!

With Olivia, she’s obviously had to grow up a lot since book one, even though it continues straight away but with everything that has happened in the first few pages, it was obvious that although she totally loved Cash, she was utterly scared shitless about everything that was happening and going to happen in her and Cash’s life. They were in danger and she was petrified to lose Cash. And although she had mental battles, she knew she’d never leave Cash and their relationship just grew stronger and stronger towards the end of this book. It did start off a little rocky, with Olivia seemingly pulling away from Cash and when she didn’t listen to Gavin in the middle – STUPID GIRL! But Olivia went through a lot in this book and with both alternating views, I loved how much they were both scared to be without one another and would do anything to be with each other in the end.

Uhhh Gavin! Can I have him and Cash in my bed please? Gavin is Cash’s partner at the club but he also has a dark past. He used to be a mercenary and his character makes him out to be a sexy, hot, dangerous and mysterious bad boy. He’s one you should definitely stay away from but holy hell, since when do any of us listen?! I’d have him in a heartbeat. Despite his past, he’s cheeky and funny and his banter with everyone, especially Cash is great to read. You can see that they truly are best friends and he will do anything for Cash. I hope down the line, he gets his own book, because I’d love to know more about him.

I do have to say that there is a MAJOR surprise in this book. One I was not expecting at all but by god, it was a bloody good one! I’m so not going to say what it is, but you will be going ‘HOLY SHIT’ when it’s revealed.

Up To Me is a sexy and exciting follow up to Down To You which includes sexy times, action, twists, bad guys and banter. I cannot wait for book three to be out and I know who it is about…but I’m not going to say as you have to read Up To Me to find out. But from the epilogue, I am definitely curious about what is going to happen. DEFINITELY read Down To You and Up To Me. You will not be disappointed and you too, will fall for Cash Davenport. YUMMY!

Down To You – M. Leighton

16001893Synopsis

The scorching tale of one girl, two brothers and a love triangle…that’s not. Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business. She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white. But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.

Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her. Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.

Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in love. With both of them. Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire. She wants them both. And they want her. How will she ever choose between them?

My Review

Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl in college trying to get through it so she can return home and help her father out on the farm and run his business for him. Living an hour away, she’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him so she’s going to get through college and move back home; even if it means putting her own life on hold to be with him.

But then she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. Sexy twins but completely different to each other. Cash is the bad boy and everything she wants in a guy, whereas Nash is successful and everything she needs in a guy. Only problem is he’s taken. But staying away from both of them is proving hard and thus starts a love triangle…that’s not really a triangle. But you’ll have to read to find out what that means.

Olivia is a shy, insecure girl but with the boys, they bring out her feisty and confident side. After Nash and Cash meet her, they are instantly attracted to her. They think she is gorgeous, funny, witty and smart but she doesn’t understand why they think that. She’s instantly attracted to both of them, but she has to decide which one she wants…both of them make her insides crumple every time they spent time together, so I know picking would have been so hard to do.

Cash. Swooon. What can I say about him? Well he’s a club owner, he’s successful, goes after what he wants, a bad boy (which I loveeee), and has tattoos. The first time he sees Olivia, he knows he wants her for himself, it’s just trying to make her see he isn’t like all the other bad boys she’s dated, he’s different – hence the secret he’s been keeping most of his life.

Oh Nash! I’m sorry but Cash stole my heart. Albeit, you were career driven, ambitious, taken by Olivia’s cousin and everything Olivia wanted in a man, but it just wasn’t enough. But where does Nash come in to the secret?

I completely loved Down To You. Everyone had been raving about it for weeks and although I had it on my Kindle, I had yet to read it. But I am so glad I did. I was captivated by the book and it took me about 3ish hours to read; that’s how involved I became. There are three POV’s in the book, from Olivia and the boys, and it worked amazingly well. It gave in insight into their feelings about the situations and about Olivia and how they felt about her. The POVs worked also; because of the twist at the end…well I didn’t see that coming at all.

There was so much chemistry between the boys and Olivia, but I must admit, Cash stole my heart. I felt he and Olivia were much more suited. They were just drawn together no matter how much Olivia didn’t want to be a badboy’s girlfriend again, she just couldn’t stop the attraction to him and Cash was the same. He wanted and needed Olivia for himself and to prove he wasn’t like all the other men she’s dated. He wouldn’t want to crush her heart or cause her pain.

When the secret came out, I wasn’t all that surprised by Olivia’s reaction. There are two parts to this secret, and the first part surprised me. It showed a more sad time of Cash’s past and to be honest, I felt for him having to go through it and do it for his family. It proved that Cash was like Nash. He was educated, he was sensitive and he was head over heels for Olivia. But those long days that Olivia ignored him, you could see he was in so much pain that he needed to get her back. And that’s exactly what he did.

I just can’t wait to Up To You to be released now. The ending was a pure shocker and I definitely need to know what is going to happen to Cash and Olivia! The teasers on M. Leighton’s website are totally not enough, I need more! And that club scene in the teaser. HOLY HELL GIVE ME THE BOOK NOW.  I can’t wait until January!
